  • I tried out Jillian's Banish Fat workout for the first time time. It was a total challenge. I was huffing and puffing through the workout, but I feel awesome now -- those good cardio endorphins are still pumping!
  • Ut oh... If Patriciabaile doesn't show up tomorrow, we know where to look! Good work everybody!
  • Ha-ha! Hope it went over well with the sister! :) Great work everybody!!
  • My sister ran a 10k without any problem when she was about 30-weeks pregnant. She didn't wear anything special except for good quality maternity running pants. I think runner's world has a maternity line. I think it's fantastic you're staying active. My biggest regret from my first pregnancy was that I stopped working out…
  • Yup, that is acceptable.
  • Good for you!! I kept finding myself sitting back and then I'd think, right.., stand up! ;). I'm about to post tomorrow which is optional and then Sunday is a rest day! Great work everybody!
  • Sunday is a rest day. I'll copy Saturday into a comment on the news feed so in can be seen on phone apps. Although it sounds like you're going to have a long day... So no pressure :)
  • It sounds like your trainer will be having you do a lot of the same stuff we'll be doing. Stick with what your trainer is having you do, but still check back it to stay motivated and let us know what you did -- Maybe you can raise us a few exercises!
  • Hey everybody! I just posted a basic what to expect kind of thing. We'll kick off FRIDAY. I'll post the day's challenge the night before so that everyone can plan accordingly. So I'll be back tomorrow to layout Friday's goals. [sorry... I just edited to state that FRIDAY is the kick-off day, not tomorrow. For some reason I…
  • Here you go! Please come join us! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/13009-countdown-to-summer-challenge
  • Alright! Fantastic. I'm thrilled to see so many familiar faces and looking forward to the challenge. I just sent everyone above this reply an invitation. Let me know if you don't see it.
  • Every time your knee comes to your elbow, that counts as one.
  • Some people are socially awkward and things come out in a way they did not necessarily mean them to come out. But to answer your question, if someone said that to me, yes, it would irritate me so I'd ask for clarification (um... your wife must be one heck of a body-builder!)
  • You can do them all together, or you can break them up over the weekend. Whatever works for you!
  • I generally do very intense (but shorter -- like around 35-40 min) workout early in the morning. And then I do a low impact (usually walking, but occasionally weight training or yoga) workout on my lunch hour. For me, getting in the solid work out early sets me up for a good day, then if I'm able to get a 4 mile walk in,…
  • These leg lifts are the flat on your back variety: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHSIerbp-CE
  • I like making really good salads for lunch (& pack a good salad dressing on the side). One of my favorites is a Cobb Salad -- top your favorite greens with sliced cooked chicken breast, sliced avocado, crumbled blue cheese, chopped tomatoes, chopped cucumber, 1 piece crispy crumbled bacon -- sometimes I use turkey bacon to…
  • I have her 6-week six pack, Yoga meltdown and the strength one. Sadly I haven't finished the yoga one yet (I bruised both of my knees very very badly a few weeks ago and it still hurts to kneel, but I'm hoping to be able to do the yoga soon because it seems great. I've been doing the 6-week six pack for a little over 4…
  • You log it under strength as shoulder press (which unfortunately doesn't give you a calorie burn). If you want to add it under cardio, I think you can log it as "strength training"
  • Do your treadmills have heart rate sensors on the handlebars? Most do. The people grabbing the handlebars might be trying to get a read on their heart rate.
  • Yes, and I was actually taking a multi vitamin daily when I became deficient -- it's easier for your body to get those nutrients from food versus pills. That said, on my doctor's advice, I am now taking zinc & calcium supplements daily and b12 shots weekly and all the other deficiencies I'm trying to tackle with food…
  • I have the Polar H7 bluetooth and love it. Polar came out with their own free app last fall, Polar Beat, which I absolutely love. Not only does it give you your calorie burn and distance (if needed), but it also gives you a little exercise analysis at the end of your work out and gives you a quick optional survey (how you…
  • I'm *from* Jersey, though I don't live there anymore. My parents are retired in Ocean Grove so we still go there all the time. How come you can't find pork roll, egg and cheese on restaurant menus in any other state? I'm also constantly homesick for decent pizza, good deli sandwiches and bagels. Sigh... Jessica…
  • The general belief is that 1200 is the minimum amount of calories your body needs to function properly. When you say that you eat 1200 cal, do you mean that you eat 1200 total for the day or 1200 net (meaning eating back those exercise calories). In the short term, you will certainly lose weight, but in the long term you…
  • You can ease into it and still exercise daily. I got REALLY out-of-shape for a while. I had been a bit of a work-out junky in my 20s so it was depressing when I realized I could no longer workout for even a fraction of the length or intensity that I once had. I talked it over with my doctor and he told me that he'd be…
  • Yay!! That is awesome!
  • I can't disagree with this more. I've never been remotely close to obese in my life, I'm currently a size 6, and Yes, I love food. I love it. It's not a security blanket, friend or lover, but personally, I think it's a little sad to think of it purely as fuel. I like to think of meals as an event. It is a time to sit down…
  • Your coworkers are going to be jealous of your gorgeous gams! ;)
