  • I am a huge fan of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It was so amazing and I recommend it to everyone. Into The Wild is also very good. I loved the way it was written. I also really like books like Freakanomics, Outliers, Blink, The Tipping Point. They are very interesting and really make you think. I am reading Atlas…
  • I really want to try and break out of my plateau, but since it is the holidays I know that will be really difficult. So instead I want to at the very least, maintain my weight. I want to start cooking more for myself and start doing more outdoor activities (because once I go home for break I won't have a gym to go to). I…
  • I also have anxiety and I know that stating a medication can effect you so I think that has something to do with it. Maybe it also has to do with something environmental, maybe a recent lifestyle change (diet/ exercise/ daily routine/ etc.) because I know that my "spells" normally come after change (either dramatic or…
  • You are awesome!! And look like a different person. Congrats and great job. You look beautiful!!!
  • I am new, and I know it is half way through the month but I hope thats ok :) My goal is to lose 3 lbs by the end of the month, including thanksgiving, and to stay very active the entire week of thanksgiving when I will be on vacation and out of my element.
  • Well you could try and go to the gym together, that helped me in the beginning, having someone to come with me because I was self-conscious. Also, tell her the benefits about going to the gym, it makes you feel better and speeds up metabolism. If you just diet and don't work out, then you are losing fat AND muscle, which…
  • Doing 5 small meals, or 3 meals with small snacks between really helps me out. Plus the benefit of working out and getting extra calories. I takes some time to get used to the decrease in the calories and I think for it to really work it should be a slow process of cutting calories. Going from 3,000 a day to 1,200, you…
  • I have the same problem. But what helps me most of the time is to take a short walk outside. The cool air really wakes me up and if I am listening to music I choose my work out mix. Then I am awake enough to finish my task (normally homework). And working out really wakes me up. If you can change your schedule, try working…
  • I have the exact same problem with sugar. I eat lots of apples and grapes but also cereals and snack bars and I seem to always be over in sugar by lunch time. It might be annoying but you could manage your refined sugar intake vs. natural sugar intake separate from MFP just to see if you are on track. That is one thing I…

  • I am doing the same thing...losing weight for ME. I'm also 5'7" 136lbs. MFP is great for everyone, it really helps you stay on track and has such a great community!!
  • I gave up all soda completely a couple years ago. Now if I have a sip, it literally BURNS my throat, and it is so painful to drink and I can't imagine why anyone would drink any sort of soda. I gave it up for lent one year and realized how much I didn't miss it and so I didn't want to start drinking again. Its one piece of…
  • WOW you look great!! Good job! Keep running, it really seems to be working for you!
  • For me, if I workout and burn 400 calories, then I allow myself to eat 400 MORE calories on top of my 1,200. Normally, I suggest eating a good protein meal after you workout and you can get the most out of your muscles.

  • You can start by doing at-home exercises, like lunges and sit-ups. Things that you won't need to go to the gym to do. Once you start doing that on a regular basis then you can go to the gym and add that to your routine. I found that going to classes is a really good motivator. If you treat them like a school class that you…
  • I love that there is a thread for twenties! I am 20 years old (probably the youngest in this thread :) ) and I have been needing an outside support group for a while now. I have gained 15 lbs. in college (ironic huh?) because of drinking, junk food, and not working out. I really need help on the weekends. I work out almost…
  • I take Women's One A Day Active Metabolism pills and Women's One A Day 2O drink. My Dr. recommended that I take Vitamin B-complex supplements for energy and I swear by them, they really help me keep full energy all day which is great because I work out harder and longer. I few of my friends take them also and have the same…
