  • I am training for a century (100 mile bike event) this fall. I need to loose about 15 lbs and tone up to be able to be successful.
  • How about a 3 egg white omellete with salsa, shredded cheddar and green pepper? Add two pieces of whole wheat toast. Total damage 280 calories and I feel like I can make it until lunch.

  • Thanks. I usually do lifting for 30-40 minutes and then finish something cardio. I play golf a couple of times a week so I have to watch which days I lift so I am not trying to recover and swing at the same time. I think 300-400 calories/hour is a good guesss for my burn rate while lifting. Glenn
  • Unfortunately the story gets more scary. I passes the 60 mark and it seems I can gain weight by thinking about food! I do a lot of exercising, but can't seem to stay ahead of the calorie count. Good luck to you. I will watch for suggestions.
  • Thanks for the reply. Is there a source for the caloric burn rates for different strength exercises? I lift twice a week and have no idea about burn rates. My goal is to loose inches not so concerned with weight because I am building muscle.
  • I am 61 and although I exercise frequently my metabolism is getting painfully slow. How important is fiber in the diet?
