  • You could also try finding a dietitian or nutritionist to work with.. or an ND = Naturopathic Doctor. Every ND I've ever known has been very knowledgable about Candida.
  • Vinegar packs a lot of sugars.. I've learned to replace it with fresh lemon juice which tastes just fine in most recipes and even tastes better in a few recipes to me. I had to learn to like vinegar at one time, then I got seriously into balsamic vinegar.. the sweetest kind of course! Now I've learned not to have vinegar…
  • Cuddling and sex I miss although the worst to me is when there's a really big@$$ spider or wasp in the house.. stuff like that.
  • Drives me crazy too. I can always tell when I'm back in the megalopolis because no one uses signals and no one lets you merge. The only thing I hate worse than reckless speeding drivers (who are willing to take everyone's life in their own hands to get a car length ahead..) are the geriatric set who insist on going up to…
  • A good rule of thumb I've found with serving sizes is that it's ok to double it potentially (as if you have gone back for "seconds") but don't have three times the serving at a sitting. Otherwise there tend to be pretty good reasons why the serving size on certain things are quite small. I'm very glad for the "serving"…
  • Main "con" with nuts is if you're eating enough to get too much fat, which sounds like you aren't. Some nuts have a lot more fat than others.. Cashews are pretty fatty compared to Almonds for example. Cashews are still fine just have a smaller serving of the higher fat nuts. Personally, I avoid pistachios because they're…
  • Look around your area and see if there's an Asian grocery somewhere. I find the best prices there on large quantities of raw almonds, long grain brown rice, and spices. For example, for the price of a tiny plastic shaker of Turmuric in a regular grocery store I can buy nearly a pound of it at the Asian grocery.
  • When I was a lifeguard there was a lever in the pumproom I was supposed to be able to pull as part of my job. I'm a tiny at 4'11".33 and I just didn't have enough torque to do it. No one would believe me that I couldn't pull this lever. So I called everyone into the pump room one day and did 20 pullups with my feet totally…
  • It is a different strain of yeast than brewers yeast or bread yeast. It's grown on molasses. Brewers yeast and bread yeast are terribly bitter where nutritional yeast is nutty and buttery.. don't get them confused! :noway: Sprinkled into olive oil and stirred with a fork it's a great dip for artichokes. You can sprinkle on…
  • Diet soda is even more yucky than the real thing.. after awhile off them they become unappealing. I grew up drinking lots of the stuff, now it never crosses my mind. My tip; what helped me get off them back when was - flavored seltzer water, check the health food store if your regular grocer doesn't have it. (Oddly it's…
  • Oh and some of the charts make a distinction if you're small medium or large bones, they say look at your wrist size to tell. I have tiny wrists but have seen tinier so I'm somewhere small to medium boned which makes my goal weight lower than someone who's my same hight but has larger bones. I'm shooting for 115 which I…
  • I'm even a little shorter at 4 feet 11 and a third inches, the charts say I should be somewhere between 108 and 114. Right now I'm shooting for 115.
  • I would say try to eliminate sugars enough to keep you out of the red at least for a couple of weeks which will jump start your weight loss in my experience.. then add a fruit meal in per day. If you stick to low glycemic fruits like apples and berries you'll get your fruit nutrients in with less sugars.
  • You inspire me to keep going! 12 more pounds to go and I'll be at my goal weight.. at that point I will have lost a little more than 40 pounds in all. Just think you've lost more than twice that! That's a lot of work, you should be very proud of yourself.
  • Yea pretty normal really. Make sure you are hydrated, getting enough water (8 measuring cups per day for most people) lubricates the joints and reduces the cracking/popping. A lot of cracking/popping can be a sign you're prone to gall bladder and/or arthritis issues.. but it can also just be a sign you're unconditioned…
  • I do a Paleo-esque approach, but I allow myself a few whole grains. I think having *whole* grains rather than refined and keeping them limited to a smaller part of the overall diet helps a lot.
  • Acts 10: Peter's vision 9.On the next day, as they went on their journey, and drew near unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, 11And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending…
  • Most days I do 45 minutes of circuit/weight training with a 50 minute (4 mph) walk which burns 590 calories according to MFP. That's my standard daily burn and only takes a little more than an hour and a half of my time. Most days I get the workout in during my lunch break in the afternoon (I work at home.) Some days I add…
  • Tomorrow's meal plan is to cook a Green Chard Stew cooked Greek style that I've made before, other than the chard (a leafy green) it also is made with tomatoes, garbanzos and kernel corn.. I may cheat a bit and add some sautéed turkey sausage to it for protein (it's a processed meat) but I will keep the portion reasonable…
  • Also wanted to add how important it is to stay hydrated.. 8+ measuring cups of water per day.. note that's measuring cups. You can fit 2 measuring cups of water in a 16 oz tumbler. Then you only need to drink 4 or 5 of those 16 oz tumblers over the course of a day, and that's plenty for most people. Teas and other…
  • I'm not religious but I have to question a Christian vegetarian approach based on the following passage: Acts 10: Peters vision 9.On the next day, as they went on their journey, and drew near unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour: 10And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but…
  • Sure! I should get back to logging my good meals here to give you guys ideas. Today I was pretty good. Brunch was piece of grilled chicken breast on sprouted bread with lettuce, tomato slices, and a quarter avocado mashed up as a condiment. Dinner was about 12 large steamed shrimp with lemon butter and a big bowl of mixed…
  • I hear ya, I'm in the same place as far as I feel great when I stick with it so I am trying to stay with it. When I have a bad sweet craving I portion myself out a reasonable portion of unsweetened applesauce and it helps take the edge off of it for me.
  • Welcome Laura! Nice to meet you. Welcome to the group. It's not all that active sometimes but I like the support that I'm able to give and receive here. Don't feed the yeast! That's what I tell myself lately when I want to reach for sweets or wine. Good luck with your journey. I had a foot problem for…
  • Drizzled with sesame oil and then grind some salt/seasonings onto them. A few drops hot chili oil or tabasco is nice on them. Or lately to use up avocado I've been mixing the yolk of one large boiled egg with a quarter avocado.. mash lightly with a fork and spoon it back into the whites, season to taste.
  • I go to the aqua center in C'burg.
  • From a guy I dated: "You're so tiny, I could floss my teeth with you!" LOL. Still can't quite get that mental image out of my head.
  • Hmm I'm not a big fan of clay and psyllium.. they can bind you up pretty bad and aren't really necessary imho. To each his own though. Be sure to get your 8 measuring cups + of water in per day.. especially taking psyllium. In my experience, the candida type issues can be brought under control purely by eliminating sugars…
  • I still have my old Denise Austin step and occasionally pull it out for fun. I've also done bench stepping on steeper household stairs for more of a challenge. I've can be fun to just put on an album and step to it for awhile. I learned most of my steps from a routine off the old exercise show (Homestretch) which…
  • Yea a little weight is healthy. If you've ever seen an elderly person in their decline when they're super skinny, you realize a little weight does look healthy on a person. However, at the other extreme, I know someone who is morbidly obese and calls herself "fluffy" not "fat" and "curvaceous" and says things like "I am…
