One of my exceptions for my "no dairy" rule (other than very small amounts of real butter) is 2 tablespoons of real cream in a mug of coffee in the morning. I'm the same as someone else said, I've tried alternatives but nothing else tastes good to me. Here's what I do, I keep a measuring spoon that is 1 tablespoon size…

I've posted this one in this group before but doesn't hurt to post it again. "Strong Knees" by Gaiam. I found by adding the exercises they call "7 minutes to save your knees" from it, I was then better able to do other workouts without knee issues. It basically shows you easy ways to strengthen everything around the knees…

Sorry I'm so late responding to you.. in time for Christmas at least. My suggestion is really play up the turkey and veggies, and skip the stuffing, the sweets and the wine/alcohol as much as possible. Keep a lot of fresh low glycemic fruit around for dessert, like apples and berries (strawberries, blueberries etc) you can…

When you're only 4'11" tall and have a very small boned frame it makes a difference. I never post my diary or mention my calorie intake on here because people freak out saying I'm not eating enough to feed a cat. I have tried *many* times eating 1200+ and even 1500 (easy to do, I love food) along with a lot of exercise and…

Thanks for the info GrannyGwen1. I am also getting back on the wagon. It's not easy this path but watching the scale drift back up isn't easy or fun either. My skin has been a mess too which I'm sure is sugar and sulfites I've been ingesting when I drink wine. I can see a major difference in the clarity of my skin when I…

The best one I've ever found (and it's also the only multivitamin listed in the Physician's Desk Reference) is a liquid multi called "Vitaplen" that you can get online at a site called Cactus Canyon. I like that it's liquid, tablets and capsules can tend to bind me up. I can tell it does something because my fingernails…

There is no amount of money that would do it for me, seriously.. :noway: I couldn't do it. I can't even stand to be around when someone is eating it, just the smell makes me feel sick. When I was a kid, none of the kids I knew liked it so we always had tons of leftover black jellybeans. As an adult I now have…

I've tried to keep it simple since I only started swimming regularly at all again a couple of years ago and at the moment it's hard for me to get to the pool more than once a week at most usually due to work and life. I'm a total wimp compared to all the serious swimmers, but I thought it might be worth mentioning for some…

My first response when I saw the topic "Anxiety and Depression" was "yea?? what about it??" lol.. Seriously though I find the only thing that helps really is the exercise.. really helps burn off the stress for me more than anything else, even meds.

I find I crave the dairy most in winter. I read somewhere it's traditional in Ireland to eat creamy oyster stew at Christmas.. sounds about right to me. Apparently us pale people need the vitamin D in the dairy to compensate for lack of sun in winter. But if you overdo you end up a wide ole Celtic mom. Which reminds me I'm…

In simple terms: Not all sugars are created equally. Too much sugar is too much sugar.

lulz fun game, @ConnieM20 buddies. To some others on this thread though, I'm single and straight. lol

I'll be 45 this year.. Funny I had been feeling like a Methuselah myself in some ways until I started working for people 20 years older than me.. they are so lame in certain ways. Like want me to like all their generation's stuff (which I generally do) but they think my generation's stuff is lame. LOL. Irritating but makes…

I used to work with a lady who was from India, in fact she was a Hunza.. y'know, one of those tribes that eat yoghurt and live to be 113. She was a strict vegetarian who ate pretty sparingly.. and told me she only needed 4 hours of sleep a night.. any more than that seemed like overkill to her. (I saw her again 20 years…

4'11".33, around 125 lbs or so and wear a 10 or 12 short depending on the brand. Not easy to find a 28" or less inseam, anything longer drags the ground. I particularly like Lee Riders.

I do the same.. if I'm down on the scale in the morning I'm happy and motivated by the success.. If I'm up on the scale in the morning (and usually I know why from what I did the day before) after a moment's annoyance I'm doubly motivated to get back on track and have a better day. So either way it's a win for me.

Squats and lunges help a great deal, but if you're already doing those try bridges, especially advanced bridges (with your feet in a chair and weights on your chest.)

I've always found the whole "thigh gap" thing strange. Apparently I'm one of the lucky ones who has it even when I've been pretty heavy.. people often have complimented me on it and for years I was confused as to what people were talking about until someone explained it to me. I think it has to do with how your thigh bones…

I haven't met a kid yet that didn't like wholesome home cooked meals. Make them some home made mac and cheese with bacon in it and they'll love you forever. Warning though, you will over time create monsters who will later on be appalled at some of the things their friend's families eat that will taste weird to them after…

I find eating a piece of fruit will quell a sweet craving pretty well. I often do something like unsweetened applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon or apple slices with almond butter.

Here's a technique I've learned for tailgaters. If you tap your brakes you just make them mad and they get more aggressive and more dangerous.. here's what you do. Try to get eye contact with them in the rearview and make your eyes look really big and excited then wave to them like mad with one hand. Tailgater generally…

I've been off dairy for so long that I don't actually like the taste of kefir anymore.. at one time I thought it was pretty good but now it just tastes like (sorry) but like mucus lol, and way too rich. I find it harder to keep weight off if I allow much dairy at all, I try to stick with less than a serving per day which…

Sorry I didn't catch your post sooner. I hope you're still on track. I've had a lot of success with this approach, when I stick to it I do great.

I'm here, just didn't catch your question. It's a small group and I only check it every week or two at this point, but when I do check I try to get to any questions anyone has posted.

There's a lot of different approaches that people call "Candida diets" and they're not all created equal. I feel some are too restrictive. Some are just clean eating approaches that are fine. If you want to be rid of candida it's really pretty simple.. don't feed the yeast any sugars for awhile and it will go away.

Not sure how to count it but it's fairly light and healthy stuff so I just wouldn't worry about it too much. To me it tastes similar to Indian food except the bread is different/spongier.

At Chinese places, most have a Veggie medley or "Buddhist Delight" option that is pretty light. They'll usually add chicken or tofu or whatever to it if you want some extra protein. Steamed meat dumplings also aren't too bad. It's the sauces and condiments that are carb bombs more than anything.. as well as anything deep…

Look up "compote" recipes.. they can be made with just fruit.

For me high protein implies more sources of high quality protein.. lean poultry and fish, eggs, some lean red meats too in moderation. Almost half the plate should be protein. And also; one most people overlook = getting a variety of a lot of different types of vegetables which gives some high quality protein also.
