I have heard time and time again that sugar is not good for you. Obviously that would be sweet stuff, candy, soda, etc. However. fruit has a TON of sugar. I always end up pretty high in my sugar content over the day and what ends up sending me over is the fruit I eat. I also know that MFP is not an exact science but how am I supposed to stay within the recommended sugar limit and still get in my fruits and veggies? I also know that there is a difference between the kind of sugar found in fruits and veggies and those found in junk food, I just can't remember what it is.

I am usually over my sugar too and it's not from sweets.

Food > Settings > Nutrients Tracked > Change Sugar to "None" or another nutrient.

Unless you have existing blood sugar problems, just count sugar as a carb.

The limit on MFP is calculated for added sugar only (based on government guidelines), but counts naturally-occurring sugar and added sugar the same.

dont worry about it too much unless you have a medical condition that needs you to watch it like diabetes.

if you are going over from eating fruit, excellent. totally eat fruit.

if you want to get your 5+ a day of fruit / veg with a lower sugar intake, eat more servings of vegetables.

so yah don't worry about going over on the sugar its fine. a lot of people will track carbs instead.

personally i eat whatever the %$^*& I wanna eat!

    yah, good idea.

I have also found the MFP sugar recommendation to be a lot lower than the government recommendation. i think because its tied in with the deficit and the other macros it drops a lot lower.

Thanks! It gets overwhelming trying to track everything. i'm not perfect, I do have added sugar, but not much. Not even half of what MFP "allows"

    In simple terms:

Not all sugars are created equally.

Too much sugar is too much sugar.

Thanks chrisdavey! That article was helpful.

Nikilis- I read your "about you" Now I want a freaking cookie.....Thank goodness there are no cookies in the house lol

Nico- is there such thing as too much sugar from fruits? That was basically what I was trying to get at. I know there is such a thing as too much added sugar.

    NP.

If you are within, your cal target, have had enough P&F and are not diabetic then eat your fruit

Sugar is just another type of carb.
