  • In general, search the USDA National Nutrient Database for whole food items, the brands for whole food items are not that important. Find the name of the item from the USDA database, then copy and paste the name into MFP search. Add raw or cooked to the search string. Search MFP for "sweet potato cooked flesh" to get the…

  • If you update your current weight in Check-in (web version) or Progress (mobile apps), MFP "checks to see if you've lost 10 pounds since the last time your goals were calculated. If so, we'll ask you if you'd like to reset your goals based on your new weight." If you update your current weight in Goals, MFP will notify you…
  • It is customary to provide a link to the source when copying and pasting. The above appears to be either from an article or podcast referencing the underlying source or possibly from the conclusion of the original source, which is a "commentary" published in 2014 in "Public Health Nutrition." The full commentary article…
  • On the web version, navigate to REPORTS and in the drop down, choose Fitbit Steps. Once the chart displays, hover the cursor over the chart line to display individual date information. On the web version, you can also navigate to Check-in, then at the bottom click "Edit Previous Entries," then in the dropdown choose Fitbit…
  • 2300 Cals over one week equates to about 330 Cals per day adjustment above your estimated maintenance. That does seem a little high. Do you wear the Fitbit all day, every day? What model is it? Are you logging all Calorie Intake as accurately as you can? Can you plan to eat back only 50% of the Fitbit Calorie adjustment? I…
  • In order to keep the Fitbit linked to MFP and not transfer the daily Fitbit Calorie adjustment to MFP, you will have to purchase MFP Premium to turn off adding Calories to your daily MFP Calorie Goal. I have found that both the Fitbit Charge HR model I had previously and the Fitbit Charge 2 model I have now have provided…
  • You can't without paying for MFP Premium. It is all or nothing. You will have to unlink them if you do not want MFP to transfer the Fitbit Calorie adjustment or go Premium. Also, I am not aware of having "all options selected" as a choice. Where are you seeing the option choices and what are they specifically?

  • If it is still before midnight your time, delete an item from a meal and re-enter it. If that works, repeat for each meal slot if the whole day did not sync. If it is now past midnight your time, the syncing should work going forward.
  • When you link, only that day's information and going forward get synced. MFP and Fitbit data only go back to the first day you linked.
  • Any exercises previously entered in MFP (earlier in the day) will not be transferred. As long as it is the same day, delete the MFP exercise, then re-enter it, it should trigger the action. I am not sure about deleting/re-entering on previous days - I never tried that.
  • When linked, only the MFP meal slot Calories and nutrition information summaries will be transferred to Fitbit. Exercises entered in MFP will not be transferred individually. Ensure start time and duration entered in MFP are correct, so that the Calories burned are correctly accounted for during syncing. Edited: individual…
  • Note: Once you have deleted a created custom exercise, if you have previously logged it to your Exercise Diary, the deleted custom exercise may still be pulled from your Exercise Diary and displayed in the "Most Used" list. You may also need to go back through your Exercise Diary and replace the wrong custom exercise with…

  • If MFP and Fitbit are synced but you are not seeing Fitbit steps, on the MFP mobile app go to Menu > Steps, or on the web version go to APPS > Steps, and make sure Fitbit Tracker is selected as the Step Source.
  • The VO2Max test attendant said that however long it took to get to max they would wait. I chose the treadmill, and after a 5 minute warmup the attendant increased the incline every minute. I decided to end it at 15 min, and when I asked if I had reached max, he said, "oh, you reached max at 12 minutes, I thought you just…
  • I got a package of DEXA ($129), RMR ($99), and VO2Max ($149) individual retail done last August for $300 in Washington DC in the same building as the DC convention center. The company is regional but there are plenty of companies around the country. Search the internet for Composition ID which is where I went, they have…

  • If you are seeing steps but no "exercise" Calories, perhaps you have not yet taken enough steps (moved enough) to earn more Calories than you get from your MFP self-estimated Activity Level. I do not start getting a positive Fitbit Calorie Adjustment until I have exceeded 2500 steps per day when set to MFP Sedentary…

  • You can not share recipes directly with another user, and another user will not find your recipes through a search. Your recipes will be displayed in the search results only when you perform a search. There is a workaround to log another user's Recipe nutrition information. Once you log a Recipe to one of your Meals,…
  • You must add/edit meal slot names on the web version; they will then sync with the mobile app.
  • If you logged it previously in your Food Diary, the Recent list query will pull that record from your Diary and display it for you to log it again - even if it can not be found in the public Food Database under the same name. For the missing item in the public Food Database, if it was not "verified" by MFP, it may have…
  • Take the number "under" and divide by number of days left to log to get the average net Calories per day left. Assuming you have logged 4 full days (Mon thru Thu) and you have 3 full days left (Fri thru Sun): 7169 Cals / 3 days left = 2390 Cals per day average for each remaining day (Fri, Sat, Sun) to meet your Goal. You…
  • The question that MFP asks about your daily/weekly exercise goals when you set your Goal is aspirational only; your response does not factor into MFP's calculations at all when determining your daily Goal. When you do an activity or exercise beyond your self-estimated activity level, you should log that additional activity…
  • Just wanted to put this here to let users know that the mobile app Dashboard and the web version Dashboard show different views of mostly the same information. The mobile app displays the full equation to calculate Remaining Calories to consume to meet daily Goal. At the end of the day, Remaining Calories should approach…
  • On the mobile app, navigate to Nutrition > Calories > Net > Week View. You can set the week to start on a seven day rolling average, or set to start on a specific day of the week. Here is an example of the "Weekly Nutrition Settings" set to Monday. I am 56, 5'8", 150lbs at maintenance and have my Net Calorie goal set to…
  • This sounds like a mismatched setting between kilocalories and joules. 1 Calorie (with a capital C) = 1 kilocalorie = 4184 joules
