  • None of this is actionable information. Aside from completely missing my point, if you hadn’t been so eager to jump on my comment, you would have noticed that I deleted it. It was meant for a different thread and while some of your knowledge is very useful, I noticed that you like to try to disagree, debunk, or just debate…
  • Just learned some interesting info about calories. The calorie measure at current date, isn’t hard and fast. It’s an estimation of the food’s stored energy and there are factors that affect how many calories an individual body takes in as opposed to excretes as waste based on the gut health/bacterial population. Also, some…
  • People overthink things. It’s OK to keep asking if it’s something that’s really on the OP’s mind.
  • This is a good question. My daughter is barely 5 1 and she weighs between 120 and 125. She looks great and wears size zero to four, depending on the fit. I am 5 3 and would LOVE to weigh 160. I’ve gotten down to 163 before and felt great. That was about a size 12 for me. Im at 197 right now and want to get to 180. That’s…
  • I love this. So true. I ate too much when I was away, and then ate too much when I got back. I logged my food every day, even on my cheat days so I stay in the habit and can track my eating patterns. Feeling guilt starts those defeatist thoughts, which can derail you. Look at it as a lifelong journey and trust in the…
  • Yup. I lost about 68 pounds 5-6 years ago and everyone was nicer to me, I got perks when I went places, seat upgrades, friends being let back into places once a door was locked because I asked, and it bothered me. I consider myself a nice, polite, happy, positive person no matter what weight I am. I didn’t change, people’s…
  • I’m curious as to why you wouldn’t use MFP to manage your macros? If you think you need more protein because of your workouts, consider adding a protein shake within a half hour after working out. I use an organic vegan one that tastes pretty good when I add 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries to it. There are some good Ted…
  • After a 3 day hiatus, I took a 3 mile walk. The hiatus was due to upper back soreness after an intense shoulder workout combined with a bucket list jump off a 20 foot tower into water. No regrets!
  • That seems low for an hour bike ride. I don’t know your stats, but the last time I rode for an hour, it was about 660 calories according to Endomondo. I’m sure that’s an overestimation, but I wouldn’t think I’d burn less than 400. It’s frustrating to try to figure these things out, so I go with an average. Mapmyride seems…
  • I can totally relate! I didn’t start to feel like my old self until I had lost about 25 pounds. It took about 5 months and all I did was walk, do Zumba, and spin. I am starting to feel good, lift weights, and today I climbed two ladders to jump off a 20 foot platform into the water. It felt great! I’m feeling stronger and…
  • If you’re discouraged and are trying to make up for overeating by exercising, don’t hurt yourself, take a long walk instead, or a swim, or a bike ride.
  • I go up and down. It’s SO annoying! Keep the course and watch the trend over three or four weeks
  • Nice bike! I love to ride my bike.
  • Shoulders, elliptical, and stretching.
  • I have difficulty getting all my protein in and I drink a protein shake after I weight lift. I also eat a decent amount of eggs and chicken breast. My macros for 1240 calories a day are set at around 100 grams. It increases with exercise, but I can’t ever meet it.
  • That is a great motivational goal. I love it!
  • Another critic that can only pick apart a post instead of providing their own assistance. 🙄 annoying
  • How do you know the poster is a male? There’s no picture? And it would still be a good starting point to get ideas. I find it so annoying when posters decide to pick apart other’s helpful hints, especially when they don’t post any help of their own.
  • You are an inspiration! Can I ask how long you have kept it off? I lost 68 pounds 5 years ago and gained a lot of it back. I am now the lowest I’ve been in 4 years, but still have to lose 30 pounds to get to my lowest and I’m worried about gaining it back again. I know the typical timeline is 2 years and then most people…
  • If you Google 1200 calorie menus a bunch pop up from Good Housekeeping, Red Book, etc. Some are really good with variety.
  • I highly recommend biking. It is worth the investment to buy a good bike - a used one maybe? If you want to replace running, you should get a street bike. I have a hybrid trek, which I LOVE, but I stay between 12 and 15 MPH. If you want to start biking competitively, you may want to stay with a street bike. I hope you are…
  • Yeah me too. Even when I have a smoothie, I usually pair it with protein like an egg or turkey bacon. My protein shakes are for after weight lifting, but it never replaces a meal!
  • I boil a dozen eggs at a time and pair an egg with 3 pieces of microwaved Oscar Mayer Uncured turkey bacon and a banana. I also make a broccoli and cheese crust less quiche with half eggs and egg whites. It heats up so easy in the microwave and gives you 8 days of breakfasts (I freeze individual pieces in baggies after day…
  • Bis and Tris, 1/2 hour elliptical, stretching.
  • What protein are you eating if you are a vegetarian? Are you eating eggs, cheese, yogurt, tofu, chick peas, beans? Are you eating Quinoa? Baked potatoes? Sweet potatoes? What healthy carbs and protein are you currently eating besides drinking liquids and taking vitamins, which is not eating. The next day you are fine after…
  • You look fabulous. I agree with the OP that said just keep doing what you are doing. When I want to feel good, I do some ab work/Pilates. It makes me feel toned and like everything is sucked in a little more. You could add that to your routine - 5 to 10 minutes every other day might boost your confidence., but seriously,…
  • I’m glad the doctor is taking this seriously. Everything must be explored, and if you’re anemic and have low white blood cell count, there may be a problem beyond diet. Hopefully that is not the case and your health will fall back in line with some expert advice from a dietician as it sounds as if your diet definitely…
  • It may be that your nutritionist has a good reason for this advice, and I can guess at some, but if you want to stength train, you should do it! I stared with just cardio this time and just added strength training the last month. I do weights three times a week and cardio 2 to 3, plus lots of stretching. Last time I…
  • I agree that a lot of water weight comes off first. Usually slows down after week three, although men do lose weight a lot faster than women. Checking with your doctor is a good idea. Maybe get a referral for a nutritionist or dietician to set you up with a graduated plan, and show her MyFitnessPal.
