Years ago, I used to work away and stayed in bed and breakfast places. They would always do a big cooked breakfast and I used to eat some of it and make the rest into sandwiches for lunch, then have a meal in the evening. Although making sandwiches at a buffet might be frowned on! The whole trip sounds great, including get…

What wonderful news, Suzy! Congratulations to you all and wishing your daughter a happy and event-free pregnancy. I imagine your services will be greatly needed in a few months, especially by big-sister-to-be! I'm glad your hand is healing, but it must be so frustrating! I think I would have given in and ordered takeaway!…

That's great news that you are going well. Funny that your surgeon was super cautious. I think I would like that, being a bit on the cautious side myself! It's just a shame that you reacted to the anaesthetic. I understand if you had had the op before, of course you would expect it to be the same procedure this time! Yes,…

Oh, that sounds awful, Suzy, with the anaesthetic issues as well. I imagined you being conscious: didn't realise you were going under! You will have to build in extra recovery time. Must be frustrating to have a non-functioning right arm too! I suppose you will find out later how well it went, but good that the doctor…

Good luck for the surgery today, Suzy.

That's good news about the hurricane! Cooler is so much better for walking and hiking, I think. I love fall/autumn. It's a bit mixed here, quite cold and rainy, but I prefer it to the heat. I have been shifting furniture and decorating today so that's keeping me warm!

What a shame about the cortisone shot, Suzy. Good that the surgery is soon. Fingers crossed for you! Congratulations on the thyroid medication, Snoozie! Hope you have a lovely break with your friend, and a lovely Thanksgiving weekend too. There are virtually no masks here! I had a letter before my hospital appointment to…

I've had my cardiology appointment now. The cardiologist wasn't too worried about my symptoms - the pain that I've been getting doesn't seem to be heart related, and for the other stuff he thought wasn't a big worry either, so just doing some more tests in case, but it was quite reassuring. I know the course of these…

The trip sounds fantastic! I love that you had a day on the beach as well as all the really active stuff. I'm just picturing you on the beach with waves coming up to the chairs! That's great that you are getting your hand sorted soon. Best of luck with the surgery. Ah, the family photos! No, you can't lose 60 lb by…

Oh, have a lovely weekend, Suzy! Nice that you have a mix of walking and relaxing. I had to go on google maps as hadn't heard of that part of the world. It looks really interesting with lots of wildlife reserves and marshes. I bet it's amazing for bird watching! Then I got distracted planning what I would visit if I went…

Baked eggs, I literally meant just eggs baked in the oven (or the health grill, in my case)! I'm sure there are recipes out there but it's so simple I tend to do it without. Just a buttered or oiled small baking dish or ramekin crack an egg in and season (I use a seasoning mix with paprika, etc.), and I like to add a bit…

I'm glad your back is improving, Snoozie. Your cooking sounds delicious, and with fresh veg from your garden too! I have half a cauliflower and some broccoli that I need to use up, along with a lack of motivation and energy, so am looking for easy ideas - soup might be the answer. Because I bought that new grill thing, I…

Thank you, Suzy. It's strange to think she had been reigning for years before I was even born, and I kind of hoped she'd go on for ever. Her mother lived to over 100 so I was hoping it was in her genes. It must have been hard for her to keep working right up till the end, but I think she took her role very, very seriously.…

Interesting about your stance needing correction. I've wondered about that. My father has started standing and walking differently recently because he'd noticed "old men" (he's in his 90s) hunching and having bad posture. So he has consciously adjusted. It had made me wonder if I should do that too. Do you remember years…

That's great news about the hiking shoes, Suzy! I'm so glad you've got a pair that work for you. Good luck with the appointments. I'm glad something is working for your pain, Snoozie too. It sounds like a good idea to take some time off and get things sorted properly. I find standing can really set off my back problem,…

Well, I spoke too soon, because my weight, metabolic age, etc. have crept up again over the past week. I have had a couple of social events with eating and have had that thinking of well, while I'm off the diet anyway, I might as well eat x and then get back on it properly later. I really need to get a grip because I don't…

Have fun with your granddaughter! I love that she is wanting to do things by herself! Just love that age, it's so much fun even though hard work. I was talking to a friend who used to childmind like me, both of us miss it! All the children I used to mind have grown up and most have their own children now! I'm so pleased…

I might see if there is anywhere near me that sticks them so I could try them on. I seem to have odd shaped feet so it's difficult to get shoes to fit but I have arthritis in my toes and would love to have shoes that were more comfortable. I did wear slight heels to my son's wedding, which was the only time I've done that…

I've only just checked in on this group after a long time. I hope things are going well for you. I felt it was overwhelming at the beginning too.

The homegrown veg looks amazing, Snoozie! Very well done! I looked up that shoe brand and they're available here, but quite expensive. Good to know, though. The dance class has been off but I think back on again this week.
-
I'm sorry about your hand problems, Suzy. Especially on top of the existing foot problem. It feels like forever that that has been going on. I didn't imagine that it would still be with you now! I hope you get somewhere with both these things. Well done on logging and being under your goal. I'm convinced that pain makes it…

Glad you got your results, Snoozie, but sounds a bit of a downer in that I was hoping it was something simply and easily cured! I love your attitude of getting on and doing things anyway, and I suppose it's still very helpful to have the results so that you know if you are able to do that without causing damage. But…
-
Yes, I hope so. Give us a shout if you log in, Snoozie! I hope all is OK and you are getting some answers, and that the pain is improving. No my heart issues aren't resolved. I did get referred to a cardiologist, and the hospital phoned me but then said there weren't any appointments. The health service seems to be in…

Sounds like you are right back on track, Suzy! Well done for restarting, and fitting in the exercise and food logging. I still weigh almost every day and the idea is so that I can't be in denial. But who am I kidding? I tend to think in stones, so instead I weigh in pounds because it doesn't mean as much to me. And I can…

It's funny that you have had carb cravings too, Snoozie, but not for the last couple of days. I'm wondering if the roast dinner was the answer? I have been tending not to eat a lot of meat recently, mostly veggie, and maybe I'll try upping that a bit. I noticed I'd written a "small" pizza, but it was actually a two portion…
-
I love a roast dinner, and it's really quite healthy with all the veg, I think, and it sounds like you need the red meat at the moment for iron. Now you've got me thinking - I do have a little tiny dish for the grill that I could maybe make a yorkshire pudding in. I do miss them! It just seems a big expense and bother for…

I've just checked and the other functions were reheat and dehydrate. I have tried the dehydrate to dry sliced strawberries, pear and apple. It took hours and then I ate them very quickly!

Those tortilla things sound nice. I think I've seen them called pinwheels? It reminds me that we used to do something similar with slices of bread but roll it flat, back in the days when we didn't have tortillas. Maybe I imagined that! Good idea for the hot weather. I did make soup in the end. I've been eating more soup,…

Well done on getting the walk in, Suzy. It's so difficult when it's really hot and humid. Feels like you can't breathe and all your energy is drained. Is your house more comfortable? Maybe you could exercise indoors until it's less humid? Although it would be nice to have it as a routine again. I had my lunch wih friends…

Lots of social eating with relatives at the weekend, with the expected weight gain. I did some baking, but I noticed that one of the other women baked a cake but didn't have anything herself: she ate my baking but not her own. I always eat people's baking to be polite, including my own, lol! I hadn't thought that most…
