Sounds like you are right back on track, Suzy! Well done for restarting, and fitting in the exercise and food logging. I still weigh almost every day and the idea is so that I can't be in denial. But who am I kidding? I tend to think in stones, so instead I weigh in pounds because it doesn't mean as much to me. And I can…

It's funny that you have had carb cravings too, Snoozie, but not for the last couple of days. I'm wondering if the roast dinner was the answer? I have been tending not to eat a lot of meat recently, mostly veggie, and maybe I'll try upping that a bit. I noticed I'd written a "small" pizza, but it was actually a two portion…

I love a roast dinner, and it's really quite healthy with all the veg, I think, and it sounds like you need the red meat at the moment for iron. Now you've got me thinking - I do have a little tiny dish for the grill that I could maybe make a yorkshire pudding in. I do miss them! It just seems a big expense and bother for…

I've just checked and the other functions were reheat and dehydrate. I have tried the dehydrate to dry sliced strawberries, pear and apple. It took hours and then I ate them very quickly!

Those tortilla things sound nice. I think I've seen them called pinwheels? It reminds me that we used to do something similar with slices of bread but roll it flat, back in the days when we didn't have tortillas. Maybe I imagined that! Good idea for the hot weather. I did make soup in the end. I've been eating more soup,…

Well done on getting the walk in, Suzy. It's so difficult when it's really hot and humid. Feels like you can't breathe and all your energy is drained. Is your house more comfortable? Maybe you could exercise indoors until it's less humid? Although it would be nice to have it as a routine again. I had my lunch wih friends…

Lots of social eating with relatives at the weekend, with the expected weight gain. I did some baking, but I noticed that one of the other women baked a cake but didn't have anything herself: she ate my baking but not her own. I always eat people's baking to be polite, including my own, lol! I hadn't thought that most…

Glad you enjoyed the steak! You certainly have a good excuse to be eating it. I was listening to yet another podcast about saturated fat and avoiding it, but I do think there are benefits, particularly the iron in your case, protein and B vitamins, etc. I have red meat occasionally for that, and the taste, and because I…

Just laughing at my trendweight results this morning "You are losing 0.1 lbs/week of total weight. You are burning 44 cal/day more than you eat." "You will reach your goal around August 11, 2026." Oh well, at least I'm not gaining! Actually counting that as a success as I'm only a pound above my lowest weight this year.

I have grown tomatoes indoors in a pot before. I didn't get much of a crop but it was nice having homegrown ones! I'm with you on the supermarket tomatoes. I used to get veg delivered from a local greengrocer and sometimes their tomatoes were amazing!

Wow, the garden looks amazing! And all from seed! I am seriously impressed, and I think you should be very proud! I bet it will be satisfying having that ultra fresh food that you've grown yourself. Have you got plans for the garden over the winter? Good luck with the MRI. It will probably be quiet and calm at that time of…

The wet towel actually worked really well! I will use that again if it gets really hot again. Much better than the other things I tried. Hope you're managing to keep cool over there. I had the same issue when my back was really bad that I can't take the usual anti-inflammatory drugs, so got codeine instead. It comes with…

Wow, 3 am! Maybe trying to clear covid backlog by working through the night? I would check with them just be sure it isn't a typo on the appointment, but it's still good that you are getting it investigated quickly. Good luck with it. I would be the same about wanting to get the MRI results before the physio. That's a good…

Oh, that sounds awful, Snoozie! And you've put up with it for 6 weeks! Do you ever get sciatica? Some of it sounds a bit like that but some of it doesn't, and when I've had sciatica it was getting better by 6 weeks. Yes, probably best to get the 10 minute appointment if you can, then book another one. I really hope you can…

You did well to do a walk at all in the heat. I can't cope at all in it! We are having a heatwave here but today was a little cooler and not so sunny so had a lovely day out at a big agricultural show. I ate too much! I feel food is part of the experience but maybe I need to get over that! I just loved seeing all the…

I bet staying home and chilling was good for you! It's difficult to be on the go all the time. And also really difficult keeping on track. Portion sizes and watching the mindless eating sounds like a good plan. I think the portion sizes are good, because I just tend to eat whatever I've prepared, no matter the size. I was…

Thanks, Snoozie. I have actually got a face to face appointment later this week so I must have said the right things on the form! It's famously difficult to get one these days!
-
I'm sorry, Suzy, I'm laughing at you cataloguing everything to get to sleep! It's awful that it should be like that, but true. I was doing an online form to contact the doctor yesterday, and it asks for your symptoms then asks if you have any of these and gives a list of more worrying things, and I never know what to do…

Happy Birthday Suzy! Glad you were able to celebrate with family. Yes, the years are going so quickly. I really feel that at the moment - just whizzing by! I think the chances of anybody coming across me on this forum are slim, but a friend recently had a bit of scare being found and stalked on social media. She didn't…

How awful, Snoozie! Maybe it was the iron tablets. They do seem to make you go either constipated or the other way. I wouldn't have expected anything so dramatic, though! I wonder if because of your previous issues you've had a more extreme reaction. I'm so sorry that you had that experience. It does sound like an absolute…

That's great news about your colonoscopy, Suzy. Although it still doesn't give you an explanation for the pain! Yes, it was just a routine smear test. I had tried topical oestrogen, have tried both a ring and a cream and the ring in particular helped a lot, but didn't quite get things normal enough. Actually my symptoms…

Good luck with the colonoscopy. Changes in bowel habits are one of those things we're always told to get checked out. I hope it goes OK for you. Good to be extra cautious with your family history. I wonder if it will work like Snoozie's and the prep will clear out the "bad" bacteria and let it recolonise. Makes me wonder…

Aww, what a lovely, evocative picture! She's off on an adventure with you!

I'm glad you've had such a lovely vacation, Suzy. I love hearing about your time with your granddaughter. It sounds like you two have such a wonderful relationship. Your garden looks great, Snoozie - I didn't expect to see so much going on! Interesting about the different screening. I'm wondering if I'm missing out now,…
-
Good luck with your ultrasound, Snoozy (visions of you shouting "coming through!" and charging to the front of the queue at the coffee shop after - so funny!). And with the colonoscopy, Suzy. All these investigations! Do you have routine colonoscopies over there? We don't here. Our inner workings are a mystery. Over 60 I…
-
Just popping in quickly before work and read your comment about the colonoscopy, Suzy! Something to look forward to - I can't stop laughing! Hope it all goes well for you. And thanks for the giving the temperature in celsius! That's hot! So funny about the yellow leaves, Snoozie. That's my experience of gardening. My…

You are very brave going for a hike in the heat! Anywhere I've been that's really hot, I avoid anything physical. I suppose you can do the two miles before the midday sun hits! I suppose you are all prepared with sunscreen, etc. I won't tell you the temperature here because I get confused, but it has been mild, but windy,…

And I sat on a giant Jubilee deckchair - NSV that I managed to get up on to it and off again! More very old buildings in the background.

The walk into town from my house A very old and pretty door on the way into town. Lots of old buildings here. This one's from 1324. The tables where I sat to eat my lunch!

Love the photo, Snoozie! Sounds like a great trip, and nice to be social with the relatives. Glad you had a good family visit too, Suzy. Intuitive eating, yes, of course I've done that! Can you guess how much weight I lost? Ha ha! It just doesn't work for me, as I get really confused signals from my body, telling me it's…
