If you do basic exercises the smartphone would be most useful however choose a phone with a good battery life. I personally use a HRM and a smartphone. I like to do hill sprints, yard work, weightlifting etc. There are other calculators out there that can calculate calories burned for running/jogging.

Finished C25k last week and its a awesome program! I would recommend learning the proper stretches to avoid injury setbacks. Also, learn to breathe with your belly and not your chest, it doesn't matter if its through your nose, mouth or both. I'm bridging to 10k now!

I used to work nights (11pm - 7am) for about 3 years. I loved it except working weekends :frown: It was difficult getting my eating routine down because I would get confused about when to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In January of 2012 I weighed about 330lbs and it scared me because I didn't know if the scale was accurate so I never weighed again until I decided do something about it! Today was weigh in - 288.6 and counting down!

I have a heart rate monitor that I use. I haven't been to boot camp yet but that's coming up! HRM's let you know when you in that optimal fat burning zone based on your heart rate.

Thats great advice! Make sure you are aware of their return policy before you buy because they may not take them back if you wear them outdoors. I noticed a difference when I when I combined MFP with C25k. I was on my 5th week at that point. I finished C25k last week.

Congratulations! I ran my first 5k the 1st weekend of June and it had one long hill that was killer! It was extremely exciting, and to see all the people lined up to watch you finish gave more energy and enthusiasm! I'm looking at 4 more 5k's this year.

Six teaspoons of Epsom salt in warm water will get it moving. I had the same problem and I drink 8 - 10 cups of water a day and plenty of fiber. Then a friend reminded me its the medicine I take thats doing it to me.

I can do well at Subway, Quiznos, Wendy's. Subway lets you build your sandwich on their website so you'll you know how many calories it is including condiments. Quiznos also advertises meals that under "x" amount of calories Wendy's - baked sweet potato and garden salad with raspberry vinaigrette, awesome!

I didn't eat breakfast until I started on MFP. I used to a lifestyle change program called Naturally Slim where they stated it was okay not to eat until you were hungry and then eat a balance meal. Believe it or not, I actually lost weight doing that without exercise.

^^^^^^ This is it! ^^^^^^ Don't focus on the distance, focus on your time. You're building endurance and it takes time to build speed. I'm actually doing hill sprints to help build leg strength, speed and endurance. Btw I'm on week 9 day 3 and I don't care if I have to walk sometimes...

Its hard for me to tell. I know I gained more weight in between my last doctors visit and my lifestyle change. I guess the best way to tell is to try on clothes you were wearing at that time and see if they fit different.

Its a great program! I'm on week 9 day 2 and didn't think I would ever get here. I love it because it takes the guess work out of what your doing and you can measure your progress every week and the program progresses!

Almonds are great! Also sweet potatoes can easily be heated up in the microwave and provide a great source of carbs for working out and it somewhat filling!
