Its possible that you're not burning as many calories as you're recording for your workout. So when you do "eat back calories" you are consuming more calories than you should to maintain weight loss. I never eat back more than half my calories, if I eat that much.

Who set your calorie limit? If you set your own calorie limit, you may be placing your body in starvation mode. Losing weight does include eating. You need fuel to burn.

Add sweet potatoes! Excellent source of carbs and other nutrients. Great workout fuel and its filling and cheap!

What baffles me is when I read someone burned calories doing "desk work". Can somebody explain that to me?

A friend of mine introduce the HRM's to me so I went out bought me a Garmin FR60 and love it! Its a great tool to go with MFP to manage weight!!!

What she said. Its a lifestyle not a punishment. Enjoy your birthday guilt free, you have so much to celebrate!

You do have a point! I experienced shins splints and foot cramping so I went to a running shoe store so they could recommend some running shoes by looking at my gait. That didn't work for me because I went from having minor problems to major knee pain and discomfort in my lower legs. I stop wearing the recommended shoes…

Week 5 day 3 isn't as bad as it sounds. I was terrified myself and ran it nonstop! Just set your pace and breathe with your belly and you'll be fine!
-
Week 9 and loving it! I ran my 1st 5k 2 weekends ago and finished in 41 minutes. Half of the race was uphill! I'm going to wear the 5k out and move on to the 10k!

Yea, I haven't heard anything good about HCG. Even the FDA is cracking down on their claims and issuing warnings.

I had a coworker use phentermine with out exercise or strict diet and she lost about 18lbs in two months, but she did lower her caloric intake and stop eating fried chicken. I talked to my doctor about it and it he was all for it! He had no problem with the drug but wanted it to be accompanied with a lifestyle change. He…

I have found that getting as much oxygen in and out; breathing through your belly and not your chest will make you a much quieter runner. It really gives you more control over your breathing and you won't feel winded. My legs get tired before my wind runs out.

I breath through my mouth but with my belly and not my chest. Belly breathing is the secret...

The Day After scared the *kitten* out of me! I was about 13 when that movie came out and all you heard about was nuclear war. Most of the schools that I went to up that point were designated fall out shelters. A portion of the movie was filmed 3 blocks from home at a hospital under demolition. I watched movie one time and…

You're not counting them twice because like you said, you burn calories just breathing, but you burn more calories being active working out. So the HRM will calculate the calories burned in addition to your "just breathing" calories.

I do wear it when cutting grass but the sex has me really intrigued as to how many calories I burn. It may become my new favorite calorie burner!
-
Congratulations! This is what its all about! Everyone can do it if they are determined and committed to the change.

Do the C25k with weightlifting and you will burn a lot of fat fast. I hear a lot of people say they had knee problems running, I did too until I googled runners knee and stretches for runners. Now I run without a knee brace or anything. You will lose weight doing what you love the most because that will be the most intense!

I get so sick of people that believe everything he says applies to them. He's not always right and there are so many variables to consider to be general. He does more damage than good because people hear what they want to hear and believe they are in better shape than they actually are.

We are >>>here<<< on that! I love to run outside. You can increase your speed by running up hill or doing some hill sprints. I don't like treadmills, never have!
-
Its truly a lifestyle change. Whatever you did to lose it, has to become apart of you. Working out has to remain apart of your weekly schedule. Balance is key. Enjoy some of the things you love and you want to feel guilty, do so after a good workout!

What they said....

I've done Atkins before and lost about 30lbs in about a month or so. It would be great to jump start your weight loss but I do believe that counting your calories is the best, safest way to manage weight. The drawbacks to a high protein / low carb diet is it can give you bad breath and make you feel sluggish. You may also…

Im on week 6 day 3 of C25k and plan on running in my first 5k this weekend. I know I'm not ready for that just yet but I won a free entry.

I started out walking and transitioned to walk/runs. I started having started having shin splints and foot cramping. So I went to a running shoe store that recommended some expensive running shoes to correct my "over-pronation". It made things worse for me. It went to hurting the inside of my lower legs and my knees. I no…

I agree. If you want to get a consistent, more accurate reading of everything you do, get a heart rate monitor. Heart rate monitors will better help with calories burned than the guestimates you get from other calculations. There are to many variables to consider, so the hrm can tell you when you reach your optimum calorie…

I drink plain tap or bottled water, just whatever is available. On days that I run, I add Nunn tablets to my water. Its like gatorade without the sugar and other stuff you don't want or need.

I believe in balance with everything you do. You still need time to enjoy living. I run 3 days a week, Sun-Tue-Thu. On Mon - Wed - Friday I do some light lifting. None of what I do is more than an hour. I get straight to my workouts and don't do a lot of sitting around or chit chatting. I also only weigh myself once a…
