  • . I don't know why you think you can't wear the chest strap underwater???? I sweat like crazy when I workout and it's no problem...I wash it out in the shower...no problem...I have swam with it....No problem...True you can't press the buttons underwater but why would you need to. I just start it before getting in the water…
  • Polar F6...You just can't press the buttons underwater...I've swam many times with mine : )
  • I seriously woried about that too for awhile...I even found myself avoiding fruits because of it....but quite frankly there is a huge difference between the sugar in sweets and those in fruits...So personally I ignore my sugar overages when they're fruit related!
  • *LOL*....I actually wish it was a much smaller number...............The girls were never something I minded and I definitely miss them...It's no fun going from a voluptous DD to a saggy C : (
  • Swimming! But really your focus should be on healing....far too often people are soo anxious to get back to the routine that they go back too soon & just end re-injuring the original injury or injuring something else b/c of over-compensation. Why not just focus on diet alone while you heal?
  • It would help to know where your #'s are coming from...HRM's (w/chest strap) are generally going to be most accurate b/c they take gender, age, height, & weight into account and they get a constant HR reading. Following that would be machines...but how much information they gather, and thus how accurate they are, varies…
  • Being a size 4 is a first for me too!!! And something I never thought possible : )
  • *LOL*....I've contemplated making my diary public at times....but I don't consider myself a poster child for perfect nutrition and don't want anyone to try and duplicate what I do because everyone's different. So, NO! I didn't do a particular diet system...I've had friends do Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, South Beach,…
  • I know what you mean....Unfortunately I feel like I'm way past the point of losing the "woman curves" which truly saddens me. Unfortunately our bodies don't let us chose where the weight comes off : ( I've found that for me it comes from my upper body 1st and hangs out in my lower body. Which is unfortunate because having…
  • Scary but true : p)
  • I had a body composition test ( biometric..something) done last week. Afterwards I asked about metabolic testing. I was told that unles I was concerned about a possible thyroid problem or diabetes it wouldn't be worth the money ($15).....Since I've lost weight at a steady rate (thyroid working properly) & have no…
  • After doing a lot of online research & reading a lot of forum posts on MFP I came to the conclusion that the brand with the highest user satisfaction was Tanita. I ended up getting a high-end Tanita (all the bells & whistles like body fat %, etc.) from Bed Bath & Beyond. It was originally $100 but was on sale for $50 a I…
  • That's awesome! I still reme.ber how good that first 10lbs felt :))
  • Congrats :)) Doesn't it feel great to not only have clothes that actually fit but also to find out just how many size you've gone down? Keep up the hard work & you'll reach your goal before you know it :))
  • There's no difference between teaching animals new behaviors & teaching people new behaviors. All it take is consistency, clear expectations, and proper motivation/reinforcement :))
  • Eat more!!!! You should eat daily +50% (if ur exercise calorie burn is an online estimate or from a machine) or more (if u use a heart rate monitor). You'll definately go into starvation mode eating less than that. As for foods add some nuts & fresh fruits & veggies....there's also lots of other options for protein like…
  • When they say "no" say "okay, since you don't need anything I'm going to workout for 1 hr and I will not answer if you knock on the door". Then lock the door, put on headphone & listen to your favorite tunes while working out. You'll have good music which will make the workout more fun AND when they inevitably pound on the…
  • Everything in moderation :) It's better to have a little bit on a regular basis than deny yourself & get to the point of binging. Soo long as your eating a well balanced diet & staying within your daily calories you'll be fine. Personally, sweet treats are something I have as a reward for my hard earned exercise calories.…
  • Wow! We have really similar stats :) I started at 235 squeezed into a 16 :p) and am now 150 and in a comfy 8. I'm jealous of your muscle definition though :) I've still got the arm jigglies
  • 1. Add the sodium column to your food diary. If ur eating too much sodium you'll retain water. 2. Drink water. At least 8 8-oz glasses. If you're exercising or exceeding daily sodium more. 3. log everything that goes in your mouth including beverages. 4. Weigh in at the same time of day & only 1x per week. Most people do…
  • Thanks for the tip! I checked out old navy and actually found some dress pants that fit decently and didn't break the bank! Thanks soo much!
  • WOW! You're gorgeous :) Your transformation is amazing...I can't wait until I get to my goal! Knowing that you reached your goal & have been able to maintain even with a pregnancy is such an inspiration for all of us on this journey! Congratulations :)
  • Pain is your bodies way of telling you that something is wrong. So you don't want to simply ignore it. It may be that you aren't stretching well enough before & after working out. Look online for back stretches & see if that helps. My favorite lower back stretch is where you stand feet more than shoulder-width apart (no…
  • I say go for it! Whether you reach your goal # or not you'll still be healthier at the end of the year than at the beginning : ) I started this journey with MFP 7 months ago & have lost 71lbs so your goal may be doable :) Also, Thanks to MFP I am the lightest I've ever been in my adult life. MFP just made it soo obvious to…
  • 2 things.....1st...it could be water weight. I had a week where I ate out twice but stayed w/in calories both times. On Sunday I had 0lbs lost even though I'm set for 2lbs & had been consistently losing it :( The next week I was down 4 lbs :) Only possible explanation was water weight from eating more sodium than usual!…
  • I agree w/everyone! Definitely take advantage of free personal training, if it's part of your membership, or pay for 1 or 2 sessions. Be sure to let the trainer know that you're a novice looking for a good routine to start off with. Form is very important b/c you don't want to end up injured. The trainer can show you how…
  • I tried that too w/no luck :( I think it's mostly b/c chest straps require perspiration (eg damp skin) to get an accurate reading--that's why the manual says to wet the sensors if it's not getting & reading. We're a lot less likely to perspire while sleeping because of inactivity!
  • Currently it's unclear : p)....... I always wear Levi's 550's jeans, which are relaxed fit so they fit great but I have noticed that the sizing is more forgiving than other cuts--that is I usually wear a smaller size than in other brands. So I recently tried on a pair of size 8's I bought over Thanksgiving and they fit…
