  • I also use a Polar, mine is an F7. When I was looking it seems the most popular brand on MFP, if you go to their web site you can check out the different models and see what features you need or want to pay for, good luck.
  • I also failed W7D1 first attempt, try again Wed. I think it is just time for a rest day, I find I need at least one day per week of rest. I do the c25k every other day, but am also cycling on the off days and days like today with my failed run I also cycled 18 miles. New bike, hard to leave it parked long.

  • You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose.
  • Good point.
  • First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
  • Today 17 miles this week 28 miles this month 63 miles
  • Hi I'm also 51 and haven't ridden since I was about 12. I just bought a Cannondale cyclocross bike and other than a really sore backside, I'm enjoying this new form of exercise.
  • 11.4 miles today 45 for the month
  • I just heard that these bicycle guys doing the tour de France right now have to eat 6000-8000 cal per day to keep up, they normally do over a hundred miles in a stage and keep it up for 12 days or something with only 2 off days. Wow.
  • Are you crazy??? Do you know how much 'undies' weigh? I even take off my watch. But I don't post it on here unless I get the same number two days in a row. :noway:
  • I prefer my toilet paper roll not on a holder, but if you insist on a holder then at least have it come off the back close to the wall out of the way.
  • Challenge yourself, you don't improve by continuing to do what you know you can do. Go get it, you can do it, and if the unthinkable happens and you don't make it then try again and push just a little farther, repeat as necessary. Good Luck let us know how it goes, and tell your friends that your going to do it. Thats what…
  • Control room operator in a gas plant in northern BC.
  • I work 4 on 4 off, get off at 8 am. Last one tonight. Then 12 days off which is the best part about working shift, lots of time off.
  • Sweet, I just picked up a Cannondale cyclocross bike myself.
  • This was fun, also before losing any weight. http://youtu.be/fZlGS263xHM
  • Please feel free to add this old, fatass. I've got thick skin and realize we are all here to lose weight and get fit. Hopefully we can help each other along the way.
  • Really? I like the cool down, it means I made it and I get to walk for awhile. It really is better for you than just laying down on the sidewalk which is what I really felt like doing after the 20 min run.
  • Lots of cardio. I'm at 1710 calories per day and feel hungry at the end of the day unless I burn 400 cal doing cardio, then I can eat that back guilt free and still lose 1 lb/week and not be hungry. Win/win. Fat ans happy as the saying goes.
  • All four of my kids plus two of their wifes just finished a tough mudder and while they are in decent shape none of them trained overly hard for it. What I mostly heard about when they got back was how much fun they had, not how hard it was. Go enjoy, I don't even know if there is a prize for first place, just a prize for…
  • Just did W5D3 toughest one yet but boy it feels so good to know I did it. I guess they are all tough, but the program does take you one step at a time. I had to do W3D3 3 times before I got my athsmas medication right and my knee was acting up, but with those things straightened out the steps are doable. Just don't let…
  • Now that is good advice.
  • If your hungry between meals do some cardio to earn extra calories that you can eat guilt free. That's how I end up with a full belly at the end of the day, and your to busy to keep your face in the cookie jar.
  • A related question, I just got a HRM and went for a jog, when I got back my heart rate was 111 bpm so even though the jog was over I was still burning calories. Do you keep counting calories burnt until your back to normal resting heart rate?

  • I noticed I don't have to come up for air in between cutting each toenail. Gotta hate that when your head turns purple trying to get the last little piggy. :)

  • Not sure about the elliptical yet, I just got my Polar F7, but I tried 20 min vigourous biking (avg 14.88 mph) and got credit for 322 cal. Also doing C25k W5D2 which is walk 5min, run 8min walk 5min run 8min walk 5min and got 299 cal. So it sounds close. I'm 51, 208lb and 5'7". Hope this helps.
  • I think most instruments including scales are most accurate in the middle of their range, so if your scale will work from zero to 300 lbs, it isn't going to be as accurate at the high and low end of that range. If you weight 150 lbs and weigh yourself holding those two 10 lb weights that should be 170 lbs, in the middle…
  • I had a lady tell me that before and even though I wasn't interested in her. I was very flattered, nice ego boost. So ladies please feel free to objectify me, but if one day I sound a little blue, then let me know to pump me back up. Oh....and pictures would be appreciated too.
