Runkeeper lets you set your pace and how often to be updated verbally or with beeps. You can also play your music, it also updates the run keeper website so you can analyze your run afterward. It also has free training plans, I'm currently doing the " Complete a 1/2 marathon in 2:30"

I'm currently tracking my running and cycling on MFP, polar personal trainer, Bicycling.com training log, and Runkeeper. So far Runkeeper has the most possible features, but anything more than the basics requires run keeper elite for $5/month or $20/year. So I'm still looking too.

When I started if I forgot to take a puff before starting, my lungs would quit inside 5 min, now when I forget I can make it 2 miles or more before I have to walk. So I think your…

Seems pretty straight forward, put on a heart rate monitor and run for 1 hour then try lifting for one hour and see which burns more calories...case closed.

Sadly I never had any asthma when I was young, I developed exercise induced asthma at 42 at the same time developed lactose intolerance. I guess your hormones are always changing and you can get better or worse just as easy, but I've recently ran my first 5k without any walking, so it can be controlled.

I am only starting week 8 but decided to try 5k and made it in 38:48 with no walking, wow I would never have guessed it possible 8 weeks ago. I'm 51 and the only running I ever did was in grade 7 gym class we were supposed to run 1 mile. As soon as the teacher was out of sight me and a buddy would jump into the bush and…

If it helps my resting heart rate when I first turn the HRM on is around 65 then if I get up and move around I'm up near 74 so that isn't much of a HR. What is your resting heart rate?

Northern BC here, hot here too, but no complaints. Someone asked me what we do up here in the summer and I told them that if it falls on a weekend we normally go to the lake.

So to increase your speed your HR must also increase then?
