I also want to let people know that this is possible even if you are dealing with depression or other similar challenges. I myself am Bipolar and on those days that are hard to focus or even get out of bed I take a couple of minutes and log as best I can. I don't worry about how much I am eating, only that I get it down. I…

Thanks. Just because I don't respond much I don't want you to think that I don't appreciate your support and dedication.
-
Thanks. I am 5' 9" or so.
-
Thanks. I wasn't sure.
-
I really appreciate all the support everyone has shown. I have seen some posts regarding the negative exchanges some people have experienced on here but for myself it has been nothing but positive.
-
Thanks. It's one that I made myself.
-
Thank you everyone for your feedback.
-
Thanks. It looks like this one is only a couple hundred off the totals cedarghost was supplying so I would view that as a fairly solid confirmation.
-
So if I am following this right, if I leave the total at 1800 as per the guided MFP result, then those days I do my 500 calorie workout I will have 2300 calories for eating. That would seem to be right where you are estimating it, correct? And if I do happen to go over my 1800 calorie limit by 1 or 2 hundred on those other…

Okay, so as of right now I have my MFP settings at: Age: 41 Height: 5' 9.5" Current Weight: 223 Goal Weight: 180lbs Activity: Light Pounds/Week: 1.5 Daily Calorie Intake: 1820 Does this sound closer to anybody?

Sometimes it seems like the more I learn, the more confused I get. :noway:
-
I am thinking about picking up some calipers. Would these be close enough to guide me do you think?
-
TR0berts, I have the book "The New Rules of Lifting" and I have previously lifted weights but they were machines, it was about 5 - 7 years ago and I doubt if I was even doing them right. I will look into your recommendations.
-
Thanks for the info on the Body Fat Calculator TR0berts. As depressing as it may be. :)
-
Thanks cedarghost for your feedback. Just to clarify, that height is in inches only (69.5) so I am really 5' 9 1/2" and currently at 223 lbs. I'm not sure how that would affect the numbers you were quoting. Truth be told I am not sure if I could follow it properly. I am starting with weights as well. What do you mean by…

Okay, already I am finding new conflicting information via MFP. By: - changing my goal weight to 182 instead of 170 - dropping my weight loss per week to 1.5lbs from 2lbs - Leaving my activity as Sedentary I get a result of 1,630 net calories consumed as opposed to the 1,655 I arrived at doing it manually. The big…

I gained 2 pounds. The only reason I am really annoyed with myself is because I had just reached my goal of 35 pounds down by New Year's and now I am back up to 33. Hopefully I can lose it again by Monday.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I haven't even stalled yet but my anxiety is beginning to build over it. I bought some new barbells and I haven't been able to bring myself to use them yet. I think I am a little afraid to start in case I don't get the results I would hope for. I don't expect this stuff to happen overnight…

I take Seroquel for my Bipolar and when I first got on it I gained 20 pounds in less than a month. I discussed it with my psychiatrist and we decided to bring the dosage down while monitoring it. In the end we found the right dose that keeps me balanced and does not contribute to my weight issues. I am now down 19 pounds…

Thanks everybody. I am looking for a used set of free weights I can use in my apartment.

A new ring that fits and a tattoo.

This is one of the most amazing transitions I have ever seen. This is also why the Success Stories board is my favourite on MFP.
-
So I changed my Net Calories Consumed in my settings to 2407 (my calculated required daily intake) and MFP showed the results as 0.6 lbs / week. In order to get it back to 2.0 lbs per week I had to bring my Net Calories Consumed down to 1750. This would equal a 42% cut from my TDEE of 3009, much more than the initial 20% I…
-
Okay, I am trying to manually set my goals but I can't figure out how to set my own TDEE in MFP. I can change the calories burned from normal daily activity by changing my level of activity in the settings but I can't figure out how to factor in the TDEE that I calculated. Can somebody take pity on me and just shove me in…
-
I should add, I couldn't figure out how to factor in the calculations that my goal was to lose 2 lbs a week so they could be off.
-
Thanks for the link. I have used the calculator on that page and have come up with the following using the Katch-McArdle Formula. DETERMINING FACTORS Current Weight: 247 lbs Current Body Fat: 32% Desired Body Fat: 12% Lean Body Mass: 167 Activity: Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) Activity…
-
So if I am understanding correctly, if/when I have a set routine exercise schedule, I should calculate my own TDEE based on things like body fat and level of activity and reduce it by 10 - 20% and use that number in MFP. Due to the fact that I am still figuring out my workouts and I am not consistent I should probably just…
-
So do you think I should set my MFP goals manually? Is that what most people are doing?
-
Thanks. I am considering doing the 30 Day Shred as many days as I can and add weight training on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the cardio on the rest.
-
Amazing transformation. I only hope I can reach even 80% of your success.
