Lost up to 80 pounds over a couple year period and maintained a 70lbs loss average over 6 years
I have been feeling very down and in rough shape lately and I have decided to try and look for some positives in my life to remind me that some things can get better. Not sure how successful I am going to be but today I decided to start with this. 1805 days logging and still going...

1000 days and still in the game
Today is my 1000th (that's right, 3 zeros) day managing my calorie intake. I have danced around my allowance more than once but I have never stopped tracking and it has allowed me to reign things back in when they are getting too far out of whack. After 1000 days, I have kept off 52 of the original 65 pounds I lost and I…

One Year Anniversary
Today is my one year weight loss anniversary. I haven't hit my goal yet but I am pretty happy with my progress so far. I have posted my thoughts about it on my blog (copy and paste the link below to view it). http://www.christophermuggridge.com/65-pounds-one-year-later-and-what-ive-learned-so-far/ I really want to thank…

Being realistic about weight loss
When I started my journey I needed to lose 85 pounds. In the first 3 months I had set my goal to 2lbs per week and ended up losing 30lbs at a consistent pace. After that point I started to notice that the losing streak was slowing down and even went up 3 pounds. On the good advice of others here I changed my weight loss…

Jack Astor's Chicken Quesadilla
For lunch today I had Grilled Chicken Quesadillas (6 came with the order). I can find the calorie count as it was served but I have not been able to find the calorie count without the pico de gallo sauce (which I did not have). Does anyone know how much the sauce would have come to? Jack Astor's Canada 987 Calories (with…

Almost halfway to goal progress pics
I started my efforts on October 1, 2012 and have now almost reached the halfway point of my 170lb goal. I thought I would share a couple of progress pics...

New Clothing NSV
Broke down this week and bought some new clothes as my current ones are getting too baggy. Went from an extra large dress shirt to large and a 42" waist pants to a 36" (granted a snug 36" but I will take it where I can get it). Weight training starts next week.

Eat too much one day, work out more the next?
Is this helpful at all? I am on the road for business today and I know I am going to go over my limit without any chance of exercise. If I exercise tomorrow to cover what I overate will it compensate?

Recalculating the MFP Goals - A Personal Experience
For the past 100+ days I have been working with the recommendations given by MFP and I have come to the realization that this may not be the ideal process. I did lose consistent weight for a while but lately I am starting to see myself plateau and I just get hungrier and hungrier. 1. My initial approach using MFP only…

Trying to classify workout intensity
I am using my stationary bike 3 to 4 times a week for an average of 60 - 70 minutes at a time and burning 500+ calories each time (1500 - 2000 calories per week). What level of activity would you consider this to fit under? I have been trying to research it and am finding mixed results. Your help is appreciated as I…

Reached My First Goal
Today I reached my first personal goal of losing 35 pounds by New Years. I even have a week to spare.

Clothing NSV
I bought a new suit last December and had it fitted. This morning I put that same suit on and after buttoning them up they fell down over my hips. Now I have to wear them to a business luncheon, cinched around my waist with my belt.

Small NSV
Had to buy a new belt today. My old one had run out of holes.

Weight Loss Paranoia
Lately I have been getting very anxious about my weight loss. I have been losing weight at a steady pace and there is no real reason to expect it won't continue but my mind keeps fixating on the thought that the loss will stop and I won't be able to lose anymore no matter what I try. I am a little concerned that I may…

Belly NSV
Put a t-shirt on today and instead of being fairly tight across my belly it actually kind of hung straight down with some room to spare. Doesn't matter how the rest of my day goes, I've got that.

Free Weights vs Machines
I have been reading The New Rules of Lifting and the author really encourages free weights over the machines. I currently only have access to machines, no free weights. I really want to start with the weights but now I wonder if I will be able to get the results I am looking for. Can anybody who has used machines instead…

TDEE MFP Deficit
This may be a stupid question but I keep seeing "Calculate your TDEE and setup a 10% to 20% calorie deficit based on that..." Is this what MFP does when I enter my info and it calculates my calorie intake for the day? Or should I be applying the 10 - 20% to the number MFP gives me?

Length of Time Exercising
I am 40 years old, 5' 9", weight 247 lbs and 32.2% body fat. My target is 170 lbs / 16 % body fat. Currently I fit my workouts (30 Day Shred) in during my lunch hour with some additional cardio on some evenings. The length of time for either of these activities is 25 to 45 minutes with an average burn of 200 calories doing…

Bipolar NSV
I realize this may not be along the same lines of many of the NSVs here but it was a big deal for me and I just wanted to share my experience. Sometimes when I shares these things and get them out it makes it easier for my mind to really recognize and accept them. I am bipolar and I have episodes of hypomania and episodes…

Sedentary or Lightly Active
I realize this has been discussed elsewhere on the forums but I am faced with a bit of a nagging doubt regarding my own situation. I want to give this effort my all and I am not sure if I should be eating more or less. I'm afraid that too much one way or the other will negatively impact my progress. Currently I have my…

30 Day Shred. Thought I was going to die.
I am so impressed by anyone who has made it through all 3 levels of the 30 Day Shred program. I just completed my first day and I have to admit there were a few times in the middle that I wasn't so sure if I would be able to finish. As it was I had to take a few breathers just to get through it. I am hoping that I will be…
