Weight Loss Paranoia

Lately I have been getting very anxious about my weight loss. I have been losing weight at a steady pace and there is no real reason to expect it won't continue but my mind keeps fixating on the thought that the loss will stop and I won't be able to lose anymore no matter what I try. I am a little concerned that I may start doing some drastic changes and overdoing the exercise as a result.
I know it all sounds a little ridiculous and I am trying to convince myself to just relax but I am wondering if I am the only one who ever feels like this.

You're not alone. I tend to get more anxious when I lose less than my predicted "1 pound per week", even though I know fully well people retain water, body composition can mess around with things, etc. I know better, but I still fear failure, is I guess what it boils down to for me.0

I think everyone goes through phases of this sort of glass half empty thinking and it isn't unusual to stall, but don't sweat it, weight loss is rarely linear with fat being lighter in volume than water and muscle the scales can sometimes wind you up. ie you may have lost 2 pounds of fat but retained 2 pounds of water if you're exercising and your muscles retain water. Just keep at it, if you're losing at a good pace now just enjoy it and if you stall in the future, which happens to nearly everyone on here, get some advice then
Good luck and well done so far

Thanks for everyone's feedback. I haven't even stalled yet but my anxiety is beginning to build over it. I bought some new barbells and I haven't been able to bring myself to use them yet. I think I am a little afraid to start in case I don't get the results I would hope for. I don't expect this stuff to happen overnight or without putting in some work, it just seems like this irrational (albeit small) fear is starting to freeze me up.
Anyway, I will push through it but I just wanted to know that I am not the only one who can get like this from time to time.0 -
Hey hun, I think everyone is different.
I did Slimming world once, a lady stayed the same for weeks, poor lady had enough and one lady asked if she was eating enough and then the following week she lost! the leader said it might have been her retaining water for not eating enough. It could be anything. If you get to a point where you worry try changing things up. exersize in the morning instead of the eve and have a larger lunch and a smaller dinner that kinda thing. You should be fine and this site seems to have everything going for it. I am watching my fiber intake as i struggle in that area and retain buckets of water!
Good luck but i am sure you will do amazingly!0 -
It doesn't sound ridicilous at all. I have those same thoughs too every now and again.0
