I'd recommend calculating your BMR and eating somewhere around there. Mine's around 1700 and my goal is 1550 each day. If you don't know what it is, Google it, or check out the group here on MFP called "Eat More to Weigh Less" and they'll explain it very well.

It's easy to log, but by not really deviating much, I know that I get bored and I'm more likely to "binge" and just eat foods that I usually don't eat. Definitely check out Pinterest!! It will definitely broaden the spectrum and even for picky eaters!

No cheat days, just moderation! I eat ice cream frequently throughout the week, as long as it fits into the goals I've set for myself. This is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE, not a diet, and if I can't have ice cream every once in a while in the hot Florida weather, then everything is hopeless.

The temp. thing definitely makes sense! Body fat acts like an insulator making you warmer, an example being almost any animal that lives in a cold climate (they're usually surrounded by a nice layer of fat to keep the cold out).

That is awesome!! I've had problems running due to my rather serious asthma and since the middle of May when I started to try to run, I can complete a mile walking/running in 13:30 which is probably one of my fastest miles ever.
