  • Granola bars, apples, pears, grapes, carrots, celery, green or red peppers, even a premade sandwich would work. Good luck with the interview!
  • If you like yogurt (specifically Greek yogurt), a good combination I have found is fruit (multiple varieties - whatever kind you may like) mixed with Greek yogurt and granola. Depending on the fruits, it usually falls between 200-300 calories. Pair that with 1/2 a sandwich or a wrap, and you're in your 400-500 calorie…
  • It took me some time to start dropping the pounds, but I lost almost as many inches as I've dropped pounds already. It does take time - it's not a quick fix Band-Aid approach. I agree with other posters - eat at your calorie goal plus eat back a portion of your exercise calories. Another thing to note - make sure to…
  • That's a great idea! I have about 30% of my closet that I feel doesn't fit me well anymore (too loose, too baggy). I want to get new clothes, but not too soon either. Maybe I'll make a trip to Goodwill soon...
  • I find something light does the trick for me - usually. Last night I did indulge a bit with a small shortcake with strawberries and blueberries, topped with a small scoop of vanilla custard. It was so good!
  • Congratulations! You look great!
  • You can add me if you'd like. I'm currently at 211 and looking to drop a good 50-60 pounds total, though I'm at 7 pounds down since I restarted in May 2013.
  • I'd second this statement. I have significantly changed my eating habits over the past year. For example, my lunch used to be my largest meal of the day - 1 to 2 sandwiches (calculated out to about 400+ calories apiece!), chips, pudding, maybe some candy, and maybe a little piece of fruit. I'm betting my lunches were at…
  • Not at all! My 5 year old is my motivator, and she'll even ask me when I go to the gym "How long did you do the treadmill? How long did you ride the bike? Did you go swimming today?" And for days that I don't go to the gym - she'll suggest a walk around our neighborhood if it's nice, or do yoga or Pilates with me!…
  • I'll usually add 1/2 tbsp. of liquid creamer (International Delight or Coffeemate - always a fat free variety), 4 packets of sweet'n'low, 1 tsp of Trader Joe's coffee grinder (sugar, coffee beans, and chocolate), and 1/2 tbsp. dry sugar-free vanilla creamer. Oh - it's all added to a large cup of coffee brewed by my Keurig!
  • I just calculated my TDEE (currently working out 3 times per week, 211 pounds) and it stated 2411, which would put me at 1928 calories per day! If I eat close to 1700 calories (non-workout day), I gain weight. I do have a slow metabolism, always have, no matter what my eating habits have been. And I am very on top of my…
  • My recommendation on this would be to change your eating habits to eating multiple small meals each day. You won't mess up your metabolism, and your body will absorb the nutrients you eat properly.
  • One thing that I have found that has helped me is to have a defining goal in mind. Something tangible helps as well. It's great to say "I want to be healthy", or "I want to look good", but something you can see every day is helpful too. Mine right now (which is hanging on the back of my closet door) is a dress I wore for…
  • I get to sleep anywhere between 10:00pm-11:30pm Sunday-Thursday, and am up between 5:30am-6:00am. I do my workouts primarily at night, 3-5 days a week. Weekends vary on my sleep schedule - though usually I'm asleep by midnight, and up between 6:00am-8:00am.
  • Greek yogurt is a great addition! Also add some cucumbers or fruit to get some juice into it.
  • I was totally thinking something else until you hit the Big Mac. I agree though - I'd often stop and get a Double Cheeseburger (or McDouble, as they're now called) on the way to then make dinner. Have no intention of doing that ever again. If I splurge and get fast food - that's my meal, not my appetizer.
  • I had cut way back on my soda intake, but due to a crazy schedule this past week I've had more again. I feel drained, and know that it's in part due to the soda/coffee I've consumed in the past week. After today I'm determined to cut it out again, and hoping I'll be back full of energy once again. BTW - my norm had been a…
  • I tend to agree. I readjust my workout calories based on the machines at my gym - not what MFP states. And I also have a comprehensive list of calories I should be ranging in for certain exercises compiled from a variety of sources. So I plug in what I know was burned per exercise. :)
  • Mine was from physical labor at work plus an hour workout. I ate what I was able to, but I cannot arbitrarily just eat to consume the calories. This is all about a lifestyle change - my metabolism increases with eating HEALTHY foods - hence not calorie heavy foods.
  • If it's a daily routine, you definitely need to add more calories into your diet. At the same time, you don't want to eat to the point that you're not balancing out what you've achieved. Maybe take some lighter workouts in between, add some healthy fats (a handful of nuts would do that), and don't stress about MFP…
  • Considering it's still 20 degrees, I'd say sweats would be your best option. I live in Wisconsin. and during winter 20 degrees can feel nice, but you still want to ensure that you are protected from the elements. And the way I look at it, if you get a bit warm, it'll just enhance the workout more! :) Good luck!
  • There really isn't anything I miss, as I still do things in moderation. However, I will say that every once in a while I will splurge. But even doing that, I don't eat nearly what I used to.
  • I honestly do both. We have a gym membership that helps to reduce the amount of our daughter's swim lessons and gymnastics classes, but I also utilize the machines there too. However, there are times when working out at home is helpful too. I get to be more machine focused at the gym (and swimming too!), and more video…
  • Love it!
  • Great job! Your success journey is very inspiring!
  • I have done the yo-yo diet thing, and due to some medical issues I am unable to lose weight as fast as I would like. However, sticking with this as a way to see the good and bad that I am doing is helping me, and I've already dropped 4 inches off my frame. As the posters have stated, just stick with it.
  • Hi, I am Terri. I am not 100% new to running, as I ran both track and cross country in high school - 20 years ago. So I'm starting out with some basic knowledge of what to do/not do as far as runs go. However, I am not a 120 pound 18 year old anymore, so I'll need to get reacclimated to the running stress on my body.…
  • I'm starting this tonight! I'm really excited! I do have one question though - is it better to take the day rest in between, or to do some easy walking/stretching exercises? Also, where do I find the CK group on here? Thanks! Terri

  • Hi Erin! Some of my favorite workout artists would be Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, and Madonna. Yes, I am most definitely a child of the 80's! :)
