  • That's an amazing transformation! Congratulations on your accomplishments, and enjoy the new you!
  • Most days I'm within 100-200 calories over my target MFP goal, but generally am losing weight. (The last few days notwithstanding). I also do try to eat back my exercise calories, as I don't want to be in danger of going into starvation mode. That said, it did take me a while to adjust my calories to a reasonable level for…
  • I tend to have a list of items I have on a regular or semi-regular basis, and know the calories of those foods. I also like the scanning feature of the mobile app. For things I'm not entirely certain of, I do my best. I typically look for items that are similar to what I'm eating, and then take the one with the higher…
  • Not quite Suzy! I turn 40 on Friday! But I realize I do look older than I am in pics - one incentive to lose this weight!
  • I plan on doing both of these this weekend - well Friday and Saturday that is! Great tips!
  • Congratulations! That's an awesome accomplishment! :flowerforyou:
  • Number One - to be healthy. Everything else is just gravy...
  • I'm finding lately at least 3-4 times per week. But many times it's by 50-100 calories (such as today's plan), so I'm not sweating that at all.
  • ^^This^^ I've dieted in the past and failed. Now that I've made lifestyle adjustments - cut back on portions, added more veggies to my meals, changed my views on food - I've lost weight, inches, and the dreaded "D" word. And I've gained health, happiness, and new food loves! :flowerforyou:
  • Honestly, it depends on when my workout was. If it's first thing in the AM - breakfast (fruit with Greek yogurt, Oatmeal, Egg white breakfast sandwich). In the evening (post dinner) - a light snack (fruit, hard boiled egg, whole wheat crackers with topping).
  • Um...no. I do enjoy sodas too, but do not consider them as water. I log everything I drink separate from my water, whether it be diet soda, tea, coffee, or another drink. And as for alcohol being considered water - I disagree. Alcohol is a diuretic, just as coffee is. It has no health benefits to it (save for red wine),…
  • We do tell our daughter this - at home, and only if she is asking for some dessert and is claiming she's still hungry yet hasn't finished her meal, knowing that she likes the food on her plate. We don't supersize our plates at home, and I put a lot of healthy foods into our meal plan. I've shared meals with my daughter as…
  • First off, I know for a fact that gaining weight after smoking is real. It happened to my Dad - before the cancer took over that is. Now that that's out of the way - I don't think you're being superficial at all. If you're concerned about his weight, I can completely understand. It sounds like it's a two-fold thing for you…
  • I know - the items of clothing I was hoping would fit better on me (tight in some cases before) are now loose! Sadly, they're ones I don't have various sizes of! LOL!
  • ^^This^^ When my now husband and I were dating, we discussed kids at about the 3 month mark, and planned to have children of our own, figuring 2-3 years after we were married. Sadly, less than a year after we were married, I began having infertility issues (fibroids, endometriosis, blocked tubes, twisted ovaries, adhesions…
  • My goal is about overall health, which also includes weight loss. I'm measuring inches, weight, my clothes sizes, AND how I'm feeling. I go in to my primary care physician in October, and have a goal weight in mind (which he had told me last year that losing weight will help other concerns, including lowering my…
  • I'm 5'2.5" SW: 220 CW: 206.4 GW: 150 Yes, 150 is still above my chart range, but I'd be extremely happy at that point, to remain there. I've always been a little big (in HS I ranged from 115-120, whereas many friends were 90-100 - and looked sickly all of the time), plus I'm pushing 40 (8 more days! ), so I…
  • I've lost 14 pounds in a matter of 5 MONTHS. I started with losing a lot of inches, and have only recently in the last two months started to lose some more significant weight. My goal is set to eat 1400 calories per day, with exercising 4-5 days per week. I'm looking at this as a permanent change, not a quick fix at all.…
  • I'm 5'2.5", and right now I am at 206.4 pounds, and I am wearing a size M blouse with an XL skirt. And here's the ironic part - the blouse feels looser than the skirt! Most of the items in my closet that fit now though fall between L-XL ranges, and for numerical sizes, sizes range between 12-18. I make sure right now to…
  • Fresh veggies, apples, pears, Fiber One cereals/bars, whole grain breads. All great sources!
  • Yes, I try to eat back the bulk of my burned calories. Depending on what the activity is (I don't yet have an HRM), I may underestimate my burn (I've heard reading other forum posts that MFP may overestimate calories in activities). I do take the calories on any exercise equipment I use, as they seem to be lower than MFP…
  • Is it possible? Yes. Will you still be healthy afterwards? No. ETA - Unless you live on The Biggest Loser ranch and workout 8-10 hours (or more) each day and eat no more than 1000 calories.
  • ^^This, nearly to a tee.^^ The only difference with me is that I do appreciate the "good job" comments also. But it needs to be in line with an actual accomplishment, not give me a pat on the back for something I know wasn't good. That said, I also know that I am not perfect all of the time. (Yesterday was a bad day -…
  • While I don't disagree on the weights idea, my suggestion would be to do something relaxation based, such as Pilates or yoga. I don't workout every day, but try to hit my gym 2-3 days per week, as well as some other exercise/activity in on the remaining days. I'd say on average, I get true exercise in 4-5 days per week.…
  • Bump - I'll try these for my church's coffee hour! :)
  • I've heard that incline is more effective than flat ground at higher speeds, but I think it's really your preference. Either way you'll get a good workout!
  • Great dress! You look gorgeous in all of them!
  • I'll be there with you in 10 short days! Feel free to add me if you'd like! I started the year with a particular goal, but refined that goal when I had a health issue early in the year. But I'm very happy with where I'm at and where I'm continuing to head towards. No time like the present! :)
  • I hadn't decided yet, but after looking through these ideas, I'm thinking an omelet with spinach, bell peppers (I have orange, yellow, red, and green), onions/scallions, and some turkey bacon sounds like a plan! As it's just my daughter and I for dinner, she'll either have a PB&J or mac & cheese, or possibly an omelet then…
