"Edited by shoneysien on Wed 04/03/13 04:32 PM I have run thousands of miles alone [training for 30 marathons] and only felt afraid of a person [some men in a car who threatened me] but I have had some very frightening encounters with dogs [who frighten me far more than most people] and several amazing encounters with…

Here are some ideas: celery & peanut butter cheese and crackers hummus and pita veggies and dip I also brought a blender to work and stuff for smoothies - protein powder, fruit, veggies, green tea, cottage cheese or almond milk. I experiment and try different combos.

Congrats! Love to hear about success stories.

Well, yesterday was kind of a crummy day. Are you meeting Sunday or skipping since it's St. Pat's Day?
-
Congrats! My sister walked and did prenatal yoga. She said the yoga really helped her and made labor/delivery easier.

My trainer has me do 10 minutes of cardio as a warm up. Then I switch to resistance training and finish with at least another 20 minutes of cardio.

Just try for a better day/week going forward. Use the past info as a learning experience on what you can change going forward but don't fret on it. You can't change the past.

Chimichurri is awesome with rice. I also have it with black beans and/or steak. http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/chimichurri/

There are some bags in the rice section. However, it's cheaper to buy it in bulk. Does your grocery store have a healh mart or bulk food section?

The broiler can make things super easy - broil steak, pork chop or salmon with a few spices or a fat free salad dressing marinade. While that is cooking, steam some veggies or chop a salad. You could have some whipped potatoes, whole wheat pasta with a little olive oil and garlic or rice as another side item.

Here's what I've tried that past few weeks - veggies and hummus, chicken or tuna salad and brought in a blender and made my own protein shakes in the break room.

Anyone?

I'm a people pleaser and am very good at putting others before me. I hired a trainer and buddied up with a friend for a 12-week challenge. So, when I want to talk myself out of doing this I can't because I have made commitments to others. I don't want to disappoint them and in turn am helping myself. I also remind myself…

Thanks, I may join you. I plan to do the Merriam Turkey Creek Festival 5K again this year and am ready to get out of the gym and into the fresh air.

I'm feeling the same way but I am losing inches. My trainer told me to not focus in the scale for the next 2 weeks but to keep doing what I'm doing and choose a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to get into and use that as my guage instead of the scale.

I feel your pain. I've been working with a trainer twice a week for the past month. Aleve and epsom salt baths help. You may need to take a day with less intensity. Try stretching, walking, yoga, etc. but keep moving.

I'm a 38DD. I really like the Champion double dry bras. It looks like they've also come out with some new colors. I can typically get them for under $35. I buy them at the Outlet Mall in Las Vegas when I'm there or order off their webiste. Here's the link:…

Maybe add a morning and afternoon snack so you're never starving. Small meals throughout the day instead of trying to plan 3 meals may work best for you to keep you satisfied and your blood sugar levels consistent.

I just started all this 3 weeks ago. My trainer recommended I shoot for 85 g. I'm currently at 178 lbs and trying to lose weight and tone. I try daily for 38% protein, 30% carbs and 32% fat. Hope that helps.

I went to a running store and was fitted for a pair of shoes. I ended up with Brooks Ghost 5. I run in them and use the eliptical. No breaking in period necessary and they make a world of difference. They recommend trying on shoes in the evening after you've been on your feet all day.

Made the shamrock protein shake I posted above for lunch. It was a pretty good substitute. Happy to find a good alternative to the drive thru. I left out the guar and food coloring.
-
I bought Cytosport vanilla 100% whey at Costco. It dissolves really well and tastes good.
-
I agree with twelfty. This seems in line with what my trainer has said too.
-
I love shamrock shakes but none for me this year. I found this recipe today. I'm going to try it this week. http://dashingdish.com/recipe/shamrock-protein-shake/

Congrats. I just started The Challenge on 1/31 and am down 9. Good luck to you. Maybe others will join this posting so we can keep each other motivated.
-
I'm signed up for the challenge too. My start date was 1/31. Had my first trainer session last week. So far so good. Sore, but it's worth it. would love to share stories and tips along the journey with others.

I like dipping the fish in an egg/skim milk mixture and cover it with crushed cashews or almonds. Broil for a couple of minutes on each side.
