I’m just returning after a year plus absence, during which I found a medication that WORKED for my fibromyalgia! After 19 years of suffering so badly I couldn’t do much of anything. But during this same time period, the lumbar stenosis that had crept up over past 5 years became so severe that nerves to my lower legs were…

Same thing is happening to me, just started yesterday. I actually came to website to troubleshoot. Maybe a bug in an update?

If you can join a gym with a pool, then swimming laps or taking a water exercise class is best. If you have Medicare, sign up for the Silver Sneakers program. For $15 per month, there is over a dozen gyms in my area, I can go to any of them for that one fee, most of them have pools! Another good exercise is cycling on a…

Hi @msjloraine and all: I've had severe Fibro for 17 years, with recent back, hip and shoulder problems making it very difficult to walk/exercise. I need to lose some weight and wanted to make sure I was getting at least some exercise, so I got a Fitbit Flex last August and I totally love it. I have MFP linked with my…

Mine is wonky since yesterday too. Usually when it's not synching properly I log out of the app and then sign back in. Also I will restart my phone. Since others are having same issue, I would give it a day and see what happens (once you've done the restarts.) If it continues, you might want to RESET your Fitbit, you can…

I just received mine and its absolutely amazing! Great to find this group.

You didn't mention what you input for your weekly weight loss goals. Adjust that and see what you get for recommended daily calorie intake. Try putting in a goal of 1 lb or 0.5 lb weight loss per week and see what your recommended calorie intake is then. If you are short-statured and sedentary, you may have to adjust…

Since MFP allows you to track up to 6 values, you might want to add cholesterol (in addition to protein, fats, carbs, sodium and fiber), if heart disease runs in your family or you have a history of high blood cholesterol.

U.S. Whovian here, I even changed my profile pic to prove it! Also fan of all hard sci-fi (Continuum, anyone?). Any of you UK Whovians going to the 50th anniversary of Dr Who this fall, in London, I think. I'm also an artist, mostly pastel painting these days, but also paint digitally with Corel on Wacom tablet. Also knit…

Hi, I'm a newbie poster here, but...are you wearing a swim cap? I find that it makes an enormous difference in head buoyancy.

OP, I have pretty much the same schedule as you. I used to log all my food intake on the day that I wake up (so Friday noon to Saturday 4 am, or whenever I went to sleep, would be logged on Friday.) There is a problem logging this way, though, that no one else mentioned. Logging this way means that when you are finished…

I've tried completely eliminating candy in the past and it doesn't work for me. I find myself obsessing then "binging" on said candy then "starting diet tomorrow." What works for me is knowing that I can have a little candy treat at the very end of the day. This keeps me on track all day to eat well, fruits, veggies, whole…

Hi Wooley, Since you are ordering online, I wonder if you know about Cyberswim.com? Their suits are made with Miraclewear and are very flattering, they have special lines for D-cup and DD-cup AND in addition to Misses they have Womens Plus sizing that goes up to 24W. The special D-cup and DD-cup lines goes up to at least a…

Yes, agree with above: MFP sets fiber goal way too low. A good minimum fiber goal is 25 gm per day, but 30 or even 35 gm per day is fine. MFP has your fiber goal set at 20, which is too low. You can adjust it manually to 25, and don't worry if you eat over. If you are still having problems with constipation, you might try…

My physical therapist put two tennis balls together in a stretchy tube and I've been using that on my back. Only problem is that one of my cats loves it too and plays with it if I don't hide it!

THANK YOU for that link; I can't wait to order one! Which one do you use?

You can track up to 6 items (wish it was more). I track calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, fiber and cholesterol. Protein, fat and carbos are the 3 macronutrients and it's good to know what # and % you are eating; protein is very important to maintain and build muscle, and for controlling appetite. I personally track…

Be sure to shop at the best grocery store in your area for fresh fruits and veggies. There is huge variation in taste between stores. You will need to pay a little more for the best but taste and quality is everything with fruit and veggies. Try the little baby peeled carrots raw; if you don't like them plain, use peanut…

Awesome show,watch every week!

Interesting topic. My vit D level has been 14, took rx vit D 50,000 u twice per week for 3 months, but level hadn't budged a bit! So still taking same dose, hope next blood tests will be better. I'm very fair and avoid sun exposure as much as possible. My mother has had eight skin cancers removed from her face, luckily…

Not too concerned on social media but went a little crazy over repeated spelling mistakes on CNN's news feeds this past week! The best one was: "Gibbs to meet TOP-SEEDED Serena at Bank of West" :noway:

Hi, I have had fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis for almost 14 years. Been through most all of the meds but either not helpful or severe side-effects; a few made me gain a huge amount of weight. Many days I still feel like I've been hit by a bus when I wake up. It takes me at least 2 hours to be able to get up out of bed and…

Criteria is usually a BMI of 35 in order to qualify in the absence of other health conditions.

Have had IBS for 14 years, came with onset of fibromyalgia. If I control stress and eat a high-fiber diet, I don't have symptoms. But add some stress and then I'm lactose intolerant. I take fiber gummies for prevention along with at least 25 mg fiber per day in food. Have lactase tabs when needed, but sometimes the IBS…

Putting on some muscle mass might really help. You only just began the weight training this past week. You need a minimum of 6 weeks to see any results from it, really I would give it 3 or 4 months of consistent weight training. Track your % bodyfat and muscle/lean body mass on a good scale that measures these. If you've…

Lean Cuisine has a line called Market Collection, they are steam-cooked in bags. I really like the Chicken Alfredo and the Garlic Chicken, both have a good balance of white meat chicken, some pasta and a lot of chunky veggies (broccoli, carrots, asparagus) for about 300 calories, 5 gm fat, 4 to 5 gm fiber, 23 gm protein…

Hey Jelaine, I was on Celexa for awhile but it didn't help much with my fibromyalgia. I didn't notice a huge weight gain or loss from med. I did some research for you and found a good article on Celexa for you. Celexa is an SSRI and not quite as effective for fibromyalgia as the SNRI class of meds. In some people it may…

You can buy a scale online and have it shipped to you. It measures weight AND bodyfat %. They are not too expensive, you can get one that also measures %water, muscle (lean body weight) in pounds/kg and bone mass. I bought mine a few years ago, the Tanita "Ironman" Inner Scan Body Composition Monitor. The bodyfat% IS…
