When you wake up from a nightmare in which you're in a panic because you MUST log in your calories but you can't recall what you've eaten for the past week.

In the French diet (see http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/the-french-diet?page=3 ), there's something called the 'ender'. I've found this approach very helpful as a way of telling my stomach, "OK, we're done eating now." My favorite 'ender' is a small cube of really good cheese (like brie), but a square of dark chocolate…

You need to get your fitness habit going. Once you do this, it will be much more automatic to just go exercise, and you'll start to tune out the annoying part of your brain that keeps thinking up excuses to not work out today. Things to try: - Switch to a workout that's less monotonous. 30 minutes on a treadmill or…

According to MFP calculations, this recipe add up to 2111 calories (not including any milk or other stuff that you serve it with). I'm guessing that you'd want to divide it into reasonable-sized portions/servings. Sounds tasty though.

I'm 59 and just finished Stage 1 workout 7. It's fun to see how much I can lift. I was worried that my knees would get worse from lifting but they seem to have improved. Goal is to be able to squat my body weight - 50 pounds to go.

I've found that my scale produces a slightly different result depending on where I place it on the floor. I'm guessing that this may be because all areas of the floor in our house appear to be level but they aren't. Has anyone else experienced this? To compensate for this, I chose a spot for the scale and never move it -…

My husband and I got married when we both were 26 years old, and we've been together for 34 years so far (I'm writing this from our vacation in Paris). Before that, though, I had a Starter Husband who I married when I was 19. Before we got married, we got along fine. After, he got very controlling - didn't want me to work,…

Definitely go for the hysterectomy, especially if your surgeon will use one of those DaVinci surgical robots - the scars are very small and the recovery period is much shorter than with the old style of hysterectomy,

Does the building you work in have stairs? When I get really stressed I head for the stairwell and just go up and down the stairs for 5 minutes or so, until I feel more relaxed. Then I drink a big glass of ice water and go back to my desk.

When I joined MFP back in April, I wasn't sure if I would stick with it, so I didn't buy much - just some new sneakers and a couple of workout outfits from our local thrift store. After I proved to myself that I would work out at least 4 days a week, I started buying myself some rewards: (I already had a crockpot and a…

Hi! A friend pointed me to MFP back in April, and I have found it really helpful. If you log in daily, you'll see before & after photos that are so inspiring - many from folks whose starting weight was a lot higher than yours. And you can learn a lot about which weight loss and fitness improvement approaches REALLY work…
