18lb is a great achievement - just put your head down and try not to take too much notice of the comments. Keep working away!

Come on England!

Its fairly normal to lose a sizeable chunk in your first week, most of it will be excess water etc. I lost 8lb in the first week when I started but it soon settled into a more normal regime.

Nice job! I've lost 3 stone now and I'm really starting to see the difference starting about 375lb. Keep up the good work! :)

You look great - a fantastic loss.

I started at 6'0" and 372 pounds - I started cycling, walking and some light lifting. 3 months later and I've lost 42 pounds and still losing. I'd check with your doctor before you start and take things slowly by doing as much light exercise as you can manage - and don't forget to take care of your calorie intake too.

Sweet Yorkshire Pudding? Thats sacriledge for sure is that! Parkin on the other hand - I could eat that all day....

Finding out I was gonna be a dad, I don't wanna be a fat uncool dad!

I have noticed that the staff in my gym all use balls instead of chairs, not sure any benefits this does or doesn't bring.

Always drank 2% fat milk and always will. Full of great nutirents that the body needs.

I'm about 40% dependant on the calculation as a 6ft man weighing about 340lb. Currently eaten around or slightly below my BMR.

Hi, I'm from Leeds and trying to slim down from about 26½ stone, just over two stone down at the moment!

My god. I would love some of them right now....

Pastry and fries! Not necessarily together.

Agreed.

Stop dating Mancs. In all seriousness you have to go through the weeds and pondlife before you get a decent catch sometimes.

I don't think MFP deals with obese numbers very well at all to be honest. At 350lb my BMR according to https://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmr-calculator is 2700 but will quite happily give me a daily goal of 2400 even to lose a moderate 2lb a week!
-
Although people say don't eat BMR I have been doing daily for the last three months without issues, because I quite simply cannot eat 3000-4000 calories a day. I know others who've done the same...

I personally don't think it does, the exception being the Katch-McArdle method which might not be any more accurate but at least considers body fat. As a bloke of 350lb my TDEE with these calculators come in at 4000+ and my BMR at over 3000!

I think there is a few of us, I'm from Leeds if you want to add! :)

How much are they? ;)

At uni alcohol was always my downfall! Try to watch how much you drink and avoid sugary alcopops!

Calories Burned / Week 2,690 calories/week - this measure is your estimated calories burn based on what exercise you've said you do. Daily Calorie Deficit 610 calories - This is the amount you are eating less than your TDEE (the amount of calories your body needs to function and do your exercise) to help reduce your…

It'll be the water but still a good start, keep it up!

Lucky husband :)

Donny must be a bit of a let down after Taiwan ;)

Exactly. I've probably eaten it before and never had cause for complaint but the real bugbear is having no control and being lied to as whats in the food.
-
As someone who started out at 375lb this topic has been really helpful. Thanks all.

I'm getting this too. Its annoying but worth it!
