  • Man, I wish I had found this sooner... Thanks so much, this will be immensely helpful!
  • Oooh, sciency... grassy *kitten*!
  • You can't lose 6lbs of fat in 10 days, but you might give the appearance of having done such by cutting out carbs (besides produce) and sodium until then, to diminish/prevent bloating.
  • Wawa mac n cheese with a buttered roll = boozin food bliss
  • Much obliged for the responses... I think that sounds like a good logical approach, @sijomial ... I'm gonna run the numbers...
  • I've brought this up in another thread before, but discussion didn't go far -- was wondering about switching to maintenance/recomp, even though I have ~7lbs to goal, but using the TDEE of my goal weight for maintenance cals. The idea being that it'd still be a deficit between current weight's TDEE and Goal's, so I'd still…
  • I eat about two cups of plain raw vegetables with my grilled chicken (sometimes sandwich) almost everyday at work. (Sometimes adding red wine vinegar). Most of the veggies, I really have come to enjoy. Not raw broccoli though... I'll eat a whole cup to a cup and half each meal, but I almost have to force myself to eat it.…
  • In! Waiting for my hard copy, been reading on Kindle... My booty needs this...
  • You're shriiiinnnkkkkiiiinnnnngggg! :) Congratulations on your results! I bet it must feel awesome knowing it's all because you put in the work, you made it a priority for you, and now you get to look at the before and after and be like "I did that!" Very inspiring!! I don't have much weight to lose, but I still feel like…
  • knowledge is power.
  • See, I might get the salad vs. the burger because I like to cut restaurant burgers in half, taking one part for leftovers. On a date, depending on what we were doing after, I might not like to have the takeout box to worry about... But I wouldn't be bothered to take leftover salad with me... I'd just eat the best bits and…
  • This will come in handy after the apocalypse, when batteries become sparse, but we still want to keep slim and trim.
  • Also, it's be proven (by someone, somewhere, where I read it once) that standing like Wonder Woman (feet set at shoulder width, hands on hips, chest out) for more than just a moment increases feelings of confidence. It's a "power pose" and gets your brain on board with the feelings that the posture suggests. Do it up! Have…
  • RE posture: place hands at your sides. Make fists. stick out your thumbs. now rotate your arms so your thumbs are pointing to the sides.. this opens your ribcage and broadens shoulders (slightly), giving you a better posture. It's just a little trick to "get there"... don't go walking around with your thumbs like Fonzie…
  • Sort of off topic, but sort of on topic - I always wanted to portion out a day's meals according to the food guide pyramid serving suggestions to see what the caloric total would be for my choices...
  • But how would you log food measured in this way? Or is the point to measure this way and you wouldn't have to log? I have to weigh because, as my father always told me, my eyes are bigger than my belly.
  • I stopped drinking coffee at work, because I was not moderating the half n half or cream and aside from all those added calories, the added dairy seemed to congest me. I now have one large (32oz) iced coffee with Splenda and extra milk from Dunkin (whole) or McDonalds (2%) on my way to work, then I drink black or green tea…

  • http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/a-beginners-guide-to-protein/ From the MFP blog yesterday.
  • I would venture a guess that "being able to eat as many fruits and veggies as you want" is what's keeping you from getting any lower. Try and get on board with weighing and logging everything... it's an eye opener... and those fruits and veggies have calories, whether you use WW of MFP.. MFP just let's you see the number…
  • You don't need to hit a protein goal to lose weight - you just need to maintain a calorie deficit. That said, eating a good amount of protein helps to minimize the loss of muscle you're bound to experience along with the fat. It's a good idea to try and get your protein in.
  • I always start with "Africa" by Toto... no seriously.. Always.
  • It's just assumed I have an @$$... cause the pants are too baggy to tell...
  • In my ideal weight loss world, each of my three meals would be 500 calories on the nose. In my real world, I rarely have three meals in a day... More like two daylight hour meals and snacks as needed. And happy hour.
  • You're my new favorite member here! So adorable... expect a friend request.
  • I did one meal a day for a stretch, though not really intentionally... it was just not a very hungry time in my life (a lot of exciting stuff going on!) Once I realized I was losing weight and looked at how I was eating, I was impressed and looked it up... I really ate one big lunch (likely ~1000 calories really) of…
  • Cheese 'flavored' Puff'n Corn (That orange powder coated, hulless popcorn?) Yeah... I can't eat it without eating the entire bag. Seriously, every time. Ate a ~700-750 calorie bag over the weekend.. I have to not have it at all... (I couldn't bring myself to log it, if you're looking.) To be honest, I wish I never tried…
  • Oh these rebellious bodies... they laugh while we make our plans....
  • Actually now that I think about it, the BMI range is probably a good paralell for the idea of a "set weight". A range, rather than a specific number makes more sense... but there it is, pretty much. (Of course, BMI range is wide... I think mine is something like 125-170 or somesuch... so not really saying much).
  • I tend to agree that no, there is no "set weight"; however, I would have no problem accepting that when the factors of emotional eating, issues with moderating high calorie foods, EDs, metabolic health influences, mobility issues, etc. are removed, a person would then have a "normal", even "healthy" weight he/she would…
  • Although, I would note that I can specifically recall that my baseline "hunger level" has changed throughout my life, depending on what was going on (more exciting time, maybe new apartment, new boyfriend, woops! forget to eat a while... winter time, settled into a relationship, hungry all the time...) All the while,…
