P.S. Regarding using WW and then stopping WW and gaining the weight back; if you quit using MFP you will most likely gain back weight as well. It's a life long commitment and lifestyle change. No matter what we use, we will always need to be accountable for what we eat and how much we exercise.

I believe either program works if you use it correctly. Ref free/zero point fruits and veggies, WW does tell you not to exceed four or five(can't remember) "free" servings a day and a serving is 1/2 cup. If you're just starting out it can be a good foundation and can help you learn to make healthy food choices. Healthier…

Wish I could give you some pointers but I am literally in the same boat. In fact, I just posted tonight about how disappointed I am at fast and how far I have gotten off track. Looks like there is some great advice in the feedback you've received. If any of you are willing to take on another friend, please friend me. So…

I had no idea starting this thread would generate so much great feedback. I said thanks of page one and then came back to check it out again and saw four pages of comments. Thanks so much for all of the great comments and advice! Hope everyone has a great evening.

Glenn - the current WW program really wasn't working for me. Your fruit is zero points and most veggies are zero points (startchy veggies cost you). Your given a week points value and then you get 49 weekly points to use as necessary. You track your activity and can choose to eat your activity points or not. There database…

Feel free to add me. We all experience those points of frustration.

I agree calorie count looks good but types of food need to shift away from processed type foods and more towards fruits and veggies. Switch from white rice to brown rice. Even though you are within your calorie range if you eat unhealthy foods your body metabolizes them differently. So you can eat the same amount of…

I agree with Dlauron, I started on the MobileApp first and then got more familiar with the website, message boards, tracking weight and etc. I am a newbie too so still learning.

Thanks for the great feedback!! I cancelled WW and started using MFP solely this week. I love this site and the people are fantastic!

Thanks so much for all of the great advice and feedback!! tlbood: good idea about still tracking the Good Health Guidelines. I definitely like the support on this site better and also like the fact that you are learning about the foods' nutritional values and not just points. Thanks again for the responses. Lora

I do the same thing as far as individual ingredients and guesstimate. Any accountablility is better than nothing. I also have friends that take a picture of their meal to help them remember the ingredients and amount.

I also am trying to lose weight and become healthier. My goal is to get off of at least one of my two blood pressure medications. I also did WW and am cancelling the subscription this week. I lost 15 pounds on their old points program and have gained it back. The new Points Plus really hasn't done much for me and much like…

Your post made me feel so much better. :-) I am 5' 2" tall (46 yrs old) and have 25 pounds to lose. My biggest challenges are motivation and Pepsi. My husband is 60 years old has never had a weight problem, works out at least 4 days a week and still has a six pack!!!!! No one every believes it when he says he is 60. And…

I am 5' 2" and 149 lbs as well. My highest weight was 170 as well back in about 2002. Trying to get to 125 lbs. Feel free to add me. :-)

We currently have two horses but haven't ridden for quite a while. I do not have an injury to your degree but have issues with a couple of discs in my neck (degenerative disc disease) and bone spurs. Doctors seem to think it's the result of a car accident I had back in the 90s. We ride western. Our mare (Black) is…

I have been doing WW new system Points Plus and I also did the old system. I lost 15 lbs on the old system and gained it all back. I've discovered I am more of an emotional eater than I thought. I have a friend that encourage me to try this and I have another friend that is seeing a nutritionist. The nutritionist isn't…

I am new as well. Signed up in May but never really did anything with it. That changes this week. My biggest challenges are Pepsi and exercise. Pepsi is definitely a weakness and I have a really hard time getting motivated to exercise. I am uncomfortable in a gym environment and have work out equipment and videos at…

I created an account in May and used it sporatically but just decided to cancel my WW subscription and go with MFP. I read a lot a comments about MFP vs WW and MFP had some really impressive feedback. I like the idea you learn about your food and the breakdown of fats, protein, carbs, cal, and etc versus just points…
