Ok. I need to lose weight and live healthier. I have known this for some time and done nothning about it. I tured 40 a month ago, and I have decided that I need to do something about it NOW.

I know my eating is terrible and I don't exercise much at all.....

So I am starting to watch what I eat and exercise. I even dusted off the wii fit. I did 14 minutes, but the kids wouldn;t leave me alone, so I am hoping to get in at least another 16 minutes tonight to make it 30 minutes total.

I can use all the help I can get!!

the best of luck.....I have just joined this group and loving it! I recently did Weight Watchers and found it didn't work for me anymore, also I was tired of counting points...... I find this so much easier. Counting calories and very surprised to find that I can actually eat more calories than what I would have thought! Not used to count cals for veggies though!

I also am trying to lose weight and become healthier. My goal is to get off of at least one of my two blood pressure medications. I also did WW and am cancelling the subscription this week. I lost 15 pounds on their old points program and have gained it back. The new Points Plus really hasn't done much for me and much like Limeynana said I got tired of counting points. I think MFP also teaches us more about the foods we were are eating . I was surprised at how little protein I consume. Best of luck to you. The Wii Fit is an awesome start and your 15 minutes is more than what I did!! :-)

Welcome! Thanks for the reminder to get that wii fit out again! Keeping the diary daily has helped me a lot, but gotta say it's the support of the community here that keeps me going....sending FR

Welcome welcome! Just getting here and getting started is a huge step. I am only a week or 2 in being serious. I have to say - while there are moments that are hard, I am already feeling so much better and in control of my life.

I turn 40 in one year and am hoping to be in my best shape ever by then.

I totally get the kids interupting! I have a hard time getting a work out in because I have 4 and they always want to know what I am doing!

Start with writing everything you eat down here in your diary. That was a huge thing for me - just becoming more aware of what I was eating - looking at the macros, etc.

OK,i'm also new here and i think i'm loving it.When i created my profile,it gave me about 1700 calories/day.I realized that everytime i exercise, and i logg it in my diary,it automatically change my whole/total calories for the day-makes it more and i end up consuming more than 1700.I'm confused, what's going on?
Is this what it suppose to do?
I mean sometimes i wouldn't know until the end of the day...because i'm always looking to see if i did or did not use all my calories for the day.
    Someone,pls enlighten me on this.
    Thanks

    Welcome!

Everyone has to start somewhere. Taking that first step to hanging your lifestyle and eating habits is one of the hardest and staying on track can be quite a daunting chore. But take heart, having a large support circle of friends is a great motivator and that's what this site is all about!

I look forward to sharing in your successes!
