  • I'd have eaten it too. The cooking would have killed the bugs and it wouldn't have had enough time to have been colonised and grow more within that time, especially within the oven/. what a waste
  • For those in the UK, Sweaty Betty rocks
  • It's in the Daily Mail. Their whole MO is nugget of truth in whole wrapping of BS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eBT6OSr1TI
  • Its horrible for your teeth though.
  • You can do it. It seems like a lot but it realyl isn't. Your body is ready for it. Your mind, maybe not. Take it Slooooooow. Even slower than normal. It's ok
  • Apologies, I've just noticed your age. I'd assumed your family were your own spouse children, but I guess that might not be the case. Find a non-physical hobby?
  • Week 1 Day 1. From there on, everything was an improvement. There are good runs and bad runs and all of them are better than my first run.
  • How about you don't sit around & do nothing and err spend some time with your family instead? IF you exercise 3 hours a day and have a normal 8 hour job, I suspect they barely know you. Go to the park, chase the bikes, fly a kite, do a jigsaw, read a book, write a story, make a robot.
  • Yeah, I'm a cheese snob though. It's an affliction. I can't moderate. I must avoid
  • Because it's full of fat and salt and dissolves all my self control when facing it down?
  • Honestly, you can do it. Each jump up has been scary, but you did it. This is the same. Do it. Pace yourself. You'll feel awesome.

  • I don't log herbs & spices, or high water veg like lettuce & cucumber
  • You need this book. Amazing food http://www.amazon.com/Plenty-Yotam-Ottolenghi/dp/0091933684
  • Oh and try mysupermarket.co.uk for a price comparison. You can load your trolley and it'll tell you where it'll be cheaper to shop, including special offers. Another thought - try to keep to seasonal eating to keep the costs down.
  • I'm not sure it's healthy living that's driving your costs up, more a taste for the more expensive cuts and meats, plus eating lots of protein which is naturally more expensive to produce, and therefore buy, than other staples. Swap breasts for thighs & leg joints, or better yet, buy a whole chicken and cook it,and freeze…
  • Chocolate milk on cereal??? Surely that's a joke? Or is it? I can't tell on here. We have granola, porridge (with milk / yoghurt / fruit) or branflakes with dried fruit. Or toast with peanut butter
  • Ahh right thanks. I don't have a dog and I couldn't bear to throw away such nutritious food. And you're right, the cartons are really expensive, so I guess I'll just treat eggs like steak, eat fewer and make it count when I eat them
  • Nice work. I started it in March and trust me, the early weeks are the toughest. Respect to you for getting through it! I ran 8km the other day. For fun. It's craziness. :D

  • Thanks Cambrendle, I don't really eat packaged meats. We tend to buy fresh / frozen and freeze what we don't have in that mean. Also tend to buy higher welfare meats so perhaps they are less bulked out? Perhaps I am naive and MFP just doesn't have the data. My sodium was at the default level of 2,500 but even still my…
  • Really? I'm surprised at this. Out of curiousity, I change the settings and went back over my diary. The only time I've come even close is when I've been out for dinner and gone nuts on the antipasti. Oh and bacon sandwich days, lol Where else is all your sodium coming from? Is it mainly ready meals / packaged foods?
  • Absolutely. Now you really are "eating for two". You are sustaining another person from your own intake & body fat. I was SO hungry when bfing my first that I craved cakes. not individual cupcakes, a whole Sainsbury's bakery cake. Several a week. I lost 2 stone (she fed A LOT, especially after a year) Add it in and monitor…
  • Sadly cooking from scratch is what got me into this position in the first place. Home baked cake & flapjacks, yum! Like a lot of people, I think portion control is my downfall. I worked out that the size of a slice of cake I'd have passing through the kitchen had a meal's worth of calories. By god it was good though. We're…
  • My butter substitute is ... less butter. Or no butter. Such a shame. I love butter. (I wonder why I'm here)
  • I doubt it's as low as 50 calories unless it's been heavily processed in some way. I think average sliced plastic bread is about 70 calories. Depending on how thick you slice it, it could be 1-200.
  • WTS. I find it hard to judge the number of servings though.
  • Ottolenghi's Plenty changed the way I looked at veg. They were always side dishes before. Now I put the same effort into them as I would a main meat dish and it's just so damn nice. Properly satisfying and delicious http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plenty-Yotam-Ottolenghi/dp/0091933684
  • I batch cook at the weekends. Nothing more stressful that trying to cook when you're Hank Marvin. Radio on, cup of tea and a few hours pootling about in the kitchen means I have most of the week's food sorted. Lots of veg curries, slow roasted meats & casseroles, ragus, breads so all I need to do in the week is take it out…
  • It always astounds me that powdered baby milk can be marketed as immune boosting. It's not (just) the average content of breast milk that makes it immune boosting. it's the mother, and the baby dyad. A baby coming down with a bug cuddles close to the mother, and feeds frequently. The bug is passed to the mother whose body…
  • In the UK so I'm not really sure what Gerber is, but both of mine have been fed normal family food. I treat snack as mini-meals. Things we've had is - Pitta bread / sourdough with houmous (home made is SO easy - tin of chick peas, garlic, lemon juice, tablespoon of olive oil = blend. You may need some more water to loosen…
  • I'm an FF and this one is awesome http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sports-bras/panache-sports-bra/storm/pr100stm/?criteria=panache&show=16&sort=1&range=sports-bras&level=3 Holds everything comfortably and no monoboob either Just got a shock absorber today and yet to try it. feels more flimsy though (and NO idea…
