Oh poor thing. I hope he didn't glue his mouth shut.

It it a little harder and it takes time. Just keep exercising and counting those calories and it will come off. Menopause is not a death sentence of extra weight. I lost about half of my weight before menopause and have lost the other half after so it can be done.

I eat small portions of everything I like and then if I go over, I go over and log it. The next day, I get back on the wagon and make sure I don't go over and even go a little less over the following week. Yes, my loss is slower because of it but this is a life time change, not a diet and that is what I plan to continue…

Are you taking Omega 3 in fish oil form? I take between 800 and 1000 EPA in fish oils and I noticed that I bruise like crazy. My naturopath told me to increase my vitamin C to counter act that. As soon as I let up on the Vitamin C, the bruising is unreal. Just something to think about.

I am a year older and it has taken me 4 and half years to lose 57 pounds so it can be done. I did it through portion control at first and walking. When I got closer to my goal, I found that portion control needed to change to counting my calories. I also go to a Pilates class twice a week. So the long and short of it is to…

I am one of the few that loves pantyhose. I make sure to buy them with plenty of room and if that means I need a size bigger, then I buy that. I have no issues with them sagging or being so tight that they end up sliding down (which would drive me nuts). I thing that buying them big enough is the trick.

How about mini quiches? You can put whatever you want in them, they are easy to carry and they can be served warm or cold. Little mini quiche Lorraine are usually liked by everyone. You can also make them healthier by using low fat milk instead of cream and putting more veggies in them. If you buy the mini pastry shells,…

I am aiming for 130 which is 3 pounds away, however, I still feel I have a lot of fat on my abdomen so I might try to go down to 125. The only trick is that I have never been that during my adult life. I was 127 when I got married at 20 and I am now 55 so… it might be a pipe dream and staying at 130 may prove to be a…

The clenching theory is nonsense because in some surgeries, they give you muscle paralytics so that your muscles are not clenched when they cut into you. Anyhow, I would think one would worry more about the outcome of the surgery than how many calories are burned. *Shaking my head here*

Good for you! You did really well. Last year, I gained 12 lbs on a 12 day cruise. This year I did a one week cruise and visited with a friend for another two weeks and gained 5 lbs over the three weeks. I was pretty happy that was all that I gained. I have lost 4 of the 5 in a month so I am getting there. Only 3 lbs to my…

We make them two ways… 1. Mayo and sweet relish, a little dijon, salt and pepper all mixed with the egg yolks. 2. Ham, canned mushrooms, mayo, dijon, yolks and salt and pepper done in a food processor. Both are super yummy.

It can be done! I started 4 and half years ago when I was perimenopausal and I am now post. In the middle of that, I also had a partial hysterectomy. I have 3 more pounds to get to my third goal. I started with 144, then 135 and now 130. I haven't been this slim since my twenties and I count my calories every day since I…

You and me both! I am having a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate as we speak and yes, I logged it. And I am still way under my calories for the day!

I third the SmartWool socks!

I am part of the 5'5" club too. I started at 190 and my first goal was 144. I then dropped it to 135 and now 130. I will see once I get to 130 if I want to go lower or not. I might since I am at 133.8 now and still have a fair bit of fat on my abs. We will see.

It isn't too late to crate them and it sounds like they need to be kept busy. Try puzzle toys like Kongs to keep them occupied. They are barking because they are bored.

Here is what worked for me in a nutshell: 1. Walk every day. I walk 8.5 km each day with a buddy. 2. Cut back your portions or count your calories with MFP. I started with the first and ended up with the second. Both dropped weight but MFP got me out of the plateau I was on. 3. Drink only water, plain tea or coffee. If you…

I drink water or unsweetened green tea because juice, milk, soft drinks and so on can really add up the calories quickly. I rather use the 200 calories for food rather than drink because that will satisfy me a lot more than a drink. Not to say that I don't have the occasional glass of wine or flavoured coffee once or twice…

^^^^ This what I do basically. I do toss them in a bit of olive oil, add some herbs as well as salt and pepper.

In a nutshell, I walked and cut my portions down. And it took a lot of patience. I started walking in May of 2009 so it has been over 4 years. Originally I started with a 5km walk and built up to over 10km daily during the week and 12.5km each weekend day. However, my walking partner has a torn meniscus so we are down to…

I just put on my rain gear. A breathable waterproof nylon shell jacket with hood and pants keep me nice and dry. Northface is the brand I have but there are tons out there. Under that, I just wear layers according to the weather. For shoes, I just continue to wear my running shoes with wool socks such as Smartwool™. I do…

^^This is basically what I do. I just get too hungry with tiny meals and eating often has never been my normal pattern so my body can't get used to that idea. I totally agree that changing your habit drastically isn't going to stick in the long run.

You might have ended up with a bad batch of the mix. I had two packages that tasted like sour milk and ended up throwing them out. When I asked, I was told that it had only happened to a few packages in Canada. No idea if that was true. The powder usually tastes like powered cake mix. If yours didn't and tasted like sour…

Actually no! They are few and far between. That is one of the first things that my relatives notice when they come to Canada (How heavy people here are for the most part).

I was raised in Canada although my parents are from France. Snacking just didn't happen since it isn't part of the culture. I would never have dreamed of going into the fridge and helping myself to something to eat between meal. I still don't go into my mother's fridge. Meals were like this: Breakfast: Hot chocolate and…

I was comparing your BMR to my mine without actually calculating yours and I was wrong. I punched in some of the numbers you posted into the spread sheet and your BMR is around 1500. The spreadsheet I posted is really useful for things like BMR and TDEE. You can also input your measurements and get a pretty good idea of…

I am the same height as you but your BMR seems kind of high to me. Try using HeyBales spreadsheet to figure out how much you should be eating. It has been working for me. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Amt7QBR9-c6MdGVTbGswLUUzUHNVVUlNSW9wZWloeUE#gid=14
