I am in the same boat and have started following ^^ this advice to eat at my TDEE - 20% for a while. Not noticing any change yet but am trying to be patient as it has only been 2 weeks. Will let you know if it starts helping!! I've been stuck for AGES at the same 20-25 pounds overweight since hitting menopause. :(

Sooo . . . I am having such a hard time with this!! I cannot seem to get enough protein in during the day before i've already gone way over on carbs and fiber. Also feeling so stuffed and bloated since I am clearly NOT used to eating 1900 calories a day. Scale has gone up from 162 to 165.5 in just over a week, clothes…

Can't run to save my life, but I walk a 14 minute mile. Figure it's better to walk 2 miles daily at that pace than try to run with my bad feet and hurt things, leaving me out of commission for weeks.

I found this the single most discouraging thing about MFP. It always said I should have dropped a lot of weight and it never happened, even though my food intake and exercising is remarkably similar day after day after month after month.
-
^^^ Yes, I agree with this completely. Since it is far from fun for me, the thought of spending an entire morning/afternoon/evening schlepping through racks has ZERO appeal. I miss the days when there was a selection of work-appropriate clothing available without needing to scour the city and cross my fingers. At the end…

I drink diet soda because I cannot stomach the taste of regular soda. Same with skim milk. Full-fat milk is slimy and gross tasting to me. Other than that . . . well, I have no problem with low fat cheese. I get plenty of the "real" stuff every time we go out for pizza. To each her own. I go with what tastes good and fits…

I haven't found anything I liked enough to buy and have tailored, but if/when I do, I will definitely consider that.

For which I said thank you. Be grateful that everything comes so easily to you, Ms. Lotus. I'm sure it's a magnificent view from up there on that high horse. Have a great day!!

Believe me, I am only looking in the sale racks. I would love for one of you to spend one day with me trying to find stuff that fits that I can afford . . .the "walk a mile in my shoes" kind of situation, but seeing how that is not going to happen, I will continue trying to make do. I appreciate the suggestions.

WOW - well, I feel completely poor now. Just checked out Piperlime and Revolve (two stores I'd never heard of) and see that everything is WAY over $50. Guess that's the difference between small town Midwest and wherever you folks live. One outfit there would be half my take home pay. And I think now I see the difference…

Just looked online at Banana Republic and NOW I remember why I never tried shopping there - it is WAY too expensive for my salary!!! $150 jackets, $130 dresses . . . umm, no. Darn it - a few of things looked kind of cute, but can't afford it when I'm hoping not to be stuck at this weight forever. But I stand corrected on…

I will give those a try. I usually can find something at Kohl's, but ours quit carrying dresses several years ago, and the skirt styles now are hideous. Pants shopping makes me cry since I am not proportioned right for the way they are made. If they are big enough to go around my thighs, the waist gaps out half a mile. Or…

I don't have to wear a suit, I just can't wear floor length tie-dye sleeveless beach coverups, which seemed to be the majority of what I saw at Kohl's and Penney's. LOL I was NOT trying to diss Banana Republic - it's just that walking by the one I saw in a different mall over the weekend, all they were showing were khaki…

I've never heard of Asos - do they have professional clothes? The clothes I see in banana republic are not law firm appropriate. I'll keep searching, though!!

I actually had fairly good luck with the gel pad Velcro wraps that go around your arch. I wear them all the time now when I am at home in socks or barefoot, and also with a few pairs of flats where I can get away with it and not have them too visible. :) I had a horrible few months dealing with PF and am much more careful…

I have had such miserable luck trying to shop online. I think it's because I don't have hours on end to click through page after page on our crappy internet connection, where it takes 5 minutes to bring up a page on Amazon or wherever. And I agree with the shoes!!! Went to seven stores over the weekend to look for dress…

Apparently the part about living in a town with very few stores got missed. And I'm happy you love to shop, really I am. I have always hated it. To clarify, after being the same size from high school until age 40, I have gained about 20 pounds from menopause and being put on migraine medicines for hormonal issues. I did…

I am 45 and I am NOT shopping in the juniors section. AGAIN, I was being sarcastic and pointing out that the vast majority of the clothes stores in my town are catering to pre-teen girls. I did NOT say that I was actually trying to buy clothes in said stores. I work full time, I live out in the middle of nowhere, so…

I have, but since my clothes are generally all around 20 years old, the fabric is just wearing out.
-
That is a great suggestion, and one that I have tried. My current problem is that my clothes are sooo old they are literally threadbare in places. I'm down to 2 skirts with elastic waists (both around 20 years old) and a couple of pairs of pants that fit, plus a few shapeless dresses. I'm 45 years old, so please don't…

I was NOT in the junior department. Even when I was a junior I didn't shop in the junior department. No, it was in the misses' department of JC Penney's and Kohl's. I am happy for you that you like to shop. I find it the single most depressing thing in the world.
-
Please enlighten me as to how to do it "right" then. Spending hours and hours and hours online looking for something decent, only to find that it's not available in my size? Yes, that has worked SO well for me in the past. Driving three hours to an expensive store? We have one income at the moment.
-
I was at J.C. Penney's and Kohl's. The pink legging reference was to all of the stores in the mall that cater to teens. I didn't say I was actually shopping in those stores. The other department/clothes stores mentioned are nowhere around here.
-
I have, but nearly went broke with the return postage. (I have to try everything on - no two sizes from different brands fit the same way, so I have very poor luck with that.)
-
My mother of all people got these for me to try. Haven't noticed any difference at all, but at least they seem harmless compared to most of the scary diet stuff out there. Will not be ordering any for myself!
-
^^^ Can I get an "amen" here! :)

People don't tend to notice things like weight loss or haircuts unless it is extreme. My funniest story about the situation is when a friend saw my 18-year-old engagement picture (when I weighed 127 pounds), then looked at my 168 pound self and said, "Gee, you've lost so much weight since then!!!" LOL and she was NOT being…

I gave up all soda (though I only drink diet) on two different occasions for over a month each, and noticed absolutely zero difference in my health/weight/sleep, so I am back to having one diet soda over ice, sipped through a straw, each day at work. I despise coffee so it's my only real caffeine "fix" so to speak. I think…

Starting weight: 170 Current weight: 163 Goal: 145 Doctor wants me back at 140 . . . don't see that happening. I'll be happy if I can get in the 150s again. :(

Roger Taylor from Duran Duran should be on this list. Agree with most of the others, though.
