  • I am 5'1" and when I go 4 mph, I look like I'm flying, lol! But my 6'1" husband looks like he's walking a normal stride. If you have a smartphone, check out Endomondo or MapMyRun. They are free apps so you can try it before you get the pro-versions. (Or just keep using the free one!) 5 mph would be a jog for me.
  • Mexican, but I've suffered a lot more being fat, so it's an easy trade in.
  • ^ Yum! Mine: Spinach Strawberries Avocado Turkey (Boar's head low sodium) Paul Newman's Lite Honey Mustard (70 cal, 4g fat, 7g carbs)
  • What a great comparison! Congrats on all your hard work!
  • How many calories are you eating? What do you think you should be eating? What's a typical day look light? There's always room for fruits and veggies. Make some hard boiled eggs. eggs
  • I was "VERY out of shape". I started walking. I'm still not in super shape, but I've doubled my walking time. (Yay!) I'm planning on doing the Insanity, but I'm sure I will have to modify to keep from hurting myself! If it's too much for me, I'll have to stick to other forms of cardio/strength for awhile. I don't want to…
  • There's no shame in telling MFP people what you weight. I know it's hard to put yourself out there. We are all here for a common goal, our health! You'll find people who have more to lose and less to lose, people with a variety of struggles and successes. For me, the easy part is the "honeymoon phase" of a diet. It's…
  • grilled portabella mushroom caps stuffed with homemade bruschetta (chopped tomato, spinach, reduced fat feta minced garlic, chopped onion) It was very colorful!
  • astrampe, kudos for your hard work and dedication. It sounds like you are working very hard for your body. However, I'm not sure the original poster is quite to your level of exercise and fitness yet. Given the chance, I'm sure she will figure out where she needs to be. And I'm sorry we can't be friends.
  • Please don't listen to astrampe. I totally agree with Springer007 and AmyP619. If you are a female in your 40s-50s, 1500 calories is too much to eat for weightloss. Your scale agrees with me. "Eat for the body you want, not the body you have." GL!
  • Watching Joey Votto, Jay Bruce, and Aroldis Chapman represent the REDS!! Go NL :drinker:
  • It looks like the FT7 is waterproof. (From what I see online. I do not have a HRM.) Has anyone used this in the pool for swimming?
  • It looks to me like your calorie intake is too high and you are eating to maintain, not lose. Try to slowly replace some of your diet coke with water. Also, as others mentioned, sodium could be cut back. Replacing diet coke is an easy way to start lowering sodium. Good luck and don't give up! :)
  • Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) quantifies the number of calories you burn in a day http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html
  • I was just like that when I started! Breakfast, lunch no problem. Dinner, forget about it! The problem was I was fixing big dinners for just two people, and there was no portion control. I started plating portions of food before I put it on the dinner table (rather than setting the table with casserole dishes) and would…
  • That sounds good! Great way to replace a carb :)
  • I've been a little obsessed with this spinach salad I've been making. Lots of spinach, 2 oz of Boar's head low sodium turkey (from the deli) strawberries, avocado, maybe some chopped sweet onion (raw) and Paul Newman's Lite Honey Mustard dressing. Easy to throw together.
  • My exercise consists mostly of walking and swimming, and some hiking, pilates, and circuit training (with weights). Thanks for the encouragement! I'll pay more attention to the saturated fat, too. I do have my calories set at 1,000 but for a couple reasons...it's easier math for me to see net calories and actual calories.…
  • I already replied to this, but I was also thinking --during my walk  -- instead of focusing on your weight, try making other goals for yourself. I do not give myself weightloss goals. I make goals for what I CAN control. I have calorie goals and set my macros to 40/40/20 (carbs, protein, fat). I have exercise goals…
  • If you are eating healthy and exercising regularly, do you think it's possible that you are at a healthy goal weight? I'm 5'1" and when I was between 120 and 126 I felt my best. I was told I was "suppose" to weight 102-118, but that was very unrealistic for me. If I were you, I wouldn't feel bummed at all. There are so…
  • I second this! I have a long way to go to eat "clean" but I like the idea. One of the features I love about MFP is sharing a diary.
  • I like Paul Newman's lite honey mustard and lite basalmic vinegarette :)
  • I agree. I am 5'1, but for me to lose weight, I have to keep my calories around 1,000-1200. It is important to make sure that what you are eating counts. I try to eat 40% carbs, 40% protein, and 20% fat. It keeps me from getting hungry. I think the key is "listen to your body." If you are hungry, give yourself permission…
  • Fantastic story! I love hearing how people get started. Your story is similar to mine. I saw a picture of myself and was so embarrassed! When I started in April I could hardly exercise and just started slow. I've lost 25 pounds so far and it's made a huge difference in my endurance! Congrats on your 1 year!
  • I'm doing the 30 DS now. I've been tracking calories and just try to move as much as possible. I don't "bank" the calories I get from exercise to eat more. I've set a calorie goal and I stick to it. My only thing with the video is you're doing the same muscle movement for several days in a row. I'm not questioning the…
  • I was staying with a friend this weekend and her mom said something about me being a "big girl". I had to bite my tongue, and hopefully I will just never see her again. I was a little pissed off and completely caught off guard because I was a guest in her home. In addition, she was no particular prize herself. I can…
