I did LCHF for quite a while and it worked well and I enjoyed it. Eventually I got tired of having to keep certain things out of my diet and ended up throwing everything out the window. I gained most of the weight back. I know that low carb keeps me full and makes it easier to stay below my calorie goal. Now I'm having…

I am going to start the Points plus plan and I have no intention of paying for anything. There are point calculator apps all over the internet for computer and phone which is what I am using. It told me how many points I get and calculated the points of each food. I tend torwards lower carb, so I think I will like this…

The fool proof way to make mayo is to use an immersion blender. Here's a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i090qmXzoz4 I add 1/14 cups light olive oil, 1 large egg, 1 T vinegar (whatever you have), a pinch of salt and I add 1T Dijon). Throw it all in the cylindrical cup that comes with the blender. Stick the blender…

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BPUY3W0/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This magnesium supplement saved my life when I was having terrible leg cramps at night, but it helps very much with constipation as well. Miracle for a number of things.

Hi. You're going to love this way of eating. I aim for 1300 calories as well. My macros are 10% carb/20% protein and 70% fat. I know some go lower on carbs and make it up with fat. I may try that myself soon.

Low Carb is amazing, but calories count. If you're not losing any weight after a week, or 2, the culprit might be a little too much of all the lovely low carb options. Count your calories for a week and see if it makes a difference.

This has been a MIRACLE for my leg cramp. It will save your life! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BPUY3W0/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As far as alcohol goes, if I count them in my carbs and calories for the day, I don't have trouble. Might be a little extra water weight in the morning which goes away…

Cheese is amazing and part of my daily food intake. It saves me actually, but remember, cheese has calories and eating to many calories is always going to stall weight loss. Pay attention to your overall calories per day for a while and fit cheese into your calorie goals and of course lowering your carbs always helps.

I fell off the wagon around Christmas and gained 10 lbs. I know exactly what I was doing wrong; eating my yummy low carb things and eating sugar, crackers, etc in addition. Disaster in the calorie department. I started back in earnest last Sunday and have stayed within my calorie and carb goals so far. Toast in the morning…

Brown in a stainless pan (after you salt and pepper well). Remove. Add mushrooms and wine (whatever you like), deglaze and reduce wine a little and add a little butter or cream (I'm primal). Add pork chops back to sauce to finish cooking. Taste sauce and check for seasoning. Serve over spaghetti squash, mashed cauliflower…

You get lot's of credit for being thoughtful enough to plan ahead. As mentioned before, precooking is a great idea if you have a fridge to store in. Being the Mom of a college kid, your parents would probably like to keep to the meal plan as much as possible if they are paying for it. Again, breakfast is a great time to…

Nope delicious especially if there is lots of filling. Don't overheat though or you could reduce the power level, a little.

I eat breakfast at work too. I usually take a scrambled egg and 2 strips of bacon and 1/2 an avocado cut into cubes and eat the whole thing out of my pyrex container. Sometimes I will make a giant omelet on the weekend and add whatever cheese I like, maybe some salsa or whatever. When it cools, cut it up into 5 wedges and…

I find that eating Primal/Paleo (low carb/high fat/moderate protein) keeps me so much more satisfied and craving less. I still count calories but am not always starving. If I find myself hungry I have some lunchmeat or, a hardboiled egg. Good luck!
-
That's exactly right. Calories are key but eating low carb makes keeping calories down so much easier.
-
Interesting but doesn't fit me at all. I'm A+ and tolerate all the animal protein very well. I do love vegetables but you couldn't pay me enough money to be a vegetarian. Maybe I'm a mutant.

I tend towards low carb because as someone else mentioned earlier, it is so much easier to keep my calories is check when I am eating more protein and fat. I definitely watch calories but I don't have cravings and feel the deprivation much at all compared to when I am eating more carbs and less fat. Bottom line calories…

Mayo base dressings are good. I make a creamy Caesar with homemade mayo, olive oil, anchovy paste, Worcestershire, and garlic or garlic powder, s & p. Almost paleo. Close enough for me

I've taken the last 3 weeks off for the holidays but I posted today and will from now on. Feel free to peruse.

When I'm trying to lose weight I keep my carbs under 50 gm and count calories and protein to make sure I don't overeat protein. It is my understanding that eating more protein than your body needs is counter productive. I aim for .5 gm per lb of body weight.

Low Carb is amazing and I follow Primal specifically. I love cauliflower too. So many things you can do. I also love spaghetti squash. You can treat it like spagetti or macaroni (bake like mac and cheese) or even hash browns. Brown some in butter or bacon fat like you would hash browns and serve fried eggs over the instead…

I realized one day when I was making slaw with napa cabbage that napa cabage leaves are large with the perfect consistency to make lettuce wraps. Haven't tried it yet but I think it would work really well.

I find I have to count calories. I'm about 5'8" 168. I aim for around 1300 but get closer to 1400 most days. High fat helps me keep my calories in check.

Alright, I am going to defend my alcohol consumption but of course everyone is different. I don't have any adverse affects of alcohol (in my case dry red or white wine) if I count it in my carbs (less than 50) for the day. The adverse affects he mentions in the article seem the common ones found when eating a SAD diet with…

Add me if you like. I'm a little obsessive about diary posting. I enjoy tweaking. Kind of make it a game. Mostly I am tweaking to fit my wine into my calories and macros. I still notice calories to be the thing that affects my weight loss the most but being Primal/Paleo sure does make it a lot easier to stay within my…
