I am going to ask a stupid question... Let's say you are eating 1540 calories a day (which I am) and then you do a LOT of exercise one day which takes you below 1200. Is that the same as eating 1200 calories and will that slow your weight loss down or speed it up.

Saggy *kitten* jeans on men with underwear hanging out. I just want to reach out and pull them down. They look stupid. As for women -- pretty much anything Kim Kardashian would wear.

Not having a great great day. I mainly try to just stick to not going over my limit every day, and I went over by 30 calories today which is not a big deal I know. But I went over those calories by eating a stupid Boston Creme donut this morning which has left me hungry and cranky all day since I felt I needed to…

I'm going to say something that is very hard to do. But relax and don't stress or obsess about it. Breathe deep. Give the stress to God or the Universe or what guides you. You need to get out of that part of your brain that worries about failure. Yes, it is important to be healthy and to take care of yourself but often…

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I had an RNY in December 2008. I have been very fortunate and have not had any problems. I had a very very good surgeon who is internationally known for doing this surgery, and I am sure that had a lot to do with it -- along with just being fortunate. Yes, I had some co-morbidities and…

Absolutely agree with you 100 percent. You are an adult and are capable of making your own decision. I've been through the surgery. It's not easy. But it was the best thing I ever did.

Congrats!

Every day when I wake up. Like someone said, I like to be aware of the fluctuations and don't obsess if nothing happens or even goes up. If you are taking in less than you are using you will lose weight.

I've never heard of a doctor who'd do an RNY on someone who only wants to lose 25 lbs.

After I had my RNY, I had to attend support meetings of other patients the doctor had performed surgery on. I remember there was a couple there who had had the surgery and they were bragging about how they could each eat 10 M&M's without dumping. I was astounded that someone would go through the surgery and then compete…

Again, in response to your lack of research. Insurance won't cover weight loss surgery unless there are underlying medical conditions that it will help, i.e., diabetes, hypertension, etc. It's not glamorous. And you just don't wake up and say, "oh, I'm fat. I'm going to have surgery." After you personally make the decision…

Your body no longer produces ghrelin which kills cravings. Congrats on your success. :-)

Unfortunately your reasoning, while sound on many levels, is not entirely correct. Bypass surgery does change your body metabolically which is why the weight loss is so fast. Your doctor bypasses a portion of your intestines that digests food and absorbs calories which in turn causes your metabolism to rise. Basically,…

I had an RNY done in December 2008 and lost close to 200 lbs during that year. I recommend connecting with the people on ObesityHelp.com also. They have great support groups. I lost a lot of weight the first yelar. I never reached my goal, but I made significant health strides. Diabetes went away. COPD went away. High…

Most sensible post I have read all day!

If you are hungry, you need to eat some protein. Maybe a boiled egg. It will take the edge off and you will not feel the hunger pangs.

You've lost 7 lbs this week? Congrats!
