Tomorrow never comes, please help me?

I've been going through a hard time lately. and majorly fallen off the wagon. i gained back every thing i had lost. and i'm so ashamed and disgusted with myself. i keep saying, tomorrow is the day, tomorrow i will. but tomorrow never comes lately. i want to say now, tomorrow i truly am going to stick to my diet. but what if i fail again. i'm scared. i did it once before and stuck to it. i should be able to do it again. i just have such a hard time controlling my binge eating. when i am sad and emotional i eat like crazy. eating comforts me. i need to stop that. any one got any words of wisdom or some good tips for sticking to my diet,?

I'm a firm believer in when you are ready, you will do it. You have to really just DECIDE to do it, and DO it.0

Tomorrow comes every time the sun rises. You have to re-commit each and every day to take care of yourself, no one else can do it for you. I recommend you fina an OA group or a counselor to help you get your head on straight. Check out my profile, when you have a chance my friend.0

Get rid of the junky foods in your house. Less temptation. If emotions make you eat snack on something healthier (fruits, veggies, I like pretzels). Also a good workout can be great for getting emotions out.0

Are you aiming to eat too low calorie when you diet? If you do then you can end up bingeing so up your calorie intake to a sensible level. You only need a deficit and it doesn't have to be a large deficit to lose. So what if it takes longer because you won't be suffering the whole time. So what is your TDEE? Work it out with this tool.

Think of your "why" if you know WHY you want to stick to your diet then you can get through almost anything to reach it.
I'm an emotional eater too.....best way for me to handle that was to 1.) stay away from ppl, situations that cause too much stress. 2.) replace emotional eating with working out or doing anything besides eating that makes me feel better.
Just being aware of what you are doing is a good start.0 -
I totally understand. I always seem to gain back all the weight I worked so hard to lose. And just like you I say, "tomorrow will definitely be the day i start up again" but it never seems to work out that way. Don't rush it regardless of how you feel. You won't succeed unless you are completely in the mindset. Otherwise, you will just fall off the diet and have to start all over again. Good luck!0

Have you ever used an exercise journal? I've been finding that pretty helpful since I started a weight training program. Originally, I started using it so I could keep track of my weights and reps. I go to the gym with the day's workout already written down. Lately, I've started adding some cardio/hiit to the end of my workouts a couple of times a week, but a lot of the time, I'm really tired and try to talk myself out of it. I'll say "well, I've already done the FULL workout from the program I'm using. Cardio is just extra, and I'm tired." Or, if i'm doing more hiit stuff (burpees, mountain climbers, etc), sometimes I'll start writing down "I wrote down that I was going to do 3 rounds, but I'm too wiped, so I stopped after two. That's a cop-out answer though- I just don't want to do it. Fine. I'll finish." And then I get off my lazy butt and finish what I said I'd finish.
It sounds silly but there really have been several times where I have talked myself into completing a workout that I had committed to because I didn't want that failure to stand in my exercise log.
So, you could try grabbing a note book and writing down what sort of workout you want to do tomorrow (or today). Maybe that'll help give you some motivation.
I definitely feel your pain though. I've been stuck in that "I'll start tomorrow" pattern many times. Even worse, for me it often turns into "well I'm starting to be healthy again tomorrow, so I may as well eat this mcdonald's/cake/donut/whatever crap food, because starting tomorrow- no more of that!" Yeah. Didn't tend to work out that way. The one thing you can be sure of is that if you don't start- you're going to keep feeling frustrated and unhappy with your body. And if you're like me, you'll keep moving further and further in the opposite direction. Eating healthy and exercising can be frustrating and slow. You make the changes in your life and you want your outward appearance to reflect that immediately, but unfortunately it doesn't. But moving forward (however slowly) is better than moving backwards.

That use to be me...then I realized if I didn't start at that moment it would never happen....listen to what everyone just wrote it is so true.. no snack food that is junk...only healthy food snacks....just take a deep breath and say I can do this....my 7yr old son always says to me ( MOM! never give up! if you give up your a quiter and quiter's never win! ) whenever I want to give up I think of those words....best of luck to you and I believe you can do it!!!! add me if you like for some support!!!0 -
I'm going to say something that is very hard to do. But relax and don't stress or obsess about it. Breathe deep. Give the stress to God or the Universe or what guides you. You need to get out of that part of your brain that worries about failure.
Yes, it is important to be healthy and to take care of yourself but often overeating is due to not taking care of another part of "you." Focus on finding a passion that is more important to you than food. It sounds corny, but for me knitting always helped, or crocheting, or sewing, or making some sort of craft -- painting --- anything that had nothing to do with food but occupied my mind. The year after my surgery I knitted so many ponchos! Everyone I knew I think I gave ponchos to! Or even do a jigsaw puzzle, crosswords, sudoko. Find something to take your mind off of the fact that you are on a diet and you will find it easier to stick with it.
Another thing log into MFP the minute you eat something. Treat your allocated calories like a financial budget. Everyday you have x amount and when they are gone, they are gone. Just like you do your paycheck.0 -
Just keep plugging away at it. Log in everyday even if you do nothing but log in. At least it keeps you accountable and keeps it at the front of you mind and you will just do better. Best of luck, you will get in the groove before too long.0

I think I'm going to state the obvious here but if you find yourself constantly binge eating and food comforts you. Replace the food that is high in calories and low in nutrition with food that is high in nutrition and low in calories(DON'T STARVE YOURSELF). That way you are able to eat more food when you are seeking comfort without destroying the progress you have worked on. Dieting is problematic, you should try to look at your eating/exercise habits as a way of life. It sounds like you are distressed by what is happening to you and I would follow some of the advice of others and seek support through these hard times (groups, friends, MFP). Remember to error is human to forgive is divine, so please forgive yourself. Breath and try to do what is necessary. YOU ARE NOT ALONE0

Been there, done that...I too am a stress eater! My life is extremely stressful and I find myself wanting to eat late at night. Find something you like to do. Sew, quilt, listen to music, dance, etc. Allow yourself enough calories to have something you LOVE to eat and have that when you are needing to eat. I LOVE choc. I will take the alloted amount and break it into pieces. I then leave it somewhere wher I have to get up and walk to get it (don't leave it all in the same place). Put some in the bedroom, some in the basement, some in a closet, the more you have to get up and go find it, the more you may ask yourself "is it really worth it?" Hope this helps.0
