  • I have a Chris Freytag personal blender - got it for a Christmas present about 5 years ago and love love love it! It makes the best shakes with ice and/or frozen fruit. My friend had a bullet when I was visiting her in AZ and my personal blender worked so much better. Youl blend in the same cup you drink out of of and it…
  • Message Whimzee - I think she will need to send you a request. We are starting on January 14!
  • Hey - I'm there with you - I'm a little shorter but I am in the same weight category and wanting to get to around the same weight. I'm a little older - but if you don't mind that - feel free to friend me. I'm pretty active on the boards and I am starting New Rules of Lifting for Women in January, I also do the Insanity…
  • My other favorite in the mornings is frozen strawberries, with 4 oz of OJ (you can use more if you like, I try to keep the sugars down) and blend with ice with vanilla protein powder - if its not sweet enough add a few drops of stevia - though mine is plenty sweet. If you want a different taste you can add a tablespoon of…
  • If you like coffee - try this: 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder 1 tablespoon of Instant coffee (instant crystals) 8 oz of skim milk (a little water to mix it where you want it to be) ice and blend - to me it taste better than a starbucks blended coffee
  • You can get just as good of a workout from brisk walking without the pressure on your knees. Move your arms as if you were skiing - it will really bump your heart rate up. Also, and sorry if I missed this on your OP - but if your not doing i - add some weights - even a small routine with weights can make a big difference.
  • Yes - go in and set your own calorie goal and set your macros as the above poster suggested to the percentage - I did some research and I think I set mine to 40/30/30 -- you are going to want more protein for sure. Eat things like natural Peanut Butter, nuts, do protein shakes, etc. Its the balance of eating your calories…
  • Me too - was trying to start earlier but have decided to just start fresh the first of the year. Add me!
  • I wouldn't worry about going over on protein - as I am sure you have it set to MFP standards which is low, I wouldn't worry about going over on fat and sugar either. I would look at your carbs -- try to keep your carbs lower by eating real food - not processed carbs - if you do this then your sugar and sodium should go…
  • Try this - delicious! 2 liters of water (about 8 1/2 cups) 1 tsp of freshly grated ginger 1 med cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced 1 med. lemon, thinkly sliced 12 small spearmint leaves
  • I buy a pasta that has higher fiber in it. My hubby really likes pasta and I like it enough I have a hard time not eating it at all so I do the higher fiber and reduce my servings as a previous poster said before.
  • Awesome thanks for posting! Can't wait to get over this sickness so I can get started.
  • Hi! I'm new to the group and getting ready to start the program. Hopefully will get my book today or I'll order it if I can't find it in the store. I've been sick with bronchial crap and have a drs. appt. tomorrow but hoping to be better and start the program on Monday the 10th. I'll read the book - have my plan and…
  • So I figured my calories from a worksheet I got off of the NROL4W group and my nonworkout days to lose is only 1290 -- so not far from the 1200 that MFP gave me. My active workout calories is 1562 -- which if I count the execise calories and I was doing is where I have bascially been for about a year. So I'm hoping that…
  • The one thing I will say to anyone upping their calories, at least when I did up mine for a short time and I lost, BUT only when I also changed my macros and kept my macros where they should be - meaning that I had to eat more protein and less processed carbs in order to lose on the higher calories. I found my information…
  • If you want a simple way to start have someone at the gym show you the circuit weight training area. Usually a gym will have set up and sometimes even numbered a set of machines that are for circuit training. Its usually around 7 or 10 machines and it will work upper and body and rotate. I do like doing free weights but if…
  • I'm close - I have my goal set to 1200 for the moment but I usually end up with about 1400 to 1500. I'm at 164 but need to lose about 25 pounds. I am trying to do it by exercising and eating healthy. Feel free to friend me.
  • I commend those people that have that sheer willpower too. I feel like I do pretty good even though my husband doesn't watch what he eats at all, snacks on chips and ice cream all the time, and wants those carb loaded dinners -- but I also find it hard to eat strict when I'm buying and cooking other stuff. I try to cook…
  • Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your polar ft4 I got mine from bodytronics too and it's been working great - you must have got a lemon :( - I love mine!
  • Go get a body wrap - I love them - they will shrink your tummy a bit but they also just make you look and feel great.
  • Hmm - great idea - I was following the zig zag calorie plan for a while trying to basically do the same thing and it got cumbersome too. I just started keeping a weekly total on my notes on my phone. But this is a great idea - thanks for sharing!
  • Yep - we are some quiet ones in here :). I would love to meet more people and do some runs or charity events -- I'm just not good at organizing them. For your ladies out there -- I have started doing a pole dancing class and they also offer other classes like Zumba, booty bootcamp, etc. It is a lot of fun. It is not far…
  • I'm only 5'2 but I also need to lose about 20 lbs and having a really hard time doing it. I just joined a challenge to lose by the end of the year and I set a goal of 15 lbs. Which honestly I'd be happy with 10! I'm working out and really active but I just can't seem to get a grip on my eating habits and being consistent.…
  • Yep been on here about a year and actually have gained a pound. I'm still here and still trying to figure it out but it is frustrating. I know a lot of mine over the last year is not having will power where I should have. But I work out hard and am very active, I would have thought that would have still gotten me some…
  • I was trying to lose doing the TDEE -percentage and I have not lost. And I've been very good at logging and I've been very active in my exercise. The person who referred me to MFP lost a lot of weight and that was over 2 years ago and she has kept it all off. I asked her the other day what she did for calories and exercise…
  • Thanks for the invite! So many stories on here sound so similar to mine. I am a young 48 year old who is happily married to the man of my dreams! My husband is younger than me and keeps on my toes! I have one grown son who I am very proud of, he did 4 years in the Navy (as did I) and now he is living and thriving in the…
  • I love the Insanity workouts but I couldn't make it thru the while workout either. As the above poster said don't compete with the people on the video compete with yourself. I am not doing the two month challenge I just do the videos every other day and rotate thru them. When I first started and couldn't do the push ups I…
  • Yes definitely. U thinking can be done - we just have to try harder. I'm getting ready to go back to doing the Jay Robb Fat Burning Diet. I lost good on it last time and its a healthy clean eating plan sustainable for life. I slowly started increasing the bad things back in my diet over the last few years and still only…
  • "Not sure if serious, but 25 grams of protein in a day isn't too much or even enough. I have 25 grams before I even wake up in the morning. My protein goal is like 195 grams. " ^^This! If you go by MFP calculations its almost always too low on protein. I set mine manually to a percentage - 40% which makes mine 122 grams.
