  • wow! Hadnt heard of waterford, but they're great looking bikes. I used to have a colnago master with nice lugs, but it was a bit too small ...
  • my wife had two cats when we met, i'm not a huge cat fan but figured they wouldnt last forever.... 16 years later Minstrel will be 20 next month and poor little Horriss died last week aged 18ish .
  • totally this. That shouldnt have happened in a first session - perhaps when they know your limits and are pushing you a little bit harder than is comfortable then it's OK, but never the first time.
  • I was in a really bad mood till I read this thread... Thanks to all the biters!! (hold the mustard on mine thanks, got any salsa?)
  • I only need it on runs over an hour (and I sweat a ridiculous amount), I try and plan the run so i loop back past near the house after 45-50 minutes and hide a bottle in the hedge
  • Sacks of horse food Random bits of horse hair Bits of tack Its my wifes car.... :ohwell:
  • dont know - how about weigh yourself before and after? there was a study a couple of years ago that showed with SCIENCE that beer was better to re-hydrate with than water :drinker: but if you're not into beer, how about nuun or similar zero-calorie electrolyte replacement stuff?
  • Bicycles (8 at the last count...) and stuff to go on them, and nice cameras and lenses. Gawd knows how much I've spent over the years.... Meh, it's that or food!
  • if you're so inclined, you can get hog-whimpering tired on a bike in an hour!! Coach Troy's your man, buy a turbo trainer for your bike and google for 'Spinervals' DVDs. Its hard work but a great way to get the most out of an hour Can you use a rowing machine? That's a great whole-body workout in 40 minutes (but decent…
  • if you want to replace electrolytes on a hot / sweaty day and dont want the calories, use zero-calorie tablets that go in water instead of gatorade which is full of sugar, there are several brands, I use Nuun. It's awesome for hangovers too...
  • yeah, born & bred in newmarket and now living in saffron walden!
  • it's damn depressing, but yes I log them all too. Even the cheeky lunchtime pint yesterday went into the diary.... And I suspect it does more than just adding calories too, I'm sure it slows down weight loss far more than the calories it accounts for (and not just because it lowers willpower for rubbish food!)
  • hey from Essex!
  • napping is the most awesome thing ever - i try and do it every day :) I set an alarm to keep it to 10 - 15 minutes and need a big glass of water and an espresso when i get up, but I feel awesome for it!! (I'm not losing much weight, but I've only just started this journey, so hopefully that'll happen soon...)
  • near cambridge here, about 40lb to lose and almost no willpower at all!! anyone v. welcome to add me...
  • no room for cars in **our** garage
  • the opposite of vibrams!! I needed major physio and weight training after pulling a calf muscle when I switched to vibrams - what I should have done is go to a running shop for gait analysis and got the inward-collapse-supporting shoes I really needed. that, plus learning to run with my feet further apart seems to…
  • might scrape a 5 for looks. Personality a solid 3.
  • 1. Where were you born? Cambridge, UK 2. Where do you live at the moment? still near Cambridge, UK 3. Where else have you lived? Durham, for a bit, then back to cambridge. 4. What is your current occupation? What is your dream occupation? unemployed at the moment, having walked out of a job when it turned nasty. Hoping to…
  • have you got a foam roller? If not, might be worth trying it, they're v. good for self-massage if it is ITB (they sounds quite gentle dont they? 'foam roller', like rolling about in foam? now imagine the *opposite* of that... )
  • i was told to go with HRM, but that's a huuuuuge difference!! Are you sure the age/height/weight are set up right on the HRM? If they are, I guess going with the lower value would be the best way to avoid the 'but I burnt 10,000 calories last month, how have I not lost any weight??' issue......
  • from what I've learnt from painful experience, dodgy knees are normally a sign that something else is out of whack.. If you can go see a good sports physio, they might be able to spot it (could be the wrong shoes, lack of strength, the way you're running, anything or everything!) dont run your knee gets sore every time,…
  • good luck Jim!
  • Prets do a couple of low-carb salads, the avocado & prawn one is lovely. Pricey though. And their flat white coffee is too good to leave as well, so it's over a fiver every trip....
  • oops.. really shouldnt post before coffee.
  • read the thread. *edited by MFP moderator* (I'm off to buy agave, whatever that is... )
  • meh. Not so much. kidding dude, that's absolutely **fantastic** work - inspirational stuff!! How much quicker is your bike going up hills now?
