Dad's funeral was yesterday. Looking forward to an emotional recharge. Lots of little things to do, but the emotional heavy lifting is done. <3

Syd- He's SOOOO cute! <3 . You must be excited to see him.

Hi Lushes. As many of you know I have been spending time at my folks house while my dad was on hospice. It was sometime during the early morning of March 23rd, that he died in his sleep. My wife and I had been helping mom out, staying every other day, sleeping on the floor on a cot and air mattress next to him for two and…

very cool pic of your son Syd! Hope everyone is doing ok!

Ann- looks COLD. Even the fire looks cold, lol. Beautiful picture. Is it your back yard?
-
Unbeatable scenery! I can see why you love Palm Springs so much!

Syd- Valentines Day anniversary- awwww how romantic! The picture is beautiful! Tell me that it is from your place!

I am friends on FaceBook with Robin, one of the groups founding members. She said she lost her big brother to cancer. Robin, very sorry for the loss of your brother! <3

Looks like we all survived the holidays. So happy to be in 2021, and am optimistic about things improving. My dad, who is 91, has begun to fail. We got him on hospice two weeks ago. Fortunately I only live 5 minutes away so I am able to respond when falls occur, and to help my mom move him to the commode etc. Yesterday a…

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! As Syd mentioned above, we have scaled back our Thanksgiving plans. We will go to our son and his wife's place and have a Thanksgiving meal, just the four of us. It will be nice for us as we usually host the event at our place for a dozen plus people. This year has been a challenging one.…

Great picture of your daughter and daddy to be! They look so happy! Syd, that sunset is worthy of a post card! Well, this year has been a truly awful one for us. Yesterday our French bulldog had two seizures, terrifying to watch, we just held her until they subsided. She was 14.5 years old. The breed only lives 10-12 years…

Thanks for the new thread Syd! As for the extra pounds, they will disappear soon. Great profile pic btw. <3

I feel the same Amy. We had bad smoke here in Washington State. Combine that with the stress of the pandemic and ailing parents, and we can't seem to find time to let our guard down and relax. We just heard last night that our son has been laid off from his job and a mechanical engineer. He works in the aerospace industry…

What a great picture of you and your son Syd! <3

GratsAnn! Air quality here very unhealthy. A few days ago Portland had the worst quality in the world. In fact it was off the scale. There is some hope it will be better by the weekend. Headaches, and a general feeling of "not well". The whole west coast is under a veil of smoke. Great pictures Ann and Sydney!

Way to go Amy! Beloved rituals are what keep us motivated! Also congrats on paying off your student loan, no small feat in this economy... B)

Syd, how adorable! Hoping you will be able to snuggle with them SOON! <3

Just catching up on the thread, it looks as if everyone is plugging along. Syd, so glad you got to see your son! I think not being able to physically see your loved ones is the hardest part of this pandemic. :/ Ann- How wonderful! <3 By the time your grand baby arrives this covid thing should have run its course. So happy…

We are doing well. Last weekend a few of our family members went to my follks house for mother's day and visited with them. We all brought chairs and sat outside on the parking area. Kept our distance, no hugging etc. It was good to see everyone. Syd, I hope it works out for your son to visit, nothing like having our loved…

But, but, but, eating crap is something I look forward to every day! Kidding aside, I need to establish my routine again. Difficult with the distractions of the corona virus, but much needed!

Thanks Ann, feeling much better. I saw the oncologist today.. He does not think cancer has anything to do with the clots. I will have labs done again in August to confirm the possible genetic predisposition to clotting the initial test have. Until then, moderate exercise, drop some weight and just do the things I should be…

Thanks Ann! Darla and I slept 10 hours last night. Feel like a new man. . . . Will most likely turn in my lush card for a few days, I have lost a bit of weight and want to see if I can continue the trend!

Syd, a desert rain shower sounds so relaxing! I was discharged today. Leg still sore but getting better. Now to see specialists to find out why this happened! Very tired. It was hard to rest while being awoken every few hours for vitals and blood work. Also, sleeping with an iv in, ekg telemetry wires on and an O2 monitor…

Thanks Ann. My worry now is the underlying cause. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's something easily dealt with. I am so happy yours had a good outcome!

Not sure my reply sent as I am still learning using the phone. I feel like I have racked up a debt leaning on you and the other lashes. Thank you for the positive thoughts, they mean a lot. Have a 🍷for me tonight!

In the hospital for a few days. For some reason I developed a clot in my leg and lung. Looking forward to getting this sorted out.

Unexpected death in the family. Darla's cousin, one she had grown up with, got an infection in her toe, which spread to her blood and then to her spine and brain. We got the word she was in the hospital Thursday and she died yesterday evening. She had sepsis and a brain infection, meningitis. I had a similar event happen…

Settling down here to our quarantine. The other day Darla's niece and her kids were in the neighborhood and did a drive by visit. Rolled down the windows and we said hi. It was good to actually see them. Being able to stay in contact is so important. Keeping in touch with family, and hanging out with you guys is good food…

Thanks for beginning the new thread Sydney! I found out a couple days ago that a firefighter I worked with has come down with the virus. I was his Lieutenant when he was first hired and I mentored him through his probation. His wife has now come down with it. They have two boys, early teens. They are very sick but not…
