I love dried cranberries with almonds!

I love that restaurants are now getting on the bandwagon of posting their calorie info. chains are easy since a lot of them post online (although when you are there, that info isn't always at your fingertips). McDonalds now have the calorie info for fries on the container, and when I was in NYC a few months ago so many…

I've never been a runner either, but last fall I started the couch to 5k program at my gym - it wasn't too intense and wasn't a daily program so it fit my lifestyle well. as a new runner, I was more concerned about the amount of time I could run before having to walk again - and finally got to running 20 minutes straight…

um... veggies? I always get broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, sometimes brussel sprouts, mushrooms, spinach....

I hate that I turn beet red and sweat like a beast. it'd be easier if I didn't have to go back home and shower before moving on with my day.

I love to get out in my garden and work out there - pulling weeds mostly at this point, but planting really got me working too.

I've found that it takes a bit of time of doing this to adjust to eating less. If you're still hungry, go for some lean protein (4oz chicken breast is 100 calories) or fruits or veggies. Breakfast for me is oatmeal with fruit in winter or yogurt with kashi cereal and fruit in summer. most of the time is is under 200…

I burn 400/hour during a lower/slower class and 450/hour if it's more upbeat. To compare, I only burn 325/45 minutes on the elliptical where my HR is between 160 and 17 for the majority of the time. I feel like it takes me longer/higher intensity to burn more calories than average. I do love Zumba though, and I'd rather do…

I try to bring healthy snacks - fruit, carrots, 100 calorie packs, granola bars, etc. jerky is a fairly low cal (high sodium) option too. when eating out, I try to stick with broiled fish or shrimp, salads with dressing on the side. if I want a drink, I have a captain and diet, which is fairly good calorie wise.

I do something similar with ground turkey too. I've also considered putting mashed cauliflower on top in place of potatoes.

I'd advise against giving it to your dogs... large amounts of a higher fat food like PB can cause pancreatitis in dogs. I see it pretty frequently (I'm a vet).

sometimes your body also gets used to the lower calorie intake and upping your calories a little help. I went on vacation in February, didn't count calories although tried to be healthy, and finally broke my plateau.

thanks for all the words of support. also - the dinner was a birthday dinner with the bf's family. we had no control over the menu and after working a 12 hour day I was just happy to not have to make dinner.

I don't count calories in garlic or onions since they're low in calories and I only add a small amount to anything anyway. I am also not too strict on most veggies - I generally just estimate since they are low in calories and healthy calories. I do try to count them thought.

starting to plan my first every veggie garden. already started the tomatoes (heirloom varieties) inside. Also going to try cucumbers, broccoli and squash. Any other suggestions?

I eat a ton of dairy, granted, I'm a vet who works with dairy cows on a daily basis. Studies show that women who drink milk weigh less.

I live in Northern NY, right over the border from southern Ontario (about 45 minutes south of Ottawa) and many grocery stores here carry that and Oikos greek yogurt. If you live near the border, you could come stock up periodically.

I made this without the wheat germ and peanut butter (don't have the former and don't like the latter). I also used splenda brown sugar blend instead of straight brown sugar to try and cut a few calories. Interestingly enough, by calculating it on spark recipes, I got 99.6 calories per bar (I was expecting less since I cut…
