I agree, proximity is important! If it is frustrating to get there, or takes a long time, it's too easy to use that as an excuse so choose one close to home or work. My other suggestion is make sure you're comfortable there. Check the place out, make sure you're comfortable with the people there, the atmosphere, the…

I agree! Go get fitted for shoes! I swear by my Mizuno's but they fit me right and have the proper support. See if there is a Road Runner or Fleet Feet or any running/triathlon specialty store should be able to help you out. It makes a HUGE difference :)

I've been at a healthy weight for almost 10 years now, with a few minor gains in between. I run, do triathlons, strength train, and dance, but I will never have a "flat" stomach because of the extra skin. It does get a lot better with time and proper exercise/nutrition so don't give up :D

Yes!

Good luck :) You can do this!

warrior dash is fun! good luck everybody :D

I think that is a solid plan, even without the speed/hill work. You can incorporate that in on your own, just remember not every run/workout is the same, so it shouldn't feel the same. Maybe do one run/week with speed intervals and one with hills (or amp up your leg strength training on your cross training days instead of…

I did the one in SoCal in April. It was crazy fun :D

Definitely eat back most of your exercise calories, every body is different and maybe your body needs more calories later in the day. I'm the opposite, more than half of my daily calories is from breakfast :) @Carl1738-good tip on the nuts, I do the same thing, makes a big difference.

I'd be a rockstar if I could afford a trainer

I danced a lot until recently (vintage swing/lindy hop troupe, salsa, ballroom, belly dance, burlesque, a sprinkling of modern). It was the BEST feel good about me thing to do!! I haven't been at it much lately because of finances and a move to another state. Good for you :)

eat a regular dinner the night before and oatmeal with nuts/fruit or whole grain toast with egg or nut butter :) good luck!
-
You are all amazing! My breakfast calories are always high-usually between 550 and 700 calories, otherwise my training suffers and I'm hungry all day....
-
Great job on being so close to your goal! I have a few suggestions-First eat more raw veggies/fruits and lean proteins, looks like you get your oatmeal in :) Also, even though it is lower calorie, ditch the artificial sweeteners. Second I agree with doing higher intensity cardio once or twice per week, don't do it every…

I don't do "cheat" days...I find that if I'm overly strict or cautious I tend to overdo it when I get fed up. Instead, I don't completely deprive myself-I have a small piece of dark chocolate every day, or add flavored honey to my fruit or tea, and then I don't end up with too many calories on Saturday night because I…

My favorite is frozen banana, almonds, soy milk, and a little touch of honey.

Good advice here. My HRM burn is almost always HIGHER than the MFP number...so it definitely varies person to person. If you don't have a HRM, averaging is probably a good bet. For jogging/running, a general rule is about 100 calories per mile as a starting point. Less if you do a walk/run.

yes, it is at 1200, and I don't get that message anymore since I always eat up to or slightly over my 1200.
-
If I don't eat back all (or at least MOST) of my exercise calories, I gain weight, or maybe stay the same.

I used to train a woman (who became a really good friend) and she would say "I'm a weak weak human being" over and over again. I worked for her, she lost 35 pounds and ran her first half marathon in 4 months.

A lot of athletes/trainers subscribe to the total body concept, unless you want to be a body builder or something, it is most effective to combine strength and cardio a few times per week. Maybe try doing some general conditioning intervals on elliptical days, warm up for 5 minutes, then do pushups for one minute, 5 on…

green bean casserole and sweet potato pie....(for Thanksgiving) I LOVE apple pie too, my fave has cheddar cheese crumb topping

jumping rope is fantastic for cardio, core, and fast twitch muscles. as a runner though, I would caution doing it to often because of the impact and potential for over use of supporting muscle. You have to make sure to give yourself some recovery-remember most benefit comes after the fact while your body is…

welcome! add me if you want :flowerforyou: support=success!

My gym has a circuit training class that is geared toward athletes but it sounds similar to this in the description. I love it and it is a great burn.

welcome :drinker: Congrats on making healthy lifestyle changes! Your goals are solid and there's a lot of good (and some not so much) advice around here.

MIne took about 2 weeks before I felt comfortable eating regular foods. Don't eat yogurt, the cultures can cause infections. I ate a lot of soups to satisfy my savory side-broths, squash soup, any smooth or pureed soup and real juice popsicles or pudding for desserts. Eggs, smoothies etc. are great too. I was able to keep…
