  • Doctors run a business, just like everyone else. If your hairdresser told you she/he couldn't do anything with your hair and thought you lied when you said you wash it, would you stay with her/him? NO! Find the doctor that works for YOU. Shop around. Since you're going to be spending money there, you have the right to. I…
  • Because your weight is lower to begin with, your body requires fewer calories to run itself. Therefore, mathematically, to lose 2 pounds a week, you'd have to eat very few calories, which is too dangerous. MFP never recommends less than 1200 calories, which is why it says you will lost .5 lb/week. Honestly, I would go talk…
  • Ugh I have been so lazy and unmotivated this summer. I can't wait to go back to school just so I'm back on track. Does anyone else find that they are more motivated and on track at school, versus on breaks?
  • I know in New York, it is the law that all restaurants must have nutritional information available and provide it if customers ask. Therefore, most of these chain restaurants can probably easily obtain it. Also, try online. Most restaurants post the nutritional information on their website. I would also suggest contacting…
  • I have the original set of Zumba DVDs and enjoy them (not as much as the class though. Nothing beats the class), but I am getting sick of the same routines and songs over and over. I'm looking into the Exhilerate DVDs now. They look really fun, and different from the originals.
  • 5'2'' here! I only eat back exercise calories when I'm hungry. I just listen to my body. I talked to my doctor about weight loss, and she said that as long as I'm eating when I feel hungry, I should be fine. I'm not starving myself and my body lets me know when I'm hungry. I did the math out myself and for me to lose 1lb.…
  • "Don't give up" is my best tip. This winter I hit a two month plateau. Its really discouraging, but I kept working out regularly and keeping to my calorie goal. Eventually, I started losing weight again.
  • Its not a lost art, its a changing art.
  • I'm 5'2'' and my original goal was 125. I have reached 128 and stagnated there for the past two months. I decided I just want to tone up at this point, which will require losing a few more pounds. At this point, I'm going more for how I look in the mirror, rather than a number on the scale.
  • Because you are going so long in between meals, your body is more likely to hold onto fat and calories to last you until your next meal. Think about it: you eat dinner, and your body has to make that energy last until your next dinner. Especially since you are in a pattern, your body knows you have to last a while on that…
  • Stop at grocery stores if you can. You can get healthy snacks like a single yogurt, get lunch meat from the deli (just ask for a few slices), and they often have salad bars.
  • I'm better at it at school, too. Mostly because I can carefully control what I eat and my schedule (so I have time to exercise). At home, my schedule is unpredictable and I just eat whatever Mom makes. Plus, we eat out a lot more when I'm home.
  • I wanna play! My name's Erin and I'm going to be a "super senior" this fall. Since I transferred from a community college to a private four-year college, I have to stay an extra semester to finish my Bachelor's in English/Secondary Education/Special Education. Then I'll be starting my Master's degree in Literacy in the…
  • I used my college's gym all the time, but we didn't have an "orientation." We did have someone who worked the cardio and weight rooms who could answer any general questions, but they weren't experts or anything. I started off on the treadmill and bike and watched other people to figure out how to use the other machines.…
  • I'm 5'2'' and 128 pounds. I wear a size 4 pant (though they're getting loose) and a small shirt. I would fit in a XS if it weren't for my DDs.
  • I used to be a breakfast skipper and I could make it to lunch fine. Then I made it a habit to eat breakfast, and now I'm starving in the mornings. I also find that I eat less in the evenings when I eat a good breakfast. I think my body was used to me skipping breakfast and so would hold on to those calories from the…
  • The original poster said her pants don't have belt loops.
  • I would really suggest consulting a doctor. He/she will be more qualified to tell you what is healthiest and what will help the most in the long run. My doctor was helpful in determining realistic goals for myself.
  • I've heard that saying too. I always try to eat a good, hearty breakfast. I find that the heartier the breakfast (both a large breakfast and good foods), the less I eat for lunch and even less for dinner.
  • It absolutely affects how I order. I guess I'm lucky because in New York, restaurants are REQUIRED to have nutritional information available for customers and to provide it if asked. Also, many restaurants post their calorie contents (and sometimes the fat too). I think all restaurants in NY have to post their calories by…
  • A very large ice cream from my favorite place that makes it homemade!
  • I was on maintenance for two months and nothing happened. My aunt suggest going back to losing weight, so I'm going to try that for a month or so and see what happens.
  • I know how you feel. I just graduated college. Nights I knew I was going to be drinking, I was extra good eating-wise during the day and made sure to get in a really good workout the day of and the day after. I tried to burn 500 calories in my workout and eat around 1200 calories, so that gave me 500 calories for nights…

  • You don't have to pick an ultimate weight goal and be stuck with it. My goal has changed several times. I say go for 150 now and when you reach 150, re-evaluate. Remember that the ultimate goal is to be healthy and confident.
  • Wow, I can definitely see a difference! You look good!
  • You look awesome!
  • Congrats! That happened to me too, this past winter. I was on a major plateau but measured myself and found out I lost 3 inches over two months.
  • Ugh I went from a full 36DD to a comfortable 34DD. I wish they would have gone down. Large boobs run in the family so I didn't really think they would. A C-cup would have been nice. I hate how big mine are.
  • Thanks everyone! For once in my life, I am excited to go bathing suit shopping!
  • I like to keep healthier snacks in my dorm room. Also, look for foods higher in fiber, as they will make you feel fuller. Another suggestion is not to multi-task-- as in, don't eat and study. You're paying attention to your schoolwork (which is a good thing) and not to how much you're eating or how full you are. Take a 15…
