  • I like to treat myself on payday - every other Friday. Usually I go out for lunch and have chicken strips or something like that, instead of brown bagging it with salad and boiled eggs. But since I also have a karate class on Fridays I'm usually within or not much over my calories. I also find I am now satisfied with…
  • In addition to doing your workout in the morning, you could also try to log in what you're planning to eat ahead of time - that will give you a better idea what you can do IF you're worried about staying within your calories. Or you could just forget about calories for one day. It depends if you're going to feel…
  • I don't know - can you get YouTube? If you can get it, you could also download Real Player (it's free) to download the video clips. Then you can access them even with out Internet.
  • Go to YouTube and search for Spark People - they have great free workouts, most of them are around 10 minutes long with a lot of variety. They're fun to do and may help you get your mind off food.
  • No fair, we're all wondering now. Give!
  • No shopping, no cooking, no clean-up? Woo-hoo! But I would like the option to have food sometimes, even if it's work.
  • I think you need to get it checked by a doctor. Could it be a kidney infection? You can get some information and suggestions what to do here: www.healthlinkbc.ca Try "Check your Symptoms"
  • Ok - it's a user problem :noway: I had already entered my exercise, so "of course" I'll have more cals. Duh and double duh! I just wish I had got smart before posting :embarassed: I think I'll go back to bed.
  • I just changed my goals to get up to 1g/kg of protein and things got wacky. In my profile it still says my intake goal is 1,200 cals per day but on my food diary it's 1,327. Maybe it's a glitch - I'll be asking tech support.
  • We're having our dinner tonight. I've already logged it in so I know how much I can take of everything. Since I'm also having a karate class this morning it's actually not too bad - I'll just need to be careful with my other meals; add some more protein so I won't be too hungry at dinner time. :drinker:
  • Welcome! I love your handle - I've often thought women our age would make great spies.:flowerforyou: If you've gained 11 lbs in 2 weeks it's likely water weight. With a lot of the diets out there that's what happens: you lose a lot of weight but it's mostly water, and you gain it back as soon as you're off the diet. MFP is…
  • When I worked night shifts I never drank coffee at night - it bothered my stomach and ruined my daytime sleep. I did drink some caffeinated tea but mostly herbal tea. I ate mostly fruit and snacks like cheese and crackers. I had my main meal in the evening before going to work, a small meal in the morning after work, and…
  • First of all congratulations on sticking with it. :flowerforyou: What is the point? Depends if this exercise is making you feel better, stronger, more energetic than before. If it is, there's a benefit right there. You may see better weight loss results from switching things up. Bodies are amazing how they can adapt to…
  • Welcome! I've been feeling the same way - 3 2h classes per week and weight firmly stuck. :noway: But with logging all my food and learning about nutrition I'm seeing some change. You will too! What style do you teach?
  • Sashimi - tuna has fewer calories than salmon but watch out for the mercury. http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodSafety/Product-SpecificInformation/Seafood/FoodbornePathogensContaminants/Methylmercury/ucm115644.htm

  • Actually, bears have it good: all summer long they stuff their faces with everything in sight. As soon as the weather gets nasty, they crawl into a cave and go to sleep. They lose weight IN THEIR SLEEP, and when spring rolls around they're slim and svelte and start all over again stuffing their faces. I've been pretty…
  • You could try here: http://quilting.about.com/od/stepbystepquilting/u/how_to_make_a_quilt.htm Good for you - you can do it! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • I hear you, I've been there. My kids are adults and have their own places now, but I remember the crazy bedtime routines. You'll just have to keep working on it - baby steps! A word of advice: if you're not a quilter yet, don't start with T-Shirts. Start with a woven fabric, cotton or cotton blend, until you feel…
  • As far as I know, yoga is not much for calorie burn but it helps with strength, balance and flexibility, as well as relaxation. I do yoga more for improving my flexibility so I'll do better at tai chi and karate, which are cardio exercises.
  • One of my friends has a fairly slim, athletic figure, and had huge breasts. She had the same problems with back aches etc and finally had a reduction. Best thing she ever did; she was so much happier afterward, and because it was a medical problem (back pain) the medical plan paid for it.
  • Well I just spent two days at a conference at a posh hotel. Yes, I pigged out. So what - I went to my karate class tonight and worked my butt off. I'm still "over" but not as much. If you find you're snacking a lot between dinner and bedtime it's time to find other things to do. With Christmas coming, I'm heavily into…
  • Thanks for the reminder! Last time I tried one of his DVDs I was so embarrassed how uncoordinated I was. Believe it or not but I couldn't step "one - two" to one side and back again without tripping over my feet. Even worse, when I complained to my colleagues how difficult it was they did it perfectly the first time.…

  • Typical - the consumer is told to be careful, but why is this food contaminated in the first place? Why isn't agribusiness taking decisive steps to control this contamination AT THE SOURCE??? :explode: I know what I grow in my garden is safe to eat, but unfortunately lettuce doesn't grow that well in winter
  • Tsatziki sauce  Just add grated cucumbers and garlic and eat with pita bread. If you're not having carbs you can put it on grilled meat/chicken. Depending on the kind of yogurt you got you might want to drain it through cheesecloth for a few hours to thicken it up.
  • Learn karate or other martial art. Even if you never need to use it, you will feel more confident knowing that you could.
  • Yes, on top of the diary you have arrows beside today's date that you can use to move forward or backward.
  • It will come back in no time  Which form/style did you learn?
  • It's unlikely to hurt you, even if you don't have instruction. It's just more difficult to learn on your own. But a lot depends on the DVD; it may be a very good teacher who can explain and demonstrate well even without the ability to provide fedback. Personally I think it's the greatest exercise ever. It is a little bit…
  • There are different forms, from 24 movements to 108 and possibly more. My organization, Taoist Tai Chi, teaches the 108 form. We're having an intensive class coming up for Canadian Thanksgiving weekend where people can learn the form in three days. I don't know if this crash course gets offered in the US but here are the…
  • It would be helpful to see your diaries. But - you said in your profile you want to get stronger. Are you doing strength training and gaining muscle? Over 2 months, you would notice that. Are you losing inches? Or are you perhaps retaining water? When I came back from my holidays in Germany I had gained 8 (eight!!) pounds…
