  • 180. I went in hoping for 4 rounds and finished the last rep of my last set of C&Js at the buzzer. So I'm happy.

  • Signed up! So pumped/scared for the announcement tonight.
  • 1.5 yr crossfit addict who just got back into the swing of things here on MFP. Feel free to add me! Always excited to talk to CF ladies!
  • FINALLY stringing double unders together. Got 7 today. Not an impressive feat by any stretch but finally getting the hang of it! I also PR'd my push press--90 lbs. Goal is to get 100 by 2014!
  • Crossfit NYC (The Black Box). I can't believe I'm the only New Yorker up in here!!
  • Gotta wear an HRM. No other precise way to measure calories burned. My calorie burn can vary greatly between WODs, so I can't just assume it'll be an even 450 (for example) each time.
  • I finally calculated mine! Been crossfitting since Aug '12. Deadlift: 125 Backsquat: 135 Press: 50 Total: 310
  • I did a 3 day BluePrint renovation cleanse a few years back. I do not recommend doing a cleanse for weight loss purposes. It's obviously not a meaningful way to drop pounds. However, if you are looking to kick start a detox of sorts, this isn't a bad way to go. Yes, it's expensive. But the juices are delicious and you…
  • I think dressing with skirts can be tricky. Why not try on some different style dresses and see what you like? There are tons of young/flirty dress styles out there that will flatter your shape (and accentuate your small waist) without aging you. I feel like long and mid-length skirts can read OLD if not paired correctly.…
  • thanks for this. i think the discrepancy DOES come from the fact that i checked off that i have a desk job in goals--i assume that's one of the reasons why i have a lower daily allowance.
  • i've been fasting since i was 13 but i'm nervous this year too! since i started MFP i've become a professional water-guzzler and i can't imagine going all day without a sip! good luck to us all ;)
  • i eat dark chocolate almost every day. just a small piece. if it fits into my calories and doesn't trigger other cravings, why not? for that same reason i avoid eating treats like cookies, crackers or chips because i know they'll just awaken the sleeping carb monster.
  • leftovers from a stir-fry last night: smoked tofu, green beans, mushrooms and red peppers in a miso-chili sauce. plus quinoa. plus dark chocolate for dessert as ALWAYS.
  • Thanks for the reminder! Flying on a 12 hr flight in 2 weeks and just changed my meal option to vegetarian since usually those are healthier meal options. Maybe check to see if your airline offers this too? I noticed a huge array of other options--lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, hindu vegetarian...pretty impressive!
  • i'm on it! my speciality is capturing ridiculous israeli street style. my name is thegraberhood.
  • i have been a candy addict FOREVER (currently have a not-so-secret stash of starburst in my closet for emergency purposes) and I always feel the need to finish dinner with something sweet. I've swapped out candy/dessert for a square or two of expensive and delicious dark chocolate (currently Lindt 75% mint) and I find that…
  • i sent a photo of myself in the gown that i will be wearing to my bro's wedding in a month to a friend of mine (who hasn't seen me in 3 months) and before even commenting on the dress she couldn't stop talking about how small i looked! validation from other people is so gratifying, especially since it's hard for me to see…
  • avoided very little today. i find that on days where i eat carbs for breakfast (not often) i find myself craving them intensely throughout the day! it's a little scary how loud they talk to me.
  • I'm originally from NYC and there are healthy eating options EVERYWHERE. you can find a make your own salad place on almost every other corner in midtown, and like other people have already said, there will always be healthy options at restaurants. avoid chain restaurants with the mega sized portions and seemingly healthy…
  • bump, going protein powder shopping in a few weeks and will use this as a reference!
  • grain salads are filling and low-cal: cooked farro or quinoa (1/2 cup of quinoa = 110 cal) mixed with chopped fresh veggies, herbs and some light feta cheese.
  • i usually compare against calorieking.com if i'm feeling unsure about a food. or i'll look at a bunch of options (like a plum, for example) and choose something in the middle in terms of calories.
  • ok--so i'm encountering the same problem as OP and i'm considering upping my calories too. my question is--upping my calories means going back to my prior eating habits--i.e. WAY more carbs and less protein then i'm eating now. if i want to up my calories to be closer to TDEE, does that mean eating basically all protein…
  • this thread is awesome. really inspiring. i never thought i'd be able to stop eating bread at least twice a day. i have it maybe once or twice a week now. i never was able to feel full without having bread along with a salad or soup. i hardly think about it now!
  • I joined this because my little brother is getting married Sept 3rd and I do NOT want to be "the fat sister"! I've been doing tons of weight training to tone up my arms and shoulders which obviously appear more prominently in the photos than any other part of the body. Weddings are the best motivator! We can do this :)
  • How about preparing grilled chicken breasts on Friday and then making a salad with them on Sat afternoon along with veggies and quinoa, barley or brown rice and some nuts? Alternatively roasted fennel/beets/sweet potatoes (which I think are low GI but not positive?) are nice cold, especially dressed with balsamic…
  • chia seeds. throw them in yogurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese--they add a nice little bump of fiber and protein and some good texture! i really want to try making chia seed pudding--if you let the seeds sit in liquid (in this case i would try almond milk) for around 30 min, they gain a tapioca-like consistency.
  • bump. thank you SO much! this clarifies everything for me.
  • i have the same problem--cereal is a total trigger food for me. i become an absolute carb/sugar monster after eating sugary cereal. my suggestions are to find yummy low sugar cereals (in the health food store) like kashi or natural puffed rice/spelt cereals and dole out individual portions into containers or plastic bags.…
  • I successfully lost 15 lbs with WW about 5 years ago, and gained it all back. I tried again a few times and never made it past a few months. I'm loving MFP SO much more than WW. Why? 1. WW taught me nothing about nutrition. I used the magical formula card/app to calculate points and that was it. No understanding of macros…
