Amazing accomplishment! You look fantastic, and you look like you feel fantastic too. It's so hard for us shorties, every pound looks like two. Then again, same goes for when they start coming off! Go, you!

Today was the first 5-miler I've done in 6 months ... slow and sore, but it's done.

I'm in for 68 miles this month, just started training for a HM in April. I failed to complete the training for this race last year -- it's a hilly *kitten* that I ran once before, and between the cold-weather training and bad memories of the course, I talked myself out of it after getting through about 2/3 of the training.…

Get up early enough to:* Eat something small * Pee * Poop Practice this race day wake-up routine on your long runs to make sure you'll have no tummy trouble on your big day. You don't want to hit the wall on an empty stomach, and you don't want a surprise visit from the fecal fairy! Good luck with your race and don't…

I'm a similar story, I lost 50 lbs and reached goal in 2013. It took a year to lose it and I've maintained it for almost a full year, but this past few months I started creeping back up. I'm up about 15 lbs from goal and ready to get back in the saddle. Let's do this!

Thanks for sharing. Although we're all different, I find everyone's data helpful for perspective, so I'll share mine too. Here's my weekly weigh-in chart for the past year (about when I hit goal) and a close-up of the past 6 months (when maintenance started to become truly challenging.) My goal weight was to get under 140…

Anyone want to tackle these: starvation mode skinny fat 1200 calories

^^^Agreed. I had the same problem when I got serious last year. I posted 3-4 weeks of steady gain while I was doing 30 Day Shred. It was maddening because I was logging every calorie I ate and being careful not to overestimate my exercise calories. Looking back, it was definitely the muscle related water retention…

Sidewalks where they are available, roads where they're not. Some of my routes have stretches without sidewalk, so have to risk some road to get to the next sidewalk. SAFETY TIP: If you must run on roads, ALWAYS run AGAINST oncoming traffic so you can see what's coming, and wear bright colors and/or reflective gear, even…

I'm 5'4" also and needed to lose 50 ... it took about 8-9 months, and it was especially slow in the beginning, so don't get discouraged! I was going to turn 40 in 9 months, and that turned out to be great "it's now or never" motivation. I exercise 4-5 days per week and maintain a steady 1500 calories (that's 1500 net -- I…

Good advice from responses here. I agree to go for distance over speed. Build your base miles per week by picking a 5k / 10k / HM training plan and then sticking to it. The easy/novice levels of most plans are typically 3-4 running days per week, and they'll build your base up at a safe and steady rate. As hard as it is,…

Cool, I didn't know these existed. I'm bumping this as a Christmas gift idea for my husband (and I have every intention of stealing stuff out of each delivery for myself too!

Thanks pjrbs. You're right, we should be just as proud!

5.4% since Jan 1 ... dang I feel slow looking at everyone else's progress :grumble:

I second the recommendation to slow down ... it really helps (especially when you're on a treadmill), and there is NO shame in it. Go as slow as you need to go to get through it ... you're building stamina.

I use this one: http://easeinto5k.bluefinapps.com

I restart it pretty much annually :blushing: My first time, I did manage to complete it, though my time has never been close to 30 minutes, more like 40-45 min. Since then, my MO is that I basically go strong all spring/summer, fall completely off the wagon in the fall, then get back on after New Year's after I've spent…

Sounds really good -- do you happen to know the fiber amount (g) per serving?

One of my favorite fast/portable breakfasts is a small container of greek yogurt mixed with a packet of Planter's Nutrition Energy Mix. I usually buy a sleeve of the 4oz Yoplait Greek 2X Protein (Honey flavor) and a box of the Planter's Energy Mix packets from Target and keep them at work. Since everything's already…

Ya, no problems with long loose t-shirts, but I prefer to wear shelf-bra tanks for the added support. They are typically compression-fit though, and when you combine the slippery fabric they're made of with a less-than-perfect body shape, you get the nightshade effect. But thanks for the tip!

I agree, doc recommendation seems a little goofy ... I started the C25K program at 185 lbs (I'm 5'3") with 38D's (thanks to my 2 kids) ... yes there was a whole lotta shakin' in the beginning, but get yourself a good sports bra, then throw on a shelf-bra tank for extra support, and give C25K a try. And if you're leery…

This is just the type of post I needed to see right now too ... It is so hard to wait for results but to know that it's working for others is what makes all the difference in convincing me to stick with it ...

Way to go!! (I can't wait to get there too!)

My husband started C25K at about 70-80lbs overweight and he dropped 20lbs like nobody's business. Inspired, I started after he ran his 1st 5k. (BTW, he is now doing the bridge to 10k.) I am 60lbs overweight and have had a much more difficult time with it since my form & pace are terrible and my heart races. Nevertheless, I…
