Sodium is almost always the culprit for an "unexpected" gain for me, though I have now come to expect it. Dine-out Chinese food can cause me to gain 4 lbs over 24-48 hours. It seems to take me several days of drinking lots of extra water to get back to a normal weight.

Excellent job!! I was in a similar situation (High cholesterol and High BP).and was sitting in the "obese" category. I dropped about 50 lbs (now "overweight") and my cholesterol and BP are now perfect. Exercise and diet change really do work!

I forgot to mention that I hit a personal best today. Amid my 30 min run (3.4 miles), I did an 8 minute mile. I had run faster previously, but not for a full mile. I find the HRM function to be accurate on my watch (I compared it to the HRM on a treadmill today). What I know to be inaccurate is the total calories burned calculation that my watch gives me. Exercise. It really works. I have built myself up to doing roughly 45 mins of cardio 6x a week. A good sweat is a sure sign of progress.
