  • Quinoa. I've heard about it for years, and just recently tried it. It is very nice.
  • Sadly, I usually am. I needed to get some exercise in, and my yard was in terrible condition, so I mowed and weeded. Not lazy today. :-) TPBM loves their dogs.
  • Like (most) everything else, a little bit of the artificial sweetener is ok. But, please, please don't overdo it. I did Atkins a good while back, and did VERY well on it. I lost 80 lbs in about 4 months. I kept it off for approximately another 6 - 8 months. I felt better than I did before, but not great. My husband was…
  • I am sorry you took a tumble, but glad to hear that people were genuinely concerned. There are a lot of very self centered people in this world today, but I definitely don't think it is a majority of people. Very glad you are ok. Bikes can be replaced, you can not be!
  • You know it's too hot when you wish you had gotten the cloth seats instead of the leather. You know you need a vacation when you start _________________________________ .
  • I too love a beautiful, long, adagio, woodwind intermezzo. I love to listen, but prefer to play. And.. Oui, mais tres un peu. TPBM feels healthier now than they have in a decade.
  • Why, Yes, I do. Unfortunately, I don't have one at the moment, though. TPBM secretly enjoys classical music.
  • Thank you!! And, yes he is!! Well, we both are lucky!!! (haha)
  • You are not obligated to go into any detail with any health or medical condition with your employer - and they are not allowed to ask for details. You could say it is for physical therapy, or just a series of doctor's appointments. If it is easier, you might consider asking your HR or ER folks to help you with any…

  • I've had three kids, and being large up top to begin with - and the weight I have lost so far making them a bit extra droopy - I HAVE to wear a sports bra. Depending on your size, you can find good ones that aren't very expensive. Even if you need to get a pricey one, they are worth it!!
  • I typically go to the gym during my lunch hour. So, I have to be work ready in the morning, but also after my workout. I do have to shower and wash my hair, and blow dry after - but can do that in 10 minutes. I choose not to wear make-up, because I don't want to take the time.
  • I've been married for 16 years, and we've been together almost 19 years. We have definitely had tough times, mostly due to financial struggles early on. We have also had times on not agreeing on parenting. With his depression at its worst about 6 years ago, I had to make a decision to stay or go. I am SOOOO very happy I…
  • You know your kids are in trouble when you walk in the house and find ___________________.
  • I get the business model that it isn't cost effective to keep the 'fringe' sizes in the stores, but being heavy and short - I HATE buying anything without trying it on. So, I particularly hate purchasing clothes on-line. I have (for the most part) come to terms with that fact that I have to just deal with it. I am ecstatic…
  • suburbs of Portland, OR in Washington County. (If you like living in the city, it would be good - but definitely has that 'Keep Portland weird' motif.) I LOVE the burbs!!! And LOVE Oregon - and I have lived ALL over - (Japan, Philippines, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas, Maryland and Virginia.) This is by far my…

  • The Cottonball Diet Who would think of such a thing??? Eating a non-food item that is minimal in calories, to fill up on, so you don't overeat real food.
  • If you work out hard, you should be hungry after. We must refuel!! I do enjoy have a few extra calories available after exercise. I don't go for junk though. Before workouts, I have a good snack, and depending on time of day, after I eat lunch or a snack. My snacks typically are an apple and cheese, or I might have some…
  • Yes, it absolutely depends on what the individual deems is 'eating clean'. Absolutely some processed food is ok, in an overall healthy diet. For me, my usual pre-training snack is an apple and cheese, or something of the like. There are times if those just aren't readily available when I need it, I will grab a protein bar…
  • * You don't need to eat clean. (me - disagree. While I have a lot of weight to lose, and need to change my emotional eating, I NEED to eat clean - for now. For me, this means preparing meals in a healthy way - no excessive use of butter, or other 'high' unhealthy fats. I think this falls under your statement of use common…
  • The Great Northwest. Beaverton, Oregon. Just outside of Portland. We have the mountains and hour to the east, and the Pacific Ocean an hour to the west. The Coast Range mountains are only about 40 minutes away, great camping, but not as much snow as the Cascades.

  • The body shape does make a difference. You will lose fat there, but it might be slower, and the last place it burns from. I also read another post a while back about how sometimes our measurements in our waist area aren't so accurate. They showed diagrams that made it quite clear how 'they' were doing it wrong and others…
  • Most big restaurant chains have nutrition information available. I always try to look at it before I go to the restaurant. Red Lobster's is: http://www.redlobster.com/health/nutrition/light_house.asp When I went, I had a half order of the citrus tilapia - broiled, and broccoli. I did allow myself one of the biscuits. I…
