  • Bump....I need new recipes too. Thanks everyone!
  • I make pizza using a flat-out wrap. Bake for about 10 minutes to crisp it up, then add sauce, and toppings. I do onion, mushrooms and peppers and lot-fat cheese. For less than 300 calories I have a filling pizza. Nothing wrong with burgers either. Lean beef on a sandwich thin (you know those flat buns) with sauteed…
  • ^^This. Drizzle some chocolate sauce on top and you've hit your calorie goal with a much better tasting treat than drinking oil. :ohwell:
  • What guidelines? I eat at least 4-5 servings a fruit a day and lost what I set out to lose and never plateaued. I also eat a lot of vegetables and 90 - 100 grams of protein.
  • Not sure about using split peas in this but you could try - I bake lentils and brown rice with onion mushrooms and curry spices (but you can substitute whatever you like) then bake for 45 minutes covered in foil. Then I take the foil off lay baby carrots all around the edges and then pile fresh spinach on top. As the…
  • I always look online at the restaurant's menu and nutrition information and decide what I'm going to order before I get there. In the case that it's a place that doesn't have this online, I'll order grilled chicken or fish usually blackened if they have that. But then we go out for burgers and fries too knowing they'll be…
  • I agree with the others. Maintenance takes time to figure out. For me it's the balance between not losing more and yet not gaining. I've been surprised how much I can eat now that I consume healthier foods, lots of protein and exercise. For me it's been helpful to continue to log plus I have a great support system of…
  • ^^This 10 times over^^ although it doesn't answer your original question about nutrition.
  • You can make enough for 5 days at a time. I generally make 10 servings at a time for me and my husband for the week. Steel cut oatmeal (1/4 cup per serving) Water (1 cup per serving) Bring to a very slow boil and them simmer for 25-30 minutes Add in 2 egg whites (per serving) Cook for another 10 minutes, stirring often.…
  • Do you like fish or cottage cheese - that will boost your protein and are low in fat.
  • I've never tracked fat at all and have steadily lost weight - actually more than I wanted to. I look at the overall calories and protein mostly. I shoot for 100 grams of protein daily and then let everything fall where it may.
  • That's a BIG YES! I have a spreadsheet on my computer with all the isles organized with the items I use and I print it off once a week and then check off what I need. Works for me but then again, I'm a geek that LOVE'S LISTS!!
  • The numbers on the marcos are carbs / protein / fat.
  • As others have already said, there is nothing to be scared of. Just measure your portions and see that it fits into your overall food intake for the day. My personal choice is to eat whole grains for bread and pasta, brown rice, both regular and sweet potatoes. I have one or more portions each day and lost my goal plus…
  • You've had some good suggestions already but what about your exercise? I used to use the "I'm getting older" excuse about why I wasn't losing. Once I changed my lifestyle I lost all I wanted and then some. I'm 51 and started at 132 and lost 23 pounds by eating cleaner - not perfect but pretty good - and exercising. I don't…
  • We have a store that sells all different flavors of oils and balsamic vinegar's. I found a balsamic that is Cranberry / Pear. It's so good that most of the time I just use it, not mixed with anything else.
  • Yep! Funny, one of my friends on my news feed just mention how her workout doesn't net as many calories any longer and I told her it is was a mixed blessing - but still so worth it. :drinker: Also, the cost of clothes you have to buy to replace the ones that no longer fit because they are way too big! It's crazy but still…
  • Do you know what your Cholesterol numbers are? Some people can eat eggs and are not effected but some are. I happen to be one of those people that is VERY effected by eating too many. I have a friend that read the reports saying yolks don't increase your blood Cholesterol and began eating quite a few each week. She was…

  • Oh my! Between this thread and the link from the OP, I've got so many tears in my eyes from laughing I can barely see to type!
  • You already look beautiful!! You're doing great. Keep up the good work.
  • I'm going to throw in another vote to use a cooler. I have a Rachel Ray cooler bag (Target, $12) and then add a couple of cool packs and it will keep your food cold for several hours. This opens up so many more choices of what you can bring many which have already been mentioned.
  • Plan some extra exercise, avoid sauces and get salad dressing on the side - and most of all enjoy yourself!
  • :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
  • But there was also an interesting article yesterday on the connection to diet soda and type 2 diabetes. http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/diet-soda-drinkers-greater-risk-diabetes-study-article-1.1257846 Personally I don't drink the stuff and even though Snopes reports aspartame as being okay, I've known several…
  • I downloaded used Trimble All Sports and it worked nicely. I'm going to try out Endomondo too. Thanks everyone, you're the best!
  • Thanks everyone, these sound like some great options! I will check them out tonight.
  • I'm all for frozen when fresh isn't an option. We alternate in my house depending on what I have on hand and what I have for time. I add some low fat dressing sometimes and to broccoli I like the Sargento Artisan Blends cheese, the parm is only 20 calories for 2 tsps.
  • Strawberry / Pear Balsamic Vinegar! We get it at a local Oil & Vinegar place. They have tons of flavors. Low cal and yummy!

  • It takes an extra 3500 calories to gain a pound so 500 calories is not going to do any harm. Pick your head up, tell yourself you can do this, move on and use the time to figure out what to do differently next time. Emotions can be a powerful thing but we can rise above them!
