Maybe listening to some music or reading a book will help. I'm in NY and although the sun is out, it's not exactly warm. I do however, realize that it could be worse.

It's water retention, I wouldn't worry about it. Weigh yourself after it ends and you should be fine.

You may need to increase your caloric intake if you are working out five times a week. The alcohol is a factor but it seems as if you are not eating enough. When I was younger, I was able to do numerous shots and chase them each with a beer. Now I'd be lucky if I could do one without passing out. I guess it's a reflection…

A heart rate monitor is very effective. I have a Polar FT60, it has a training program which gives feedback after each session and once a week.

Drinking half your weight in ounces will suffice. Unfortunately, I cannot meet the requirement due to work. I usually drink a half gallon per day of pure water in addition, tea and sparkling water.

Once a week, except when it' s that "special time of the month" because the numbers are higher and I retain water.
