  • ...if I am going to eat something I normally would not I will enjoy it thoughly and keep portion control in check. I don't believe in total denial of food because that could lead to binging. Fill up on good foods but also enjoy a 1/2 cup of chili or ONE slice of pizza. I too did a longer harder workout and had light lunch…
  • NW Chicago suburb....same thing. Good luck hooking up with someone! I hate running in the cold, hard... Brrrr
  • Welcome & ditto! Log everyday and build friends - it really helps me stay on task...plus, I've made a few more friends:happy:
  • i am no expert but except for the pizza it sounds like you are doing things right. Have you checked with your doctor to be sure it is not a hormone issue or anything else? Also, I would try cutting sugar and sodium. So much food has sodium. I make all my stuff from natural vs. processed foods. The first week I lost 5 lbs.…
  • do you know if you can change the report to log measurement other than your neck, hips & waist. I personally have a long skinny neck and could care less what the measurement is...now my thighs that's another story ...LOL
  • Thakns for the tips. I drink a lot of H2O now but 20 oz before running just sounds like a lot but I will try it while training. Wish me luck and again THANKS for the great ideas. I am so excited! Just hope it doesn't snow like it did last year! My brother runs this one all the time and he told me they had a blizzard last…

  • My in-laws have never liked me....during 25 years of marriage to their son and we've been divorced for several years (my evil ways of course LOL)...oh well, their loss. I used to get my undies in a bunch over everything they thought, did ect. but now I just take a big deep breath. My oldest daughter was in an auto accident…
  • Welcome! The only advice I have (and agree with other users of MFP) is log food prior to eating if possible (not always possible). I more often come out ahead that way and can either have a "treat" later or make my calories for the day. Planning, planning, planning! good luck ...if you stick with support from this site you…
  • I have not used yet but I am going to try now because of you. Thanks! I agree with you about the affirmation of good habit building. I just had a thought too that would probably be a great tool for emotional eaters to learn to recognize triggers. Thanks again. I will let you know how it's going.
  • If you really work this site & yourself you will get support, log in food & exercise and you will be amazed. It's not a magic diet pill, you need to work at it but consistency, slow but sure it works! You are worth it and you will be amazed at how good you feel. I saw in an early post today something to the effect of time…
  • I've always wanted to try this but (not to sound gross), I am really regular in the poop department so I was afraid I would mess up my system.. Oprah is all about the good poop LOL I would like to hear from anyone who has tried this too!
  • I eat a bowl of oatmeal with a healthy spoon full of cinnamon in it. It really staves off hunger. It might just be me, but it works! Getting used to the cinnamon in the oatmeal without sugar takes a little getting used to so don't overload it at first, work up to a good teaspoon in a bowl. good luck...very proud of you -…
  • Metformin... what is this?
  • great resonse....especially making light of it!
  • oh yeah, forgot to mention that there have been times when I have to go back and adjust my meals because I might change it up a bit or portion maybe bigger, ect. But for me it really helps to pre-plan to stay within my portion control
  • I agree that it holds me accountable. I used the site several months back and then stopped....wished I had not stopped. But now I am back on the right track. I also use it as a planning tool by adding in my meal ahead of time to see how much I can actually eat. That helps me on the weekends especially because I like to…
  • We're having tilapia w/black bean salsa and brown rice. Yummy, can't wait. I want to start cooking now. What is cottage pie?
  • Great information. It is always better to get the reviews from you rather than through a commercial online. I am going to give it a shot...I have 3 daughters and work full time so the 30 minutes part sounds great. I'll let you know how it's going if you are interested. One last question...do you need special equipment? I…

  • I have the same problems - I love the wine & good food. Up until a few years ago I could eat & drink whatever I wanted, workouts consisting of cardio just to keep the heart healthy. We love to cook at our house too and our friends have come to know us for that too. There are really great foods that are also good for you,…
