  • Second that.
  • Good god, there's more than chicken and broccoli... TIP: If you walk in the door at peak meal time and the place doesn't have at least 50% asian customer base... turn around and look for another joint. Racist, but a very good gauge of a restaurant (works for any cuisine, I find) OK... Look for a decent dim sum restaurant.…
  • That's 1200 a day NET... that means, you can consume 3000 calories and exercise off 1800, you'll be fine! Going under 1200 is not a good idea, and that's just a ballpark figure. Tweak your program till you find what works best for you. Good luck and God speed!
  • Get a chest strapped HRM... preferably one that can even tell you cals burnt. I just finished Fit Test & Max Interval Circuit (Month 2, Day 1) and logged in 1500 cal burnt over 90 mins. (Just regaining my sanity now). Just ball park it, better to (slightly) underestimate cals burnt and overestimate cals consumed, and…

  • Go at your own pace... get a heart rate monitor (chest strap preferably) and have fun! You'll sweat bullets but it will feel awesome. God be with you!
  • Body may be adjusting... muscles building to accommodate walking routine, etc. Don't fret, stay with it and make sure you consume at least 1200 calories a day to stay above "starving". Good luck and God speed~!
  • There is a BeachBody user group you can join for P90X, INSANITY etc. conversations.
  • Used to average 2 cans of Diet a day. Now I keep a pitcher of unsweetened ice tea in the fridge. Tastes better than water, still get the caffeine kick, better for hydration and keeps the s#!t in soda out of my diet, mostly. Might share a D.Coke with the wife if we're eating out or something but never have one to myself.…

  • Visit a urologist? Better to be safe than sorry... Take care and all the best!
  • YES! IMHO, Insanity is way too intense to attempt on an empty stomach. Tweak the program.. hang in there and good luck!
  • Day 5 done. Into week 3 of MFP. Noticed improvements already. Yay!
  • It's easy to "settle down" after you get married as you might not feel the pressure to attract your partner any more. I fell into the same pit (for 10 years!!!). Paying for it now. Some of my motivators as a married man: 1. Get healthier so I can enjoy more time with my wife. 2. Live longer for my kids (when we decide to…
  • I say eat it. Satisfy your cravings (maybe reduce the portion size so you get the emotional fix and less of a calorie hit) and move on. One meal a week is fine. God willing, you'll probably find that after not having it for so long, it no longer holds as much satisfaction as your remember. Diet Coke and fast food burgers…
  • Haha... funny. I just "fell off the wagon" this weekend at the movies too! I just get back to the grind... maybe 10 or 20 minutes more light exercise over the next couple of days but not too much. Cutting too many calories might switch metabolism to "storage" (starvation) mode and over-exercise would just be unpleasant,…
  • Turkey burgers. Ground turkey Garlic Carrots Onions (red, white, spring... whatever's available) LOTS of breadcrumbs... it lightens the burger considerably and is a good filler. Feel free to add celery too. Bake in the oven till 165 F Divided mine to 4oz. patties... came to 230 calories per. Very filling.
  • Eat a small sliver to be polite if it's a celebration, but instead of seeing a tasty sweet treat, try to see the calories and how long it will take you to work them off. Has been working for me for the past 2 weeks (just started the program) and will hopefully stay that way. 1 chocolate chip cookie = 20 mins. and so on. An…
  • Hey VB, Just use it as a general guide. If you're afraid of inaccuracies, I would advise walking another 10 minutes to your workout just in case. For me, I focus on the results. So long as I seem to be making steady (somewhat) accurate progress, I keep at it. Try not to stress yourself about it (as stress is bad for losing…
  • Stock your fridge with baby carrots, apples, a jug of ice tea (unsweetened, to replace soda/sweet drinks) and cabinets with tuna, sardines, any lean protein you prefer. The pre-packed instant oatmeal (134 calories per pack, I think) and a cup of coffee to jump start your day works best (for me, at least). English muffins…
  • Much respect to you for taking the first steps to a healthier life! I'm into my second week of shedding what I hope will be 40lbs. of access fat and keeping off the diabetes monorail that I was on. Do remember to change up your workouts... go for a walk, take the stairs, park further away from your destination (bikes make…
  • "Aim to get your treats from wholesome products like full-fat ice cream (which has calcium) or dark chocolate (which has antioxidants) ..." Best news I've read all week!!
  • Another good resource (that seems to make sense) I've found is Livestrong.com You can ask pretty much any question and they pool online resources (that they reference if you would like to read further) to give you a good general answer. My scenario: a 240 lb. guy trying to lose fat. They pointed me to a decent 1500 calorie…
